[Vol. 3] Chapter 87: Better Off Without It
Ifia had no doubts about the efficacy of the potion. After all, it was the reward she had painstakingly earned through her tasks! However, she didn’t mind observing the aftermath of the potion.
So, eagerly, she reached out and pulled Amelia away from the treehouse. After descending the wooden stairs to the ground, they saw Elder Sylei almost dancing with joy.
Next to Elder Sylei, a dark elf who had taken the potion was no longer terrifyingly ugly. Their dark, withered arms had regained health and vitality, their skin was incredibly smooth and elastic, and even their sparse, yellowish hair had turned into a thick mane of light green hair.
The restored dark elf lifted a mirror, looked down at their own face, and their red eyes were filled with incredulous disbelief. They had really changed back!!! And beside them, several dark elves who had been unconscious due to Ifia’s sleeping potion had also awakened.
Their joy surpassed even Elder Sylei’s, some of them falling to the ground in tears, their faces expressing a complex mix of emotions.
Ifia was not fully aware of the significance of the potion formula in lifting the curse and abandoning evil for the dark elves.
It could save their population from extinction! And, it allowed them to escape their hideous, terrifying appearance and return to their original form.
Even demons rarely have particularly ugly appearances. Though different in race, it doesn’t mean that the aesthetic sense is the uglier the better…
Otherwise, how could there be many demons lusting after angels, wanting to defile their purity? Among special creatures, the races with beauty ranking at the forefront are angels and merfolk, followed by demons and so on.
“Qilin, your face has really recovered, it’s truly unbelievable.”
“Can we also return to normal?”
“Look at Qilin’s arms, they’re no longer thin like dead wood!”
After the excitement of several dark elves, they immediately surrounded the dark elf with a changed face, chattering away, letting Ifia know that the dark elf who had regained their appearance was the one they had initially captured.
Unlike the uncontainable excitement of the dark elves, after regaining composure, Elder Sylei immediately walked solemnly to Ifia, sincerely bowing to her with a respectful gesture.
Even though the dark elves were just a branch of demons, it was simply impossible for them to bow to humans, whom they usually looked down upon. Despite the fact that dark elves didn’t dare to act recklessly in front of Amelia, they were quite arrogant towards fragile and powerless humans.
Even showing full malice.
However, now, the scene of the dark elf elder bowing to humans was unfolding before them. If it weren’t for Ifia providing the potion formula, they would still be enduring the pain brought by the curse of abandonment and evil!
Ifia is the benefactor of the dark elf tribe! After seeing Elder Sylei bowing, the other dark elves also came back to their senses from the joy. Before Ifia appeared, Elder Sylei had already briefly recounted the situation.
Therefore, they also knew that this potion formula, which would change the future of the dark elf tribe, came from the human girl named Ifia in front of them. Such great kindness, just a bow, they wished they could kneel down to thank her!
“Lady Ifia, we will never forget your grace.”
“Thank you for your potion formula. We can finally return to normal.”
“Please give me a chance to repay you. I will offer you the most delicious Karas bugs. Eating them can make your appearance even more beautiful.”
The dark elves understood gratitude is a good thing. However, Ifia awkwardly smiled and chose to refuse. Eating bugs and such, better not!
At this moment, Ifia had a feeling as if she had rescued a stray cat, and as a result, they came in droves to repay her… Hmm, each one with a mouthful of mice and snakes, all piled up at her doorstep.
It’s better to refuse such repayment! Just the thought of it made Ifia shiver involuntarily, and she quickly spoke up to stop it.
“There’s no need for this. Elder Sylei and I agreed in advance that this was just a transaction.”
Before the dark elves could say anything, Ifia looked up at Elder Sylei. “Elder Sylei, now that we’ve seen the effects of the potion formula, can we retrieve the Lint Fruit?”
“Of course.”
Getting down to business, Elder Sylei immediately nodded, gesturing for a few dark elves to inform the tribe, then leading Ifia and Amelia to retrieve the Lint Fruit.
As Elder Sylei had previously mentioned, only it knew where the Lint Fruit was, and that was indeed true.
Following Elder Sylei through a certain tree hole, they descended, passing through a crooked underground passage, where there were even special mechanisms! Lit by a magical red light, they floated like ghosts in mid-air, illuminating the path ahead.
Standing before one of these mechanisms, Elder Sylei casually pressed a spot on the wall, causing a rumble. As they continued forward, what was once a straight path now branched into another.
This is like the story of the fox and the three burrows!
Ifia silently marveled, stepping into the suddenly appearing fork in the road, where the surroundings were illuminated by the red light, sparkling like stars in the Milky Way.
Walking among them feels like wandering in the universe, with a dizzying sensation. This made Ifia curious to approach the wall, only to discover that it was embedded with many gemstones!!! And they were all of a particularly large size.
This is too extravagant!
It made her really want to take a few with her… But retrieving the Lint Fruit was the priority, so Ifia could only watch the gemstone wall helplessly, tears of envy almost streaming down her face.
Fortunately, they soon reached their destination, and once they were out of range of the gemstone wall, Ifia’s suffering ended.
“Kanen, come here!”
Walking through the passage to an underground cave, the space around them immediately became spacious. Somehow, the cave was well-ventilated, making it cool and odorless, and the floor and walls were covered in moss that emitted a blue glow.
Just looking at it gave a magical atmosphere.
Elder Sylei’s sudden voice made Ifia curious, and she was startled, quickly hiding in Amelia’s arms. Where did such a big snake come from!!!
But upon closer inspection, it wasn’t an ordinary snake. After all, whose snake had a… and fangs protruding outward like wild boar tusks, beneath the emerald green, long body, there were also a dozen or so claw-like appendages similar to duck feet, firmly gripping the ground.
It’s all very strange…
As Ifia stared in fear, Elder Sylei smiled and approached. As soon as it raised its hand, the giant snake lowered its head, waiting for Elder Sylei to stroke it, revealing a humanized smile of enjoyment.
At this moment, Amelia, who was holding Ifia, narrowed her violet eyes dangerously. It seems that she should be grateful Ifia stopped her back then, otherwise, killing Elder Sylei would have meant the Lint Fruit would never be obtained.
After Elder Sylei reassured the accompanying pet, it waved its hand and used magic to retrieve the Lint Fruit from the corner. Seeing this, Ifia had a thought. She left Amelia’s embrace and took a few steps forward.
The Lint Fruit looked like a purple coconut. When Elder Sylei handed it over to Ifia, she instinctively squeezed it.
Hard.
Now that she finally had the Lint Fruit, Ifia felt ecstatic. She turned to look at Amelia.
Although she tried to suppress the urge to smile wildly, it didn’t work, making Ifia’s face radiant with a brilliant smile, her round almond eyes shining like crescent moons in the sky.
She was just about to proudly raise her hand to pat her waist and laugh.
The Lint Fruit was somewhat heavy, but Ifia still insisted on lifting it up and waving it towards Amelia.
Then, cheerfully exclaimed, “Amelia, I got the Lint Fruit!”
