5-38. Outside the Cave

After a while, Lize calmed down, though she still looked terribly dejected, her shoulders slumped in despair. The reason was that her hair color had changed. Apparently, it used to be blue, a color she was very fond of.

However, now it was a pale blue, almost white, with a faint glow that made it appear more whitish than blue.

“Hmm… I think it’s a pretty color,” I thought to myself. “I haven’t really seen blue hair before. But to be so upset over a hair color change… Maybe it’s something I, as a guy, can’t fully understand.”

Glancing at Amariaz, I noticed he was muttering under his breath, impatient for Lize to recover. Right, our magical items had a time limit. We needed to move quickly.

“Uh, um…”

“Sigh…”

“Did it really bother you that much, your hair changing color?”

“Of course it did!! And it’s glowing! It’s so conspicuous!!”

“I think blue stands out too… But yeah, in the dark, this is even more noticeable…”

“Ughhh, it was a color Meryl praised me for…”

Oh, so it had sentimental value. That explains her reaction.

Still, we needed to move soon. The effects of the magical items would wear off, and we couldn’t risk getting poisoned.

“Lize, we need to move soon, the magic won’t last much longer…”

“What!? Why didn’t you say so earlier!?”

“You didn’t give me a chance!!”

“Stop whining! I don’t want to die here!”

“What is with her!?”

As soon as I complained, Lize vanished from sight.

“Huh?”

“Whoa.”

“That was fast!”

How is she that quick? She moved as fast as Uchikage-Ojiichan! I never imagined she could move like that!

Stunned for a moment, we quickly started moving too. With the seal broken, we had no reason to stay here. Carefully navigating the slippery path, we soon reached more stable ground. There were still traces of static electricity in the air, but the ice was gone.

As we picked up the pace, Lize was nowhere to be seen. Then I realized something – there were no signs of monsters.

Looking around, I saw several poisonous creatures and insects scattered around, all defeated. Lize must have taken care of them on her way out.

“Was that her magic earlier?”

“Oh, you mean ‘Thunder Wave’? That spell is incredibly effective in enclosed spaces like caves.”

“Yeah, I felt it firsthand.”

“With your defense, you should be fine.”

Well, yeah, it didn’t hurt that much, but still, she didn’t have to attack me!

The cave exit started to brighten. We were getting close. Lize had likely already met up with the others, so I wasn’t too worried. We exited the Potodera Dungeon lightly.

We were surrounded by a large body of water.

“”Huh?””

“Welcome back.”

The water was rippling from impacts, creating waves that spread out. I immediately understood what was happening, while the others grasped the situation from the loud noises.

“Oh, we’re under attack. With those bombs.”

“I just woke up! Why does this always happen, Ouren!?!”

“Hahaha! Just like usual!”

“The worst!”

A loud slap echoed as someone got smacked on the head
