My Daughter Grew Up to “Rank S” Adventurer - Chapter 58.5
Hi, everybody. I have recently started a new novel called Strict Wife of the ’70s Manages the Household. It already has 15 chapters. You can check it out HERE.
“Yeah, that’s the funny thing about Bel. He was very observant, you know. He was always alert to his surroundings when he was on a mission, and Bel was always the first to react to any unexpected situation. Bel was also the one who would be the shot-caller when we were dealing with a large number of magical beasts. When Percy and Sati were pushing forward, Bel was the one who quickly took up the rear defensive position. In short, he was something like a general strategist or assistant for the whole party.”
“I see. Come to think of it, the last time there was a commotion in Bordeaux, Helvetica-san and the others were saved because Bel-san noticed something was wrong and returned to the mansion, right?”
“I guess so… That’s pretty advanced stuff, isn’t it? You have to be very clear headed to do that.”
Qasim nodded at Anessa’s words.
“Right. It’s not so obvious, but the higher the rank you attain as an adventurer, the more you realize how important it is. To be honest, a lot of people who are just starting out or are in lower ranks don’t understand the importance of it, and in fact, many lower rankers can get by adventuring without such positions.”
Angeline nodded, “That’s true. In the lower rank dungeons, defeating demonic beasts and collecting materials were often pushed by momentum alone, without a proper strategy.”
However, once adventurers reached a higher rank, they began to feel the limits of what they could do alone. The guild’s decision to form a party with Anessa and Miriam seemed to make her realize how much she appreciated it.
“But as their ranks rise, momentum alone won’t help… Right?”
“Yeah, yeah. That’s why Bel has been doing the things that the higher rankers do ever since he was a lower ranking adventurer. I heard that he kept hopping from one party to another because the people who didn’t understand him didn’t like him very much. I think that’s part of the reason why his self-esteem is so low…”
“I see… But Daddy is still awesome.”
“Searching for enemies, keeping an eye on the rear, and understanding the battle situation, huh? I’d certainly like to have one in our party.”
Qasim tapped Anessa on the shoulder with a laugh.
“Right? Well, your role right now is the same way, Anne.”
“Yeah, well I guess…? Hehe…”
Anessa’s cheeks colored happily when she was told that her role was similar to Belgrief, whom she admired. In the current party, Anessa often has a bird’s eye view of the battle situation.
Angeline puffed out her cheeks, looking unamused.
“… I’ll be observing from the back next time.”
“No, no, no, if you step back, who’s going to step forward…”
“It’s not fair on Anne… I want to be like my father.”
“Hehehe, you’re not like Bel, Angie.”
Angeline snorted and poked Qasim, who was laughing.
“How are we different…”
“Well… First, Bel is very people-oriented. Very nice. He has a calm demeanor and always takes a step back to look at things calmly. The other three of us, including me, were all pretty strong-minded, and we got into a lot of fights, but Bel always stepped in and warned us.”
Qasim looked at Angeline mischievously and chuckled.
“So, Angie. You’re not very pleasant, you’re not very friendly, you’re stubborn, and you’re not even close to being the same.”
“Guh…”
Angeline bit her lip in frustration, while Qasim poked Angeline with a satisfied grin.
“But, well, I’m sure that he’s even better than that!”
Miriam giggled.
“I guess Bel-san was more of a father to you then.”
“Maybe. When I look at Angie, I can tell that Bel is a really good father.”
Angeline’s mood instantly improved, and she hugged Qasim’s neck.
“Isn’t that right, Qasim-san knows exactly what he’s talking about…”
“Hmm. You guys should try diving into a Dungeon with Bel once you get a chance. It’s a much different feeling of safety.”
Qasim reminded Angeline of walking through the woods with Belgrief when she was a child, and she remembered feeling incredibly safe just knowing that Belgrief was behind her.
However, Angeline reminded herself that the sense of security that Qasim was describing might be a little different from that.
