“Hyuloooo!”
Utilizing his flexible body, he soared through the forest at breakneck speed, weaving his way through the trees.
As for the strange noises that leaked out of his mouth, they seemed to come out spontaneously when he flew at high speed, thus making him stop fretting about it.
“Hyulo!”
At this point, at the edge of his field of vision, something like phosphorescence caught his attention, leading him to slow down and approach the source of the phosphorescence carefully.
“Hmm. So it’s a stone this time.”
He found a small stone with a trace of white phosphorescence emanating from its center, measuring about 5 cm in diameter.
Picking up the stone, he observed what was distinguishable about it from ordinary stones.
“Umm, is there some kind of crystal mixed in with it?”
The stone apparently contained something that was reflective of light, albeit extremely subtle, and it seemed to be emitting a phosphorescent light from it.
“I should hold on to it for now.”
After inserting the pebble into a pocket made of a vine, accompanied by boar tusks and other items, he resumed his exploration.
As a matter of fact, these pebble-like phosphorescent materials can be located throughout the forest.
Even though it has been only half a day since his exploration activities kicked off, an adequate number of them have already been collected.
Objects that emitted this phosphorescence included not only animals but also plants and minerals, such as boar tusks and a mouse’s front tooth.
For animals, the parts that emit phosphorescence can be found in frequently used parts… such as tusks for boars, wings for birds, horns for beetles, and leaves for plants. In the case of minerals, phosphorescence was often produced from parts that were rather photic.
Therefore, he has been amassing these objects to the level where they do not obstruct his exploration, in the hopes that they may be beneficial in some way, but their function remained a mystery at the present time.
On top of that, these lights seemed to be imperceptible to the average animals, and some of them were lying in ambush in the dark with their fangs and eyes radiating phosphorescence, assuming that he was oblivious to their presence.
Oh well, their blood indeed is divine!
“Ah, it’s starting to get dark. Maybe I should find a place to sleep for now.”
When he gazed up at the sky here, the sun had already set for some time.
Based on the vegetation and insects, it would be fair to assume that he has been exploring for a reasonable amount of time, despite uncertainty as to the length of a day here compared to a day on Earth.
At any rate, it would not be out of the question to secure a safe place to sleep for the night given that animals would be wandering around and even if he had grown stronger after sucking a significant amount of blood throughout the day, he would be no match for them.
“Hyulooooo!”
And so, for now, he was back to flying at high speed while raising strange voices.
——————-
“I’ve secured a place to sleep.”
“Gi… ga…”
After a period of looking for a place to sleep, he came upon a tree that appeared ideal for a sleeping spot, where he killed a giant snake lurking there by sucking its blood to death before spreading out his vines and roots.
As for the snake, since its fangs emitted reddish-purple phosphorescence, he removed the fangs and cast the snake far away.
In this way, the other animals would relish the dried, scrumptious meat.
For his part, it was sufficient for him to strip off only the parts that emitted phosphorescence combined with the appetizing blood.
“Now, let’s see my fruits of labor so far today.”
He spread out the items he had salvaged during the day in front of his eyes.
The majority of the materials were animal-type materials, followed by plant-type materials, however only the mineral-type materials continued to produce phosphorescence, while the rest of the materials had stopped emitting phosphorescence.
If he recalled correctly, plant-based materials kept emitting phosphorescence for a while after they were collected, so the fact that they had ceased releasing phosphorescence now indicated that they were no longer living.
Furthermore, the color of the phosphorescence was mainly red for animals and green for plants, but there were various other colors emitted, leaving him to speculate whether this could be called a trend.
“Come to think of it, I wonder if this light can be detached from my body?”
As a sudden question crossed his mind, he gathered up all the ivy and poured all his spirit into his hands.
The rigidity of his hands rose exponentially after that, along with a faint green phosphorescent light leaking from his entire hands.
Once I release this light from my body… yeah. If it’s coming out through my spirit, I can safely conclude that it’s moving in response to my will, and for now, I’m just going to meditate and gather my consciousness to the center of my palms…
Gather together!
“Oh… buhera!?”
Upon opening his eyes, he discovered that the green light had congregated to form a sphere.
Relaxing after successfully congregating the light, on the other hand, may have been a poor choice, for the sphere dissipated in a fraction of a second, and the gust of wind created in the process struck him square in the face, rendering him unconsciously frightened.
“Well, but I think I’m getting the hang of it now. For the time being, I understand that I can gather the light. The subsequent step to take is…”
He tried to bring the light together again.
But before the sphere was formed, a slight feeling of dizziness overcame him, disrupting his concentration and causing the sphere to diffuse. This time, not even wind was produced.
“Muu…”
Rather than simply reinforcing the body, it appeared that consciously gathering the light and releasing it out of the body was a laborious process.
While hoping that future training and familiarization with this will help minimize the exhaustion, he chose to be prudent not to be more uptight today so as to retain the fortitude to be alert to his surroundings after falling asleep.
“I should hit the sack.”
Therefore, while paying a certain degree of attention to his surroundings, he opted to sleep today to recover from his exhaustion.
Hopefully tomorrow I can find a base.
