The Green Tea's Crushing Victories in the '70s - Chapter 3.1
The single room allocated to the Tong family was located in the middle, next to Aunt Cai’s.
Before she reached the door to the house, in the distance she saw a little girl sitting on the steps holding her chin in her hands and staring motionlessly at the ground, not knowing what she was looking at.
The little boy started squirming again: “Mom, quickly let me down, I want to play with Mianmian.”
Aunt Cai didn’t hesitate to spank his butt two more times: “You’re a monkey covered in mud, don’t go trouble Mianmian or anyone else.”
Tong Xuelu’s apricot eyes brightened.
The little boy pretended to cry and howl, but aunt Cai didn’t coax him. She turned back to Tong Xue and said, “Mian Mian is your little sister, this child is so young without and without parents, it’s really heartbreaking.”
Speaking of this, she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Tong Dajun and his wife got into an accident at the same time. One of the two older children from Tong’s family went to the factory to help, the other went to school and then handed Mianmian to her to look after. Actually its not that she wasn’t unhappy, and Mianmian didn’t cry or make trouble, she was so well behaved that it brokes people’s hearts.
It’s just that she had so much work to do every day, and there were so many children at home, where could she find the time to look after her?
Now that Mianmian’s own sister was back, she could leave the burden to her sister in the future.
There was such a big commotion in the yard but the little girl didn’t seem to hear it.
Her eyes kept staring at the ground, and it was strangely quiet.
A few people walked over, and Aunt Cai’s loud horn-like voice shouted again: “Mian Mian, come quickly, your big sister came back.”
Don’t know if it was hearing the word “sister”, but the little girl suddenly raised her head.
The little girl’s face was silvery white, her pair of black grape-like eyes are big and bright, and her long and dense eyelashes were like two small brushes.
Tong Xuelu whistled in her heart.
She was indeed worthy of being a famous female celebrity at home and abroad in the 1990s, already a beauty in the bud at such a young age.
Tong Mianmian was elected as one of the “Top Ten Most Popular Female Singers in the World” and “Top Ten Most Popular Actresses in the World” in the 1990s and was the only star who went abroad at that time.
It was just at the peak of her career that she suddenly committed suicide, leaving no last words, and making future generations lament feeling immeasurable regret.
Some people later analyzed that the reason why Tong Mian Mian chose such a decisive course of action had to do with the fact that she had been cheated on in several relationships and, most importantly, her tragic childhood.
An unfortunate childhood takes a lifetime to heal, and the insecurity caused by the family of origin will stay with people for a lifetime.
Although the three children of the Tong family would all become big names in the industry in the future, none of them were truly happy. They could even be described as tragic.
The three big bosses of the Tong family later died of illnesses, and none of them left any offspring.
But now it’s different, she’s here!
With her there, she definitely wouldn’t let the future bosses fall into the hands of the group of people in their old hometown Beihe, let alone let their childhood be miserable and tragic.
Tong Mianmian thought she would see her sister Tong Zhenzhen, but who would have thought it’d be a strange and unfamiliar woman. She stared blankly, stunned, and her watery eyes were full of doubts.
Aunt Cai threw the little boy on the ground and told him not to run around. She turned back and asked Tong Mianmian, “Mianmian, why aren’t you speaking? This is your blood sister, quickly call sister!”
Tong Mianmian’s big eyes flickered, and the little milk said timidly: “She… is not my sister.”
“She is your sister, and that Tong Zhenzhen was not born to your parents, that is a white-eyed wolf with no conscience. Don’t worry about her in the future!”
Aunt Cai was moving water as she spoke.
There was a basin of water in the yard, and it was a hot day, just the right time to take a bath.
Tong Mian blinked her big eyes and stared at her timidly, biting her little lip without saying a word.
She looked like a cute and timid little rabbit.
Tong Xuelu’s heart instantly melted. She went over and squatted in front of her: “Mianmian, I am your sister Tong Xuelu, from now on I will take care of you, how are you?”
Tong Mianmian’s big, watery eyes drooped down, and she played with her fingers without saying anything.
Tong Xuelu didn’t force her, but beat her right arm and coquettishly said: “This bag is so heavy, I want to find a place to put it down, Mianmian, can you open the door for me?
Tong Mianmian raised head head and looked at her, her little face tangled, but finally got up obediently and showed her the way.
Tong Xuelu had no patience with children, especially bear children, but she didn’t hate children as pretty and well-behaved as Tong Mianmian.
Tong Mianmian walked in front with her short legs, reached out and pushed the old wooden door open, turned around, and said in a milky voice: “Put it inside.”
Tong Xuelu pinched her small white and tender face: “Thank you Mianmian, you’re such a good child.”
Tong Mian Mian pursed her little mouth, her little snow-white ears slightly red.
Tong Xuelu walked in, only to see a room that was less than twenty square meters. There were two beds, a set of old tables and chairs, and a low table with a missing corner in the room, on which cups, bowls, chopsticks, and other things were placed.
The house was simple and crude, but still clean, better than she thought.
She put her travel bag on the bed, and then waved to Tong Mianmian who was secretly watching her at the door, and said, “Mianmian, come here, sister will do your hair.”
Tong Mianmian dressed cleanly, with a white face and no nasal mucus, but her hair was tied up in a hideous mess. At first glance, it looked like a chicken coop.
Tong Mianmian’s small hands clutched the wooden door: “You…really know how to tie up hair?”
Tong Xuelu smiled: “Of course, I will dress you up as the most beautiful girl in the entire compound. Come here.”
Tong Mianmian’s big eyes glowed with water, and after a pause, she ran towards her with her short legs.
The little person had black and shiny hair, and Tong Xuelu tied her hair into two pigtails with a red string.
After tying her hair up, she took down the mirror on the table and showed it to her.
Tong Mianmian saw herself in the mirror with her pigtails, it looked better than when her mother had tied it up before, and she raised her head and pursed her mouth before smiling at Tong Xuelu.
The little girl’s bead-like eyes were clear and translucent, and two small dimples appeared on her cheeks.
Tong Xuelu couldn’t help lowering her head and kissing her face: “Our family’s Mianmian is so pretty, even better than a little fairy.”
Tong Mianmian looked like a frightened little deer, staring at her with wide watery eyes, her little cheeks flushed immediately.
Tong Xuelu didn’t continue teasing her, she picked up the mirror and looked at this body for the first time.
粉妆玉琢, or silvery-white, literally means decorated with white powder and carved out of jade, describes a snow scene.
