T/L: Fleeting Cloud E/D: Spirit Song & Lie
“Wait,” Fu Sinian stopped Yu Duo who had turned around and was about to leave. He closed the cap of the burn ointment and passed it to her. “Apply some more if it hurts.”
Yu Duo took it. The tube of ointment in her palm seemed to have the temperature of Fu Sinian’s palm which made her hands feel sore.
As soon as Fu Sinian returned, he spent the entire day in the study room, occupied with business. Yu Duo was also happy.
At ten o’clock in the evening, Yu Duo quietly pushed open the door of the study. The room was dimly lit.
The papers on the desk were scattered. Fu Sinian put his hand on his forehead and leaned on the chair. His eyebrows were locked and his eyes were closed.
Yu Duo’s movement awakened Fu Sinian. He opened his eyes and looked, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s ten o’clock. When will you rest?”
“Ten o’clock…” Fu Sinian rubbed his forehead. His eyes looked exhausted. His tone was not as arrogant and domineering as in the daytime. “Go to sleep first.”
“You should rest early.”
In the dead of the night, Yu Duo laid drowsy in bed. She was half-asleep and half-awake. A figure seemed to come to her but after a moment later, it left the bed.
Yu Duo opened her eyes in a trance and looked at the time in a daze.
The clock struck half past twelve.
The light in the dressing room was on. It should be Fu Sinian.
She got out of the bed and came to the door of the dressing room.
In the dressing room, Fu Sinian was taking off his coat and unbuttoning his shirt buttons one by one.
Fu Sinian said that he had been in coma for three months, but in Yu Duo’s view, there was no change in his figure and his muscles were still strong and firm.
Looking at Fu Sinian who had taken off his shirt, Yu Duo’s words stuck in her mouth.
Because she saw the wounds of different sizes and thicknesses on Fu Sinian’s back. They were starting from the waist to the shoulder blade. There were even scars that were not healed. They were wrapped by white gauze but faint scarlet marks could still be seen on it.
It pains even for those who took a look at those wounds.
Fu Sinian turned his head and saw Yu Duo standing at the door of the dressing room. He was stunned for a moment then he put on his shirt and buttoned his buttons. He spoke as if nothing had happened, “Why haven’t you slept yet?”
Fu Sinian had wounds all over his body. Yu Duo could see them clearly.
Some were shallow while some were deep. Some were short and some were long. When Fu Sinian turned around, Yu Duo could see his chest which was full of scars of different sizes.
These scars were enough to show how dangerous the explosion on the yacht three months ago was.
Fu Sinian hadn’t recovered yet. However, he showed no trace of weakness and injury.
Yu Duo’s eyes drooped and stared at his toes instead of looking at him. She whispered, “I can’t sleep.”
Fu Sinian buttoned up his shirt. “You go to bed first, I’ll be right back.”
Yu Duo whispered and turned away.
Listening to the footsteps and making sure that Yu Duo was gone, Fu Sinian unbuttoned his shirt and took it off. He looked at the injury on his waist in the mirror.
It was in a very awkward and inconvenient position.
Cotton bandages and the medicine were placed on one side. He took the cotton bandage in one hand and painstakingly applied the medicine to the wound.
Yu Duo went back to bed and looked at the light coming out of the wardrobe room. She didn’t know why, but there was a feeling of depression in her heart. She felt emotions which made her sleepless.
