[Vol. 2] Chapter 7: Not Easy to Deal With!
Amelia, judging solely from her appearance, exuded an aloof and enchanting aura that deterred people from approaching. As the Duke’s daughter, her demeanor was particularly formidable.
Even though she typically presented herself with a cold and distant attitude in public, no one would think of Amelia Barlen as just an arrogant noble descendant. Within the family, she held immense authority, and she was renowned in the aristocratic circles of the Sith Empire as a prodigious genius with versatile talents.
She possessed genuine talent, and each layer of the halo buff stacked, amplifying her reputation even further. The younger and more famous one became, the more people tended to view them through a special lens. Especially someone like Amelia, who was perfect in appearance, lineage, abilities, and everything else.
Powerful was synonymous with her.
In such circumstances, the sudden softening of the usually aloof Amelia, coupled with words that seemed vulnerable, created a stark contrast, instinctively exciting those who heard it. Ifia was currently experiencing this sensation.
All thoughts of the mission were pushed aside. She felt as if her heart was being bitten by countless ants, making it impossible to restrain the impulse to rush up and shower Amelia with kisses.
Amelia was just too cute!!!
However, Ifia struggled to maintain the last shred of reason. She turned her head away from Amelia, no longer looking at her, and with a slightly bitter tone, she spoke, “Thanks to your help.”
However, before she knew it, as soon as her words fell, Amelia lifted her hand and cupped Ifia’s face, locking eyes with her and making it impossible for Ifia to escape. Although such a gesture carried an air of dominance that brooked no refusal, when it touched the smile at the corner of Amelia’s mouth, Ifia’s subconscious mind automatically filled in the blanks, diluting and normalizing the forcefulness.
It felt as if a seductive demon whispering tempting words into her ear, softening the compulsion.
“Ifia, what’s wrong? Are you still in pain?” Hearing Amelia’s concern, Ifia couldn’t help but nod, seemingly entranced by Amelia’s shimmering purple eyes. In her daze, she foolishly blurted out her thoughts, “Amelia, I think you’re so cute, and I want to give you a kiss.”
Immediately after saying this, Ifia hurriedly covered her mouth, her actions betraying panic. She had just said something extraordinary! Moreover, the roles seemed to be confused! She was the one expecting to be kissed. How did it turn into her wanting to kiss Amelia? Oh heavens, she lost her composure and dared to make such a request to Amelia!
As Ifia’s face turned red, on the verge of exploding due to her own words, her black eyes instinctively dodged. Unexpectedly, Amelia let out a low chuckle and spoke words that made it feel as if one were still in a dream.
“Sure!”
Simultaneously, Amelia released her hand, no longer kneeling, but gradually standing up. Her beautiful purple eyes shimmered like a blend of countless stars. With hands supporting the sides of the chair, she conveniently enclosed Ifia within her reach. When their eyes met at the same level, instead of standing straight, Amelia maintained an equal posture, as if giving Ifia free rein.
Close proximity, audible breaths, an inexplicable restlessness spread. And an indescribable temptation left Ifia enchanted.
She actually raised her hand to encircle Amelia’s neck and, following her inner desires, softly kissed Amelia’s cheek. In that instant, it felt like she had achieved great satisfaction, leaving her feeling dizzy.
She couldn’t believe how daring she had become today! Even though the mission had once again failed!
…………………………………….
Ifia came in high spirits but quickly retreated with a flushed face. Even Amelia couldn’t stop her impulsive retreat as she waited for the rashness to subside.
Ah, what had she done!
[System, I think this mission might be impossible to complete.]
Ifia didn’t immediately return to the dormitory. Instead, she wandered around Pulis Academy. At this moment, she stood by the lake, silently playing with the water using a twig she picked up.
The first failure could be explained by nervousness, but if the second attempt failed too, then she had a problem. Sensing Ifia’s disappointment, the system couldn’t help but sigh. Although the host was a bit clueless, dealing with the Villainess was just too challenging!
It seemed even a demon lord in a high position had mastered the art of seduction.
[Host, don’t be discouraged. Keep trying.]
[But, after the initial enthusiasm, subsequent attempts might lead to decline and exhaustion. I don’t want to continue with missions for a while.]
[No problem, Host. System missions have no time limits. You can do them whenever you feel like it.]
Hearing this, the frustrated Ifia’s mood improved a bit. She silently encouraged herself. Perhaps, the next time would be a success!
She shouldn’t give up too quickly now. Instead, she should recuperate and strive for success on the third attempt. Ifia’s bad mood came and went quickly. After a quick self-adjustment, she returned to the dormitory, changed into a new set of clothes, and transformed back into the cute Jack in male attire. Since it was still early, she could go and replenish her potions.
Ever since getting involved in the witch-hunting incident, Ifia immediately recognized the importance of potions. If she had carried more potions with her last time, she wouldn’t have needed to run away. Instead, she could have fed the opponent a sleeping potion, put them all to sleep, and waited for the arrival of the knights.
Therefore, Ifia silently decided to carry two bottles of sleeping potions with her from now on. Given her level of misfortune, she was bound to get involved in more special events in the future.
“Oh, Jack, long time no see! I’ve missed you so much!”
As Ifia entered the Black Clinic with gold coins in hand, she was almost startled by Lilith’ voice and nearly turned to run. Fortunately, a quick glance revealed the absence of the burly John. This relieved Ifia, who then looked at Lilith, the daughter of the Doctor McFadden. Lilith’s enthusiasm made it difficult for her to resist, especially since McFadden had mentioned Lilith’s desire to kick her boyfriend, John.
With that in mind, encountering John again would undoubtedly lead to a beating!
Thinking about this, Ifia forced a smile and responded, “Lilith, you are as beautiful as ever, making the entire clinic shine because of you.”
“Stop it, Jack, your words are really sweet!”
Unlike the burly and rough Doctor McFadden, Lilith was indeed a very beautiful girl. Coupled with her cheerful personality and the prime of her youth, she was very popular on Roseanne Street. From John’s various precautions against other men, it was evident that he needed to be on guard against potential rivals.
In contrast, Ifia could speak freely in front of Lilith If only she could be the same in front of Amelia, the system’s task would have been completed long ago!
“Jack, did you run out of the sleeping potion you got last time? Oh, you really are the fastest user among all our customers. I didn’t expect that you, who looks so gentle, would have so many enemies!”
McFadden walked out of the pharmacy where he was preparing medicinal powders, teasing Ifia as soon as he saw her. This prompted Lilith to glare at her old father repeatedly, as if telling him not to ask such sensitive questions.
Helpless, McFadden shook his head. A father couldn’t control his grown-up daughter. However, men understand men, and McFadden could see that Jack didn’t have any romantic interest in Lilith. As he said, Jack’s frequent purchases of sleeping potions indicated suspicious activities despite his harmless appearance. So, maintaining the current situation was preferable, and there was no need to take it any further.
“Hey, I don’t want to spend so much money, but recently, I keep getting involved in troublesome matters!”
“McFadden, this time give me two bottles of medicine.”
Listening to McFadden’ banter, Ifia showed a wry smile. Without explaining too much, she increased her demand, causing McFadden to raise an eyebrow. He then made a suggestion, “Jack, I have other potions here. Do you want to take a look?”
“No problem.”
Seeing the opportunity to make more business, McFadden smiled and asked Lilith to accompany Ifia, while he went back to the pharmacy to fetch other potions. Lilith immediately brought out her snacks, urging Ifia to sit down and rest.
This left Ifia with no choice but to sit next to Lilith, listening to her chatter away.
“Jack, do you know that there has been quite a commotion at the church recently?”
As soon as Lilith opened her mouth, Ifia couldn’t help but pause, then immediately became interested. The latest news from the church!
“What happened to the church?”
“The church used to allocate money to help the impoverished, gaining a good reputation. But this time it shied away from the fact that the palace’s relief funds had not yet been distributed, letting the poor people figure out their own solutions first.”
Talking about the church, Lilith lifted her hand to support her face with a mocking expression, not appearing to have faith like others. However, seeing Ifia listening intently, Lilith continued with her story.
“Those poor people who have lost their ability to work are accustomed to living by asking for help. Now that they’ve heard the church won’t take care of them anymore, they naturally refuse to give up easily.”
“So, just yesterday, they attacked the clergy of the church.”
“Many people were injured as a result, and even the pope was frightened. The church is in complete chaos.”
At this point, Lilith couldn’t help but chuckle, clearly delighted about the setback the church faced. However, she quickly realized that Ifia was still sitting next to her. To prevent leaving a bad impression, Lilith hurriedly explained, “The people from the church are not good folks. If it weren’t for them, my dad would still be a renowned doctor in Darwa City, not the illegal doctor on Roseanne Street.”
Obviously, there’s a complex backstory involved, and Ifia nodded in understanding. Seeing that Ifia’s expression was not forced, Lilith felt even happier. She intentionally moved closer to Ifia.
Just as she was about to make efforts for her next romantic pursuit, McFadden happened to come out of the pharmacy with various potions. Sensing an unfavorable situation, Ifia quickly stood up and walked towards McFadden.
Immediately, under Lilith’s resentful gaze, Ifia bought a considerable amount of potions and a special belt designed to carry multiple vials discreetly. The belt had a unique design with hidden pockets, making it difficult for anyone to notice when worn.
However, as good as the belt and potions were, they also cost a lot of money. Ifia’s brought coins were considerably depleted. Just as she finished loading various potions into the concealed pockets of the belt and put it on, intending to compliment McFadden on the belt’s practicality, a plaintive voice echoed.
“Lilith, why did you break up with me? I love you so much. Is there another man deceiving you?”
Ifia discreetly glanced over. Oh my, it’s the sturdy John! Unlike John’s distressed appearance, Lily’s face showed impatience. She snorted and pushed against John’s strong body.
“There’s no other man. I’m just tired of you. You’re always meddling and controlling, with such a strong desire to dominate. I’m a person, not a pet. I have my own freedom.”
“Lilith, I was wrong. I won’t do it again.”
“You always say that, but the next time, you’ll do the same.”
In the midst of the lovers’ quarrel, Ifia sneakily slipped out along the wall, leaving McFadden on the side to watch with interest. He might as well have applauded. Ifia could only roll her eyes in silent exasperation, thinking she had just come to buy medicine! Let her come and go quietly!
However, things never go smoothly. Just as Ifia was about to leave the entrance of the Black Clinic, the sturdy John, instead of performing his determined brick-breaking display, noticed a sneaky figure trying to leave the clinic.
Upon closer inspection, oh boy, wasn’t that the pretty boy who had tried to deceive Lilith?
In an instant, John’s furious imagination ran wild. Anger surged, turning his face a grim shade. Instead of showcasing his brick-breaking skills, he decided to test Ifia’s head hardness with a brick.
Sensing trouble, Ifia didn’t hesitate and quickly dashed away.
Damn, this was just her luck!
………………………………..
With a very healthy body, Ifia successfully escaped yesterday. However, due to her rapid escape, her legs were now sore.
The next day, when she arrived in the classroom, all she wanted was to stay locked in her seat and not move a muscle. Fortunately, each time, Jessica would come over after class to chat. Apart from going to the restroom, Ifia successfully achieved today’s achievement of not leaving her seat.
“Ifia, did you know that the Archbishop from the church has come to Pulis Academy?”
During the casual chat after class, Jessica dropped a bombshell that made Ifia raise an eyebrow involuntarily. Recently, there had been a high frequency of information about the church in the past couple of days.
Ifia didn’t immediately respond. However, Lucy, sitting nearby, looked puzzled and directed a question to Jessica, “Why would the Archbishop from the church come to the academy?”
Some others chimed in, and Jessica chuckled, revealing the information without teasing this time, “I heard they urgently need more people at the church, so they’ve come to our academy to select some students for internships at the church.”
