[Vol. 3] Chapter 16: It’s Just Inevitable

Once again confirming the position of the pirate ship through the periscope, after issuing the preparation command, the captain and several crew members standing by were on high alert, ready to follow orders at any moment. The pirate ship moved unpredictably, making it challenging to lock onto immediately. The crisis was far from over, making time feel agonizingly slow and causing anxiety.

However, contrasting the captain’s worries and fears, Amelia sat casually with a somewhat impatient look in her violet eyes. If it weren’t for Ifia, she wouldn’t bother staying here but rather observe coldly. When the pirates and the crew were engaged enough, she planned to step in and clean up the mess—harvesting numerous tortured souls from tragic deaths, both delighting her mood and feeding her.

A double benefit.

However, with Ifia on the ship now, Amelia couldn’t afford to let the pirates scare her. Therefore, she wouldn’t give the pirates a chance to raise their weapons and would take them down at the first opportunity.

The time for the pirate ship to fall into the trap wasn’t too long. Soon, through the periscope, Amelia locked onto the ship. Her casually seated posture suddenly became serious, and her expression turned stern. She began issuing commands.

“The target is locked.”

“Prepare, position one!”

“Prepare, position three!”

“Prepare, position six!”

As soon as Amelia’s command was issued, the crew immediately opened the safety settings, revealing the concealed cannon control stations. They manipulated the control levers in response to the command, awaiting the final launch order. However, unlike the captain, who remained serious and composed, the crew members varied in their qualities.

While the crew members anxiously waited to complete the command, one of them stood in front of the control panel, pale-faced, biting his lip, and trembling like a sieve, as if he could faint at any moment. Insufficient mental resilience is a significant flaw in such situations.

Amelia quickly noticed the crew member’s abnormal behavior and expressionlessly looked up at him. The piercing gaze intensified the trembling, and he hadn’t yet recovered from the fear of the pirate attack when confronted with Miss Barlen’s cold eyes. His nerves were on the verge of collapsing.

“He’s about to faint. Kosev, replace that person,” Amelia said without giving the timid crew member any more attention. She just glanced at him and immediately instructed the captain to replace him, avoiding any mishaps at a critical moment.

These people’s lives or deaths didn’t matter, but it was crucial not to scare Ifia due to their mistakes. Upon hearing Amelia’s words, the captain also noticed the crew member’s inadequacy. He glared at the timid fellow, disappointed with his poor performance in front of Miss Barlen. It was a disgrace to the captain’s reputation.

“Haven’t you heard Miss Barlen’s words? Hurry up and get out of here! Lisev, after this voyage, you don’t need to continue working on the ship,” Captain Kosev scolded the crew member sternly, ordering him to leave the cockpit immediately.

When the crew member, feeling helpless, attempted to say something, he eventually chose to remain silent. After leaving with a frightened look, Captain Kosev turned to Miss Barlen.

Miss Barlen didn’t even spare him a glance. Instead, she continued to focus on the pirate ship outside, exuding a cold and ruthless demeanor. Kosev couldn’t help but be reminded of his service in the Imperial Army, recalling the sternness of his former commanding officer. However, Miss Barlen, who was less than twenty, possessed such authority.

No wonder, within the noble circles of the Sith Empire, there were quite a few voices supporting Miss Barlen’s ascent to the throne. During this pirate attack, Captain Kosev’s first thought was also of Miss Barlen. As for Prince Carloy… cough, well, there was no other choice. After all, this was the fleet of House Barlen. The top priority was, of course, the Barlen family members, with the royal family taking a back seat. It wasn’t that Captain Kosev thought Prince Carloy was unreliable.

Captain Kosev’s momentary guilt was quickly dispelled by Miss Barlen’s calm and composed demeanor, convincing him that his decision was absolutely correct. However, Amelia paid no attention to others, continuing to focus on the images in the periscope.

“Prepare, position eight.”

“Prepare, position nine.”

While the atmosphere in the cockpit was tense, the situation on the deck of the ship was even worse. As the pirate ship approached, the people on both ships could see each other clearly due to the extremely close distance. When the pirates saw the weak and frightened appearance of the pampered nobles, as well as the luxurious and exquisite facilities on the ship, they burst into laughter.

“Brothers, we hit the jackpot this time, stumbled upon a fat lamb!”

“Look, it’s a real woman, and a beautiful one!”

“Little beauty, don’t be afraid. Big brother will come for you soon.”

Pirates sure knew how to trash talk. While Ifia ignored their vulgar language, originally intending to be just a spectator, the pirates’ whistles and explicit comments towards her frightened Jessica, who was standing nearby.

Ifia couldn’t help but feel exasperated. She looked towards the direction of the pirates and smiled at them. Then, she raised her middle finger, displaying an international gesture of goodwill. To ensure they understood, Ifia kindly added, “You jerks, go **** yourselves, a bunch of *******, thinking you can **** with ***** mushrooms.”

In the previous life, the gaming skills Ifia learned finally found a practical application. It was the pinnacle of foul language, the ultimate enjoyment. Ifia’s choice of words was sharp, her voice resounding. Throughout the process, she greeted the pirates’ elders and countered insults with a variety of colorful expressions.

Jessica, who had been pale-faced due to the pirates’ crude words, now stared in disbelief at Ifia. It was the first time she realized her friend could swear so proficiently!

Compared to Ifia, the group of pirates opposite seemed like inexperienced novices. Clearly, the pirates hadn’t expected a young woman to curse so forcefully. After a moment of stunned silence, they immediately erupted into angry shouts, wishing they could jump directly onto the other ship to personally teach this audacious woman a lesson.

However, the distance between the two ships wasn’t close enough for an easy leap. Ifia, confident and fearless, continued making faces and beckoned Jessica to join her in raising a middle finger at the pirates. Despite normally seeing Jessica as fearless, when faced with a real situation, she seemed a bit timid!

This won’t do. She need to learn more from her.

So, while the nobles and attendants on the deck were trembling with fear from the pirates, Ifia and Jessica, relying on their own efforts, infuriated the pirates to the point of jumping with anger.

Ifia laughed heartily, enjoying the moment since Amelia wasn’t around, allowing herself to be carefree. However, just as Ifia was thinking of launching another verbal attack, the next moment, a deafening explosion echoed.

The ship shook violently, causing Ifia to almost fall, but Jessica managed to catch her in time. Once they steadied themselves, they surveyed the surroundings.

The pirate ship in front had a massive hole blasted into its front half. Seawater relentlessly poured into the hole, causing the pirate ship to rapidly sink. This left the pirates, who were just moments ago furious and jumping around, in a state of panic. They quickly released small boats in an attempt to transfer to the ship behind them.

“Quick, we’ve run into a tough opponent.”

“This isn’t an ordinary fleet, they actually have cannons!”

“Don’t advance any further, reverse! Hurry up and get us out of here!”

The pirate leader, seasoned by numerous experiences, immediately wore a tense expression and signaled his crew to retreat when the thunderous explosion occurred.

Having sailed these waters for so many years, he never expected to miscalculate this time. Which country’s fleet is equipped with cannon weapons? Could it be a royal entourage? Regardless, today is a defeat, and they must retreat quickly. Otherwise, staying here would mean awaiting bombardment by cannons.

No wonder that little vixen on the ship was so bold. Turns out, she had an ace up her sleeve!

However, even though they can’t be dealt with this time, there will be another chance in the future! This ship has to return, and when it does, they will set up an ambush in advance. After swallowing these armed ships, they can expand their territory and absorb all the surrounding pirates.

The pirate leader secretly thought that there’s a long road ahead, then immediately ordered his men to row the small boat, quickly boarding the ship to leave the area.

However, before they could board, the thunderous sound rang out once again. The pirates wanted to leave but were too late! If they dared to come, they shouldn’t think about leaving. Everyone, stay here! Even though the other pirate ships in the rear saw the danger and desperately tried to change course, attempting to escape the cannon’s coverage area, it was already too late.

Amelia in the cockpit, in order to wait for them to fall into the trap, had spent considerable time and effort. How could she let them leave unharmed?

In an instant, the cannons fired consecutively, with no room for escape. Just like Amelia Barlen’s ruthless demeanor. Since they had already taken action, they wouldn’t leave any threats behind. Therefore, under precise bombardment, none of the other pirate ships escaped unscathed, all were hit by the cannons.

The wooden structure of the pirate ships provided no protection against the cannon fire. After being hit and punctured by the cannonballs, the hulls started to rapidly fill with seawater, causing several ships to lose control and descend uncontrollably, gradually being submerged. Some unfortunate ships were directly torn apart into pieces upon being hit by cannonballs.

The pirates still on the ships faced the threat of death, and like the aristocrats they had initially looked down upon, they were now terrified. Some pirates, in a gesture of surrender, found white cloth from somewhere and waved it over their heads.

The pirates alternated between screams of terror and loud curses. However, the cannons continued to bombard them, including the small boat where the pirate leader was, turning it into fragments with a direct hit from one of the cannons.

In the cockpit, Amelia saw through the viewing glass that the pirate crisis had been resolved. Meanwhile, the captain, informed by other crew members running back and forth, learned that all the pirate ships had been hit by cannonballs and sunk. Upon hearing this news, Captain Kosev tightened his fist excitedly, thinking that he had indeed chosen the right person. Miss Barlen was truly outstanding!

Just as Captain Kosev was about to express his admiration, Amelia stood up from the pilot’s seat. Instead of caring about these insignificant people, she was more eager to see Ifia now.
