[Vol. 3] Chapter 78: Illusory Realm (6) – Can’t Escape Anymore

Upon seeing Amelia, Ifia finally breathed a sigh of relief. As she settled into the familiar carriage, her entire being relaxed. Just as she was about to look outside, she noticed that the window was covered with multiple layers of lace veils, making it impossible to see beyond.

When did this extra layer appear?

Due to the absence of a coachman, the versatile maid Amelia was at the reins, steering the carriage steadily forward. Unable to converse with Amelia at this moment, Ifia suppressed her curiosity and instead raised her hand to support her chin, contemplating what to do next.

Though unaware of the terms of the deal between Count Henry and Prince Carloy, the relentless pursuit by Prince Carloy indicated that it was not a simple matter. Ifia needed to depart as soon as possible.

With Amelia’s assistance now available, she could easily reclaim her small treasury and escape. However, the sudden appearance of Amelia might also be orchestrated on the Count’s orders, leading her back to the Count’s mansion!

Just as she began to think smartly, Ifia found herself increasingly frustrated, resembling a puffed-up pufferfish. Hopefully, Amelia’s arrival was not solely at the behest of Count Henry!

Otherwise, she would use her remaining potion to bewitch Amelia and then engage in a binding play, making it clear who the true master was!

(???#)

Unable to suppress her wandering thoughts, time swiftly passed, and soon they arrived at the courtyard gate of the Count’s mansion. Once the carriage came to a halt, Amelia opened the door from the outside and raised her hand to assist Ifia in alighting. However, the otherwise obedient young lady threw a small tantrum at this moment.

Ifia remained seated and unresponsive on the chair, her intense gaze fixed firmly on Amelia. She resembled a cautious little creature assessing potential danger. However, in the face of absolute force, even the most vigilant watchfulness is futile.

Nevertheless, Amelia remained unperturbed, silently locking eyes with Ifia. In hunting, one does not immediately snap at the prey’s throat. Rather, there’s a bit of playful teasing before the devouring, especially when dealing with such an adorable prey like Ifia. Swallowing her whole in one bite would be a waste of a precious creature. It requires savoring slowly.

“Amelia, are you bringing me home because of my father, Count Henry’s, orders?” Ifia’s inquiry wasn’t aggressive. Instead, it carried a hint of pitiable helplessness.

Unaware of this, she continued to play the role of a young lady, presenting a truly endearing appearance with her teary-eyed expression.

In Amelia’s eyes, not even demons could escape, so without waiting for Ifia to react, Amelia directly stepped onto the carriage. Seated across from Ifia, Amelia reached out and grabbed her hand.

After holding the soft hand in her palm, she spoke with a seemingly puzzled expression, “Miss Ifia, what are you talking about? I simply noticed your absence and started investigating, it has nothing to do with anyone else.”

“You… you were looking for me?”

As soon as Amelia spoke, Ifia stood still. Initially appearing desperate like a homeless waif, she suddenly perked up. Her sparkling black eyes carried a look of surprise, and she leaned in eagerly. The proximity was so close that a slight bow of the head would result in touching each other’s soft lips.

However, in her excited state, Ifia failed to notice and continued to playfully and stubbornly declare, “Hmph, I knew it, Amelia, you like me too, that’s why you were looking for me. Since that’s the case, then leave with me!”

“Don’t worry, the compensation Count Henry can offer you, I, Ifia, can also provide.”

Watching the young lady so joyous, Amelia felt a bit reluctant, thinking about the unique scenes she would witness later. However, being a demon who relishes in human suffering, Amelia nodded at Ifia at this moment. Overjoyed, Ifia, to prevent any potential regret from Amelia, promptly disembarked from the carriage to retrieve her small treasury.

Not a moment to waste!

Upon entering the Count’s mansion, to avoid detection by Count Henry, Ifia intentionally took a concealed route through the small paths.

However, the mansion was unusually silent today, devoid even of the chirping of birds. Ifia felt a sense of puzzlement, but with the primary objective being escape, she decided not to let curiosity impede her progress.

However, sometimes, restraining curiosity doesn’t ensure smooth sailing.

“Miss… Ifia, please save me. I don’t want… to die…”

At the junction where the path turned, the stable boy who led Ifia to Prince Carloy’s residence crawled towards her, his face covered in fresh blood. When Ifia lowered her gaze, she discovered that the lower half of the stable boy’s body was missing.

The horrifying scene startled Ifia.

Before her brain could fully process, her body was already in motion. She quickly raised her hand, encircling Amelia’s waist, and buried her face in Amelia’s embrace, resembling a timid ostrich encountering danger.

“Amelia, what on earth happened? It’s so frightening.”

Ifia’s voice trembled. Already not possessing much courage, she now appeared even paler, trembling uncontrollably.

“I don’t know either.”

Amelia forcefully lifted Ifia, steadying her on her feet. Seeing that Ifia was genuinely terrified, Amelia, devoid of malicious intent, refrained from subjecting her to further horrific scenes.

Seeing Ifia so timid, Amelia’s initially eager anticipation for some entertainment turned into a strange sense of frustration, devoid of the desire to play tricks. It seemed she had invested too much attention in her prey. This was not normal. Amelia’s expression darkened, and her violet eyes cast a cold glance. The stable boy who had been struggling instantly ceased breathing, his body stiffening as he collapsed to the ground, dead.

“Miss Ifia, would you like to go somewhere else?”

“Will you accompany me?”

“…Certainly.”

Faced with Ifia’s hopeful expression, Amelia found herself unable to refuse. However, when Ifia took the initiative to hold hands, the soft touch alleviated some of Amelia’s annoyance, and soon she stopped dwelling on it. Instead, other thoughts occupied her mind. For instance, Ifia was fragrant and soft, making Amelia want to devour her.

Amelia tried to suppress the invading desires within, leading Ifia along the main road of the Count’s mansion. Unlike the quietness of the smaller paths, the main road displayed corpses at every turn, their deaths particularly gruesome. The injuries didn’t resemble those inflicted by normal humans, instantly making Ifia think of the word “demon.”

Linking it to Count Henry’s previous abnormal behavior, the correct answer became apparent. Count Henry had dealings with demons, but for some unknown reason, the deal fell apart, resulting in the entire mansion becoming a graveyard.

Ifia remained indifferent to the fate of her supposed father.

She hesitated, contemplating whether to continue retrieving her small treasury or to turn and run directly. The uneasy feeling of knowingly heading towards danger was unpleasant, yet leaving penniless would lead to destitution and hardship. After much consideration, Ifia decided to press on. She couldn’t afford to be without money.

However, she decided to proceed alone, without the company of Amelia.

“Amelia, wait here for a moment. I’ll be back soon.”

If she encountered demons, Ifia thought, she could face her death, but she couldn’t let innocent Amelia be harmed. She didn’t want anything to happen to her.

After Amelia initially refused, Ifia had to assert her status as a young lady and demand that Amelia obey.

“Amelia, don’t worry. I’ll definitely come back!”

With determination in her voice, Ifia turned and walked away, resisting the urge to look back. Little did she know, Amelia, standing behind her, underwent a transformation – her violet eyes turned completely red.

The handsome maid attire disappeared without a trace, replaced by a tight-fitting black dress that accentuated sensual curves. Simultaneously, demonic horns emerged, accompanied by a tail swaying in mid-air.

“So adorable, but you can’t escape, oh.”

Amelia watched as Ifia’s figure gradually faded away, and she reverted to her true demonic form, causing her expression to become sinister. Her overly radiant smile took on a peculiar quality, while her red eyes revealed a chilling malevolence.

Now that Ifia was acting alone, encountering gruesome corpses no longer affected her. She had learned to turn a blind eye to the skill, keeping her shoe soles as blood-free as possible, heading purposefully towards her room.

However, en route to her room, which required passing through the main hall, she unexpectedly saw Count Henry still alive. In contrast to the tragic fate of the mansion’s servants, Count Henry seemed unharmed, only bound by some black vines restricting his movements.

“Ifia, quickly save me, cut these vines!” Count Henry’s mouth was not gagged, and he loudly pleaded for help, seemingly unconcerned about attracting monsters that might attack Ifia.

Ifia, equally indifferent to Count Henry as her supposed father, cast a cold glance and then chose to turn away. This action enraged Count Henry, who erupted in a vehement tirade, “Ifia, you unfilial daughter, daring to ignore me! You will pay for your arrogance!”

“Even though I don’t know how you managed to escape, Prince Carloy will never let you go.”

“The Supreme Demon will eventually devour everything, and everyone will face death.”

Ifia dismissed Count Henry’s words as the ramblings of a madman, paying them no heed. Upon finally reaching her room, fortunately untouched by others, Ifia quickly uncovered her accumulated small treasury through some rummaging. She then wrapped it up in a sheet, creating a makeshift bundle.

Despite her desire to move the entire wardrobe, it was evidently an impossible task. With a sigh, Ifia left the room, effortlessly carrying her small bundle. Passing through the main hall once again, Count Henry remained controlled by the black vines, unable to move.

While acknowledging the impossibility of saving her supposed father from his predicament, Ifia decided to offer some verbal comfort.

“Father, please rest assured. I have money, and even if I leave, I can live on my own. Oh, no, wait, the new maid, Amelia, will also leave with me. With her taking care of me, you can safely await your fate here!”

Ifia felt triumphant, eager to let the world know that she had taken Amelia away. However, upon hearing Amelia’s name, Count Henry’s expression abruptly turned ferocious. Despite being restrained by the black vines, he struggled fiercely. Even as the vines cut into his flesh, he paid no mind, fixating angrily on Ifia.

“It’s you, it’s all because of you that I’ve failed!”

Count Henry’s eyes were bloodshot, and he seemed to be in a fit of impotent rage. Ifia, puzzled but not inclined to investigate, was uninterested in delving into the matter. With freedom now within reach, she couldn’t be bothered with anything else.

However, after the initial excitement, Count Henry quickly became calm. Just as Ifia was about to leave, he suddenly spoke, “Do you think Amelia is an ordinary person?”

This sentence successfully made Ifia pause. Turning around with a look of confusion, she gazed at Count Henry, who ignored her and continued, “Hahaha, you’re so foolish not to recognize Amelia’s extraordinary nature until now. Ifia, you really don’t seem like my child.”

“……”

“To be honest with you, Amelia is a high-ranking demon I summoned for my service. She will bless me with success in everything I do, as long as…”

Count Henry’s words were abruptly cut off, almost as if he had hit a snag. Soon after, the sound of high heels tapping on the ground echoed, approaching rapidly from a distance.

Feeling a sense of foreboding, Ifia turned to look and saw a woman standing near the entrance of the mansion, dressed in a tight black dress. Her graceful figure exuded an overwhelming sensuality, and she wore an exaggerated black hat, concealing her face and leaving much to the imagination.

Ifia widened her eyes, sensing something was amiss.

Silently praying to the gods, she hoped that…

“Ifia, in front of demons, the gods are nothing but decorations.”

Unfortunately, Ifia’s prayer went unanswered. The woman chuckled, lifted her hand, and removed the black hat.

In the next moment, the stunningly beautiful face of Amelia was revealed, her captivating purple eyes transforming into a deep red. Additionally, the demonic horns on her head validated Count Henry’s earlier claim.

Amelia turned out to be a real demon!
