[Vol. 3] Chapter 97: This Candy Is Sour
Ifia was waiting for the mermaid Desalo to speak again when she suddenly heard Amelia’s voice.
This made her turn around in confusion, only to see Amelia standing behind her, wearing a black nightgown that hugged her sensual curves tightly. As the sea breeze blew, it lifted the hem of her dress in a casual manner.
Standing there with her silver hair cascading behind her, illuminated by the moonlight, and her lazy purple eyes half-closed, it was hard to discern her expression.
Her beautiful face bore a mysterious smile, dazzling and captivating. Ifia was mesmerized, feeling a sense of enchantment witnessing such beauty under the moonlight.
However, the situation for the targeted mermaid Desalo wasn’t as pleasant.
Suppressed by the demon’s magic, her body was wracked with intense pain, as if being pierced by countless sharp weapons, over and over again in a relentless cycle, as though she would burst into pieces at any moment.
Her fishtail twisted and thrashed underwater in agony, creating violent waves, yet strangely, the surface of the water remained calm nearby, as if the underwater and above-water worlds were completely separate.
While Desalo endured unbearable pain, Ifia, oblivious to the hidden currents, suddenly snapped out of her infatuation and joyfully raised her lips in a smile. Taking a few quick steps forward, she reached out and grabbed Amelia’s arm, pulling her along.
Excitedly, Ifia exclaimed, “Amelia, guess what I encountered! It’s a mermaid!”
Without waiting for a response, she answered her own question, eager to share. It was like getting an incredibly delicious candy and wanting to share it with your favorite companion. However, the companion receiving the “candy” wasn’t so thrilled because it turned out to be sour.
As Amelia, led by Ifia, stood at the railing and looked down, her cold purple eyes grew even icier upon seeing the beautiful mermaid. Her murderous intent intensified, making Desalo, the mermaid, feel even heavier and more painful.
Her sense of danger was immediately heightened, and she wanted nothing more than to escape from this perilous place and never return. However, determined to fulfill her mission, Desalo gritted her teeth. She couldn’t just leave like this!
Seeing Desalo stubbornly refusing to leave, Amelia let out a disdainful hum, her displeasure evident in her heavy gaze. She inwardly desired to kill this mermaid who had angered the demon.
How dare she appear before Ifia and try to seduce her Ifia!
Before Amelia could act, however, Ifia’s puzzled voice sounded beside her. This timely intervention brought Amelia back to her senses. In order to maintain her image in Ifia’s eyes and temporarily conceal her identity as a demon, Amelia had no choice but to restrain herself.
Although she couldn’t immediately kill the mermaid, once out of Ifia’s sight, there would be no restrictions. Anything attempting to deceive Ifia deserved to die!
As Amelia restrained herself, Desalo felt some of the pressure lift from her. Though filled with fear of the demon, she mustered the courage to speak up at this moment.
“Hello, I mean no harm. I simply wish to ask for your help!”
Desalo had originally hoped to avoid confronting the unpredictable high-level demon, but now she had no choice. Due to her partner, Silia, she was not devoid of emotional experiences.
She understood the reason behind the demon’s hostility towards her, it was because of Ifia. The demon’s possessiveness was strong!
To avoid further misunderstandings, Desalo dared not look at Ifia again. Instead, she turned to the demon and continued, “My partner, Silia, was captured by the Xero fleet and is still trapped on that ship. I hope you can lift your protection from the Xero fleet!”
At the mention of Silia’s name, sadness washed over Desalo’s beautiful face, and tears fell uncontrollably. They quickly transformed into pearls, falling into the sea and disappearing.
Knowing this was not the time for sadness, Desalo gathered her resolve. Despite her concerns for her partner’s safety, she remained determined to do whatever it took to ensure Silia’s safe return.
“It may put you in a difficult position, but what the Xero fleet can offer is merely ordinary. I can present something much more precious.”
Desalo finished speaking, producing a giant clamshell from somewhere. She held it in one hand and lightly tapped it with the other, causing the shell to open.
Immediately, a gentle white light emanated from within. Upon closer inspection, one could see a round blue gem resting in the center of the shell. It was roughly the size of a coin but emitted a powerful glow, akin to a small light bulb.
Ifia was curious about this self-illuminating blue gem. She reached out, grasping the railing and leaning forward to get a better look.
Since arriving in this world, she had been cut off from electricity, relying on various oil lamps for illumination. She had never seen anything that emitted light on its own before!
She really wanted it!
One choice was the disappointing Xero blood diamond, while the other was the miraculous self-illuminating blue gem. Ifia decisively chose the latter. If necessary, she would even use all the gold obtained from her trip to the Taric Kingdom as collateral!
Although not as valuable as the Xero blood diamond, she could sell it… and then work by Amelia’s side after graduating from the Pulis Academy. Hehe~
Of course, besides coveting the miraculous treasure of the merfolk, the most important thing is to punish evil and promote good. The Xero fleet’s capture and imprisonment of merfolk is wrongdoing, they should stand on the side of justice rather than aiding tyranny.
However, even special creatures like the merfolk know how formidable Amelia is, coming directly to her. Thinking about how impressive Amelia is, Ifia immediately straightened her posture with pride.
Then, with eyes full of anticipation, she looked at Amelia, her thoughts plainly displayed on her face. If Amelia disagreed, there was a good chance she would act coquettishly.
After Desalo mentioned she already had a partner and expressed her attitude, Amelia’s anger quickly faded, and the pain that had trapped Desalo’s body disappeared. Amelia then reached out and pinched Ifia’s soft cheek, asking in a resigned tone, “Do you like it that much?”
It’s just something that lights up.
Not long ago, Ifia liked the Xero blood diamond, but now she had changed her mind in the blink of an eye. So, when she said she liked the Demon’s Eyes, was it just a casual remark?
Unintentionally, Amelia’s mood soured. She glanced coldly at Desalo in the water, already considering how to torture this mermaid.
The system, secretly peeking, couldn’t help but want to scream.
Its host always seems to be walking on a tightrope in the sky!
One wrong step and she could fall straight down, shattering into pieces…
Despite the villainess now appearing so gentle and kind, it’s just a false facade!
The real villainess is a cruel and ruthless demon.
Once the host angers her, things like imprisonment and brainwashing are entirely possible for her to personally carry out!
While the system was deeply worried, Ifia earnestly said, “This gemstone lights up, which looks really interesting! As for the Xero blood diamond… I originally wanted to collect one because it’s said it resembles the eyes of demons.”
“But, after seeing the real thing, I found it a bit overrated.”
As she spoke, Ifia grimaced, feeling deceived by the exaggeration between what was advertised and what was sold. Although the Xero blood diamond is indeed beautiful, it doesn’t seem like the Demon’s Eyes at all.
“Although I haven’t truly seen the real Demon’s Eyes, I always feel it should be more beautiful than the Xero blood diamond, so I’m a bit disappointed with it.”
Ifia gestured with her hand to emphasize her point. After finishing her statement, she sneakily glanced at Amelia, hoping she wouldn’t find her troublesome! If Amelia thought so, she would declare a one-minute breakup.
However, contrary to what Ifia expected, hearing that the real Demon’s Eyes was even more beautiful, made Amelia’s lips unconsciously curve into a smile, her eyes sparkling with joy, a very pleasant demeanor that directly lifted the silent alarm from the system.
Phew!
Another thrilling escape day!
As Ifia stared blankly at Amelia, Amelia raised her hand and gently patted her head. The lingering smile in her purple eyes instantly dispelled the usual cold distance, making people unable to resist wanting to get closer.
“Well then, I’ll take it.”
After saying this to Ifia, Amelia immediately turned her head to look at Desalo in the water. This mermaid should be thankful to Ifia.
Otherwise, her soul would be doomed to wail miserably in the realm of the abyss. However, due to Ifia’s obsession with beauty, Amelia still didn’t have a good impression of Desalo.
Without showing any warmth towards Ifia, Amelia spoke in a businesslike tone, “The treasure you mentioned only lights up?”
“Of course not. This is our merfolk’s treasure, the ‘Tears of Truth.’ Using it allows one to hear the thoughts of others.”
Upon hearing Desalo’s slightly anxious response, Ifia couldn’t help but exclaim inwardly.
Hearing the thoughts of others?
Telepathy?
