Chapter 222

“I did write it.” Zhao Zhi’s eyebrows gradually relaxed. He remained silent for a long time, before saying, “Isn’t it just a name? Anyway, they all thought you were dead.”
Why not just choose another name randomly ?
Ming Zhu’s brain buzzed because of anger after hearing this. Was he absolutely determined to marry her?
Ming Zhu silently curled up on herself, not bothering to ask anything.
Zhao Zhi hugged her, unwilling to let go.
Ming Zhu was not feeling well, and her temper was not good these days, she said, “Don’t hold me, I want to bathe.”
She felt as if her body stank of a foul odor and her clothes were sticky because of the sweat, which was very uncomfortable.
Zhao Zhi ordered the servants to go bring hot water into the room. The wooden tub behind the screen was letting out steam, and the maidservant had spread a layer of fresh flower petals on top of the water.
Zhao Zhi insisted on carrying Ming Zhu from the bed to the bath tub. He then put his fingers on the buttons of her lapel.
Ming Zhu felt both shame and anger, and as she tightly held on to her clothes, she angrily said, “I’ll do it myself.”
Zhao Zhi faintly swept two glances at her, his eyebrows were slightly knitted together, a little concerned, but seeing her icy eyes he silently withdrew his fingers and retreated, standing outside of the screen, “Call me if there is anything.”
The only thing Ming Zhu would tell him now was to scram.
She took off her clothes one by one, climbed into the bath tub, slowly got into the warm water, and soaked her body inside until the water was almost cold, before reluctantly coming out of the bath tub.
Clean clothes, just brought in by the maidservant, were hanging on the screen. Ming Zhu dried her body and put on the new clothes. There were water droplets on her face and when she walked out of the screen, it was like she was bringing with her a watery mist.
Water droplets, one by one, were falling along the ends of her black hair, making her look thoroughly wet.
Her body suddenly rose up in the air, as Zhao Zhi carried her in his arms to the bed.
The man was afraid she would get cold and wrapped her up in a blanket. He held her chin with one hand and a clean handkerchief in the other hand, as he patiently wiped her face.
Ming Zhu struggled to get down from the bed, but she wasn’t even wearing socks, her pair of small snow-white feet were exposed, so her toes and heels turned a little red, looking like they were frozen.
Zhao Zhi took the little feet that she had just stuck out back into the blanket, “Now that you’ve washed up, go to bed.”
“I want to wipe my hair.”
“I’ll do it.”
Zhao Zhi got up and went to find a clean towel and sat back down next to her, his expression was focused and his movements gentle as he wiped her hair.
Ming Zhu felt uncomfortable all over her body, the nicer Zhao Zhi was to her, the deeper her disgust for him grew.
A large part of her aversion for him was because he was always so forceful.
All mighty and not caring about her dignity or feelings.
Doing whatever he wanted to.
It didn’t take long for Zhao Zhi to finish drying her hair, his fingers stroked over her long black delicate hair, somewhat reluctant to take his hands off.
He curled up a strand with his thumb, loosely tied it to his fingertips, and lowered his head to look at it, somewhat lost in thought.
Ming Zhu couldn’t wait to get inside the blanket and roll into the innermost part of the bed, as if even her back was resisting his touch.
Ming Zhu closed her eyes and very quickly fell into a deep sleep.
Ming Zhu had a beautiful dream for the first time in a long time, in which she went back to the year she had just reached maturity.
She was still the unfavored little concubine-born daughter of the family, living neither good nor bad days, not having much money, even when she saved it.
She had to complete the orders her legitimate sister gave her every morning very early, and then she took advantage of the time when the doorkeeper was slacking off to sneak out of the residence, using the back door.
She was eager to run to the school that Wei Chiyu was attending, and she stood under a tree with a red face, waiting for him to finish school for the day.
Seeing her foolishly hiding behind the tree, Wei Chiyu found her funny and pulled her out. He opened the paper fan in his hand to shield her from the sun, while saying, “Didn’t I tell you not to come and wait for me anymore?”
Ming Zhu’s voice was almost inaudible, “I have nothing to do ah.”
Wei Chiyu smiled, his complexion turned a little red as he took her hand and led her to a small restaurant outside the school.
Ming Zhu felt like she was sitting on pins and needles, “Let’s quickly leave.”
With one glance, she could tell this kind of place was very expensive.
Wei Chiyu ordered a few of the dishes on their signboard, and then paid some money to a little employee of the restaurant to run an errand for him, by going to another street to buy two pastries.
Ming Zhu ate the dishes while feeling sorry for his money.
Wei Chiyu asked, “Are you full?”
Ming Zhu nodded: “Yes, I’m full.”
Wei Chiyu went to pay the bill, took her hand and then went back home with her.
