AIWON Mall Isekai Store, Grand Opening Today! - Chapter 126
Episode 10-28
It’s been 27 days since I became the manager of Aion Mall Otherworldly Store
I was on “Twin Dragon Island,” where Barbera’s parents and the dragonkin, known as the Iguanans, live.
“With this, we’ve secured transportation. You’ll supply us with seafood, right?”
“Yeah! Leave that to me!”
“Good, good, good. At the supermarket, we’ll sell fresh fish, dried fish, preserved goods, and prepared dishes. Oh, and we’ll sell sauces together with them.”
“Human, don’t forget to offer your cooking to us.”
“My, my. It seems you really liked that dish.”
“Understood. If I think of it as rent, it’s a small price to pay. I’ll bring it when I fly over. Though, it’s still too cheap, so I’ll think of something.”
“Oh? Then you can bring my daughter with you.”
“That won’t be good for her. Barbera-chan has decided to stand on her own.”
“…I’ll visit sometimes. Papa, Mama, will you come?”
“Eh? Barbera, if the ‘Crimson Legendary Fire King Dragon and Water Queen Dragon’ show up, won’t that cause a commotion?”
“Fuhahaha! If Barbera asks, Papa will do his best! If humans cause a fuss, we’ll just get rid of them!”
“Don’t worry, Naoya. We’ll fly at night. It would only be bothersome if the weak humans tried to challenge us.”
“Uh, well, in that case, I guess it’s fine…? Is it really fine?”
I tilted my head in confusion.
Barbera copied me, and then her parents followed suit, tilting their heads as well.
The iguana at my feet shook its head.
The wyverns that filled the beach of Twin Dragon Island had all returned to their homes, save for the one designated as “transportation.” With just one command from Barbera’s parents to “disperse,” they left without complaint. Well, they couldn’t really complain anyway—they can’t talk.
“…So, Iguanas can speak, but wyverns can’t. What’s going on in this otherworld?”
“Did you say something, manager-san?”
“Oh, no, nothing. Well then, shall we head to Aion Mall Otherworldly Store? But first, let’s stop by the port town for supplies.”
“Whoa there, Manager-san! What are you saying? You’ll cause a commotion!”
“Huh? But you said there wouldn’t be a problem with the wyvern.”
“Yeah, but it’s not just the wyvern. You can’t ride this thing. If you fly on the young lady’s back, that’ll cause an uproar.”
“What? I can’t ride it? I thought I had solved the transportation problem. Great, just great…”
“Well, you’re not wrong about solving the problem. Humans are too heavy to ride wyverns, but… you can’t forget about me!”
The iguana dramatically raised one leg.
He swiftly ran and leaped, showing off an incredible jump.
Judging by the sand blowing around his feet, it must’ve been wind magic.
The iguana landed gracefully on the wyvern’s neck.
The wyvern stayed calm and obedient.
“I’ll pack this backpack full of fresh seafood and make trips between the port town and Aion Mall Otherworldly Store! From today, Quano of the dragonkin will be a Dragon Rider!”
Standing on two legs on the wyvern’s neck, the iguana lifted the brim of his hat with his front paws.
The other iguanas scattered across the forest and beach let out strange cries of “Kekyo!” Oh, they can all make noise, just like they can talk. I wonder if that’s supposed to be cheering.
“By the way, your name is Quano, right?”
“Yeah! From now on, nice to meet you, Manager!”
“Nice to meet you too… Wait. You were in the port town just a couple of days after we first met at Aion Mall, right?”
“Oh, that was a favor for Aniki. I had to check out that big store! I didn’t know the young lady was there, though!”
“Wha—! You, just now…”
“Dear? Didn’t you promise to watch over her silently, even if you were worried?”
“W-Well, Barbera is still so small, and besides, I wasn’t the one who moved. It was necessary for watching over her.”
“Ah, I see. So you were in the port town on an errand, and they requested your strength?”
“Exactly! But hold on! You were the one going off with our precious daughter, the human, and Claudine’s daughter, Anna, without telling me!”
“What’s done is done.”
“That’s not fair! Then I will—”
“…No fighting.”
Barbera stepped between her parents, who had lowered their heads and were bumping their horns together.
As the rulers of fire and water, steam was rising from where their horns met.
Just when I thought I should probably get out of the way, Barbera grabbed both of their hands with her tiny ones and made them shake hands.
“Hmph. Fighting is not good. Papa and Mama weren’t fighting, Barbera. It was a debate.”
“That’s right, Barbera-chan. It was necessary to make this thick-headed man understand.”
“…No.”
When Barbera looked up at them from below, her parents’ horns separated, and the steam stopped.
It seems they aren’t the kind of parents who would keep fighting after being scolded by their child.
“Oh, by the way, I saw a wyvern on my first morning in this world… Could it be, Quano-san, that you were around there 27 days ago?”
“Hm? Oh, that was probably when I was getting supplies. There are some things you can only buy in that town.”
So the dogfight I saw that made me realize I was in another world—the one with the fire-breathing bird and wyvern—was caused by this iguana, or rather, this dragonkin, Quano-san.
“That was YOUUUU! I mean, I’m grateful for making me realize this was another world so quickly, but still! I wasn’t scared back then either, but still!”
“U-uh?”
“…Don’t worry about it. Naoya gets like this sometimes.”
“I-I see. The manager has it tough, huh?”
It’s been 27 days since I became the manager of Aion Mall Otherworldly Store
I’ve secured a seafood supplier and transportation between the port town and the mall.
Looks like the supermarket section will be well-stocked starting today.
…Oh.
Since I can’t ride a wyvern, I’ll have to sneak back at night on Barbera’s back again.
But tomorrow, the supermarket section will be in great shape!
