~End of chapter 124

The monkeys on the tree, after the shock, started squeaking and shouting in their direction, but they just didn’t dare to come down. One female monkey, however, suddenly became rash and restless, she leaped down from a high branch, fell to the ground and rolled around a few times. Not even caring about the pain, she immediately rushed and then stopped at five to six meters away from Mu Qing, her eyes staring at the little monkey on the ground, squeaking anxiously.

Xiao Hei was interrupted and looked very unhappy. Looking up at the female monkey, another deep and low roaring sound came from his throat, full of threatening intent.

The female monkey looked a little frightened, but instead of leaving, she slowly approached, her eyes looking at Mu Qing from time to time, as if she was begging for pity.

Chapter 125

(39.3)

Mu Qing had a flash of realization. The little monkey that Xiao Hei caught was most likely the child of the female monkey, which was the reason why the female monkey jumped down to save it.

Seeing that the female monkey not only did not leave, but instead was getting closer and closer, Xiao Hei fiercely let out a roar and extended his claws, revealing its white teeth as if it was about to pounce on the female monkey’s head and face.

Mu Qing hurriedly hugged Xiao Hei from the back. Its strength was much greater than she thought, and Xiao Hei almost escaped from her grip. It was only when she urgently shouted out, that Xiao Hei then stopped, twisting its head to look at her, with a somewhat aggrieved look.

The female monkey, as if waking up from a dream, pulled one of the little monkey’s legs just in front of Xiao Hei, and quickly went up the tree, half dragging and half carrying the little monkey. Accompanied by a sharp hiss, the monkeys disappeared into the trees as if they had suddenly turned invisible.

This trouble could be considered solved for the time being. The monkeys had just suffered a blow, so she estimated that in the short term they most likely would be more restrained. Mu Qing did not expect the usually playful Xiao Hei to be so intimidating, and she couldn’t resist stroking the fur on his body vigorously, thinking about whether ot not she should train him in the future, so that he would be less naughty, and do some work instead.

At night when Li Mang came back, Mu Qing told him about what happened during the day, and pointed out the white spots on the back of Xiao Hei’s neck and posterior nape to him, looking at him curiously.

Their daily communication could pretty much be considered smooth by now, and while they sometimes had some misunderstandings, but it wasn’t much of a problem.

She thought that if she didn’t know what species Xiao Hei really was, he, a man who had grown up in the jungle, would know. However, unexpectedly, Li Mang reached out and touched Xiao Hei’s back, with the same puzzled look on his face. It was obvious that he had never seen such a beast before either.

Mu Qing was a little disappointed. But very quickly, she decided not to care anymore. No matter what Xiao Hei was, it would definitely become powerful in the future anyway, and most importantly, it only listened to her, which was all she needed to know.

Li Mang couldn’t stop pressing and squeezing on Xiao Hei’s back with his hands, studying it incessantly. Most likely, Xiao Hei didn’t like this somewhat rough treatment from its male owner very much, and with a wail, it escaped from Li Mang’s hands and ran over to Mu Qing’s side and plopped down, before tilting its head and closing its eyes to rest.

Since the previous incident, the monkeys really did behave a lot more for a few days, occasionally a few of them came down intending to make trouble, but they were stopped by the female monkey.

Mu Qing sighed in relief. It seemed that the monkeys were really conscious of the situation. One morning, a few days later, after she accompanied Li Mang on his way out to hunt and came back, she actually found a pile of nuts at the entrance of the cave. She froze for a moment, wondering how all these things could have appeared out of nowhere.

When she saw the bunch of messy monkey paw and footprints that were near the cave entrance, it dawned on her that it was the group of monkeys that had delivered those here while they were away.

The female monkey was showing gratitude. This made Mu Qing somewhat touched. After all, the initial cause of this conflict was the fact that she and Li Mang had intruded into their habitat first. After thinking about it, she took a leaf package of dried fish and dried meat and put it under the big tree they usually frequented, before leaving.

There was only so much she could do.

The next day, when she passed by there, she noticed that the package was gone, the monkeys on the trees had disappeared with it to who knows where.

Mu Qing went to take a look for several days in a row, but the group of monkeys was nowhere to be seen.

Perhaps for them, the only food source left here was bark and leaves, and now they found a better place, so they quietly migrated there for the winter?

Mu Qing was actually a little disappointed, and could only comfort herself with this explanation.
