Ancient Eden - Chapter 130
Chapter 130
Another night came.
Mu Qing was no longer able to sleep. She was just wrapped in the animal skin, with opened eyes. Any tiny sound outside could make her jump up and dart out. But, she returned disappointed each time, again and again.
In the middle of the night, she suddenly felt a slight shaking coming from underneath her.
She was stunned, as countless pieces of sandy soil and small rocks kept swooping down from the cavern above her head.
An earthquake.
She got up with a start and without even having time to put on her shoes, she ran towards the open space outside. When she ran, she felt the ground under her feet swaying so much that she couldn’t even stand on her feet, like she was drunk. Many large and small stones kept rolling down from the wall of the cliff on the side.
She ran almost madly to the open space, her feet did not stand steadily, and she fell to the ground all of a sudden.
The tremors were over very quickly. The earth returned to calm. However, Mu Qing heard a burst of loud noises coming from the jungle in the distance, most likely those unusual movements were from animals that were usually resting at night and which had being startled by the sudden onslaught of the earthquake. Those sounds continued for a long time before slowly calming down.
After a long time, the terrified Mu Qing felt that she finally had the strength to stand up. She went back to the cave with a limp, found her flashlight in the dark, switched it on and used it to illuminate the cave wall, before letting out a light sigh of relief.
The earthquake just before wasn’t bad enough to destroy her house, there were just a lot of debris and mud from the roof that had fallen to the ground. She went to the food storage cave beside to take a look and saw that the situation was similar.
She was afraid that there would be aftershocks, so she covered her body with an animal skin and went outside to sit in the open space to wait for dawn and for Li Mang to return.
The concern she had for Li Mang increased by another layer. But very soon she comforted herself, this earthquake was not serious, since she was fine, this was not a danger for him. And after such an incident, she was sure he would come back immediately, whether he had hunted his prey or not.
If he dared to leave her alone next time, she would surely use this excuse to keep him in place, and would never let him go out again.

Last night’s earthquake made the camouflage above the traps collapse down, like a wide open bare mouth, isolating her from the outside.
Wrapped in her animal skin, Mu Qing sat on top of a boulder that had rolled down from the top of the cliff to wait for Li Mang.
The sun gradually rose in the sky above the bottom of the valley, casting a brief warmth, but then very quickly flickered away.
Mu Qing waited until the sky was dark. When the chills of early winter came attacking in gusts, burrowing into her body from her neck and arms, she felt very cold and then realized that another day had already passed.
Li Mang was most definitely on his way back. Just after the earthquake, he must have already been rushing back to here. It was just that it was too far away, so after half a night and a day, he still hadn’t returned.
That was all.
She puffed a few breaths towards her frozen hands and struggled to make her way down the rock, barely able to stand on her feet.
Her feet were frozen too, a few of her toes were so numb she could barely feel them.
She sat on the ground, took her feet out of her shoes, slowly rubbed her toes, and only when she felt the blood flow through her skin again and that she had regained some sensation did she stand up again.
Li Mang would surely return. She hadn’t eaten all day. She needed to get something to eat. With the calories coming from the food, she would have the strength to continue waiting for him.
