Daybreak Summoner - Chapter 23
Spear of God
“Sister Rei, are you leaving already? I miss you so much…”
“Yes, if I’m ever in the neighborhood, I’ll stop by again.”
The long, long night at the Nadis Ranch was over.
No more nightly screams of doom will be heard at the ranch.
Having completed their role, Rei and Rinna would naturally return to King’s Landing and report back to the guild.
“Take care of yourself, Rinna-chan. Thank you so much this time.”
“No, I just accepted the request and fulfilled it.”
“At least let me give you something in return. What would you like? I’ll be back in a minute. I’ll see you in a minute.”
After a moment’s thought, Rhea runs into the residence hall.
“Rin-chan, it looks like you’re going to give me something…what are you going to do? The guild’s reward money is paid by the client, right? Is it okay if I take it moreover?”
Well, sometimes it’s rude not to accept it, so I’ll take it gratefully.”
“Yes, if Rin-chan says so.”
Before long, the door to the living quarters opened with a bang, and Rhea came running out.
“Hello again! Here’s a token of my appreciation. Take it.”
“What? What is this? Is this really necessary?”
Rhea held out a yellow jewel.
It is registered to a B-class Summoned Beast.
If you were to buy it at a store, it would be expensive.
The price is probably about the same as this bounty.
“It’s a Summoned Beast raised on our farm. It’s a shipping item, but I’d rather Rinna-chan use it than someone else who doesn’t know it.”
“Rhea…thank you, I will use it.”
Upon receiving the yellow shining jewel, he concentrates his consciousness and reads information about the Summoned Beast.
Shield Fly, a B-class Summoned Beast specializing in defense.
An auxiliary Summoned Beast that combines robust defense with high mobility.
Rinna nods and tucks it into the inner pocket of her black cloak.
“…Well then, we’d better get going.”
“See you soon, Rhea-chan.”
“Yes! The next time we see each other, the three of us will go out together!”
“No, we can’t.”
??
It has been about 30 minutes since we left the ranch.
We are about halfway to the capital.
The sky is cloudy and the wind blowing through the meadow is somewhat damp.
“She’s kind of an amazing girl…Rin-chan.”
Rei’s tone is somber.
To her, Rhea was a much stronger enemy than Crescent Bear.
“He’s always been like that… Well, I’m glad to see he hasn’t changed.”
Rei looked at Rinna with a sly grin and felt a little bewildered again.
Rinna had a past that she had lived in this world, and of course she was not there.
It was obvious, but it was somewhat frustrating.
“But then again, girls can’t get married to each other, and I can’t believe you took what Rin-chan said seriously.”
What are you talking about? You can get married.”
“…Eh?”
Rinna’s expression is dubious, as if to say, “What the hell are you talking about all of a sudden?
Her reaction tells me that she is not joking.
“Can we…? “
“Why did I think you couldn’t?”
This is a surprise to me.
There are many countries on earth that allow same-sex marriage, but what is common knowledge in Rei’s mind is common knowledge in Japan.
I never dreamed that Valfrant would be one of them.
“I see… You can do it…Ehehe.”
Unexpectedly, my cheeks relaxed as I thought of Rinna and my own wedding.
However, before he had time to contradict himself to such a sweet fantasy…
“…!”
Rei’s whole body was filled with tremendous pressure and a deadly atmosphere.
“…Rin-chan, STOP.”
“What’s wrong, Rei?”
Rei stopped and stared ahead, about 20 meters ahead.
A woman wearing a black robe and a hooded headdress is standing there.
The murderous intent gushing from her entire body was clearly directed at us.
Even Rinna could see it.
The person in front of her is a person of overwhelming power.
Perhaps comparable to or even surpassing Hilde.
“You don’t look like you’re here to say hello…. Who are you! “
I thirst.
Swallowing raw spit, Rei calls out in her best voice.
“…Summoning.”
The black-robed figure pulls out a green treasure ball and mutters.
A torrent of light eventually formed a spear.
The beautiful white and silver hilt shone in the light, and the finely decorated tip of the spear was magnificent.
Rei could tell immediately that the spear was no ordinary summoning weapon.
“It is an Arms Summoner. I’ve never seen a weapon like that. Be careful, Rei.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m off, Rin-chan.”
He pulls out the sword at his waist and grips it with both hands.
He puts the thought of whether he can win with this sword to the back of his mind.
If I don’t do it, I’m sure I’ll be beaten.
“You sound like you’re ready to do it. Answer me! Why are you aiming at us?
The woman’s shoulders twitch.
A few strands of platinum blonde hair peeked out from the Hood.
“Us? No.”
Just as the woman’s figure blurred, she was already swinging her spear in front of Rei.
Survival instincts kick in, and he quickly moves his body to catch the sharp blow with his sword.
There was a high-pitched sound of metal clashing against metal.
“My target is you, Summoned Beast, and you will disappear here.”
“My target is me…? What in the world…?”
Rei asked the assailant as they continued to engage in a fierce battle.
Is the person in front of him not the summoner who is after Rinna’s life?
The deep blue eyes glaring at him with murderous intent from behind his deeply veiled Hood.
Naturally, Rei has no idea why he would be so hostile.
“Do you think there’s any point in explaining this to you, who’s going to die here?”
“That’s… you’re right, Rin-chan!”
Behind Rei, Rinna already had her staff ready and her mind focused.
The power she had built up in her body was now fully directed toward Rei.
“Oh, I’m ready! Muscle strengthening power boost!!!”
A red light enveloped Rei’s body.
Power overflows, and the antagonism of the Tsubagakure is broken.
“Daryaaah!”
The spear is pushed back and the enemy’s stance is broken.
Seizing this opportunity, he decides at once!
“…Ho, partial reinforcement. You’ve grown up.”
A blow that swung out with maximum force at the shortest distance.
However, she, who should have been out of her stance, has already broken away far backward, and the slash cuts through the air.
“Damn, she’s fast…!”
“What’s the matter, aren’t you going to use that power? You’re going to die if you don’t use it.”
About ten meters away, she swings her spear once carelessly.
Rei is wary, sword at the ready, wondering what the significance of that action is.
The next moment, it was already right in front of Rei’s eyes.
A vacuum slash flying at high speed.
Rei leans forward with all his might to somehow evade this attack, which is difficult to even see.
“AUGH!”
However, he could not dodge it.
The slash grazes his side shallowly, and fresh blood spurts out.
“Rei!!!”
“I’m fine…it’s just a scratch, I can still fight…”
Rei endures the pain and stares at the enemy ahead.
But the enemy does nothing.
Even though Rei is damaged and has a chance to attack.
Rinna, feeling uneasy, looks behind Rei.
“That was…!!!”
A flying slash that should have been avoided.
It arcs wide and is about to cut Rei in two from behind.
“Oh no! Defensive Shield Boost!!!!”
The boost is released in a flash, enveloping Rei’s body in a blue light.
Immediately afterward, Rinna’s body was struck by a tremendous sense of fatigue.
It was a reaction to the use of no reserve and no force.
“Rin-chan! Ah!”
A shock running down her back.
The slash that landed behind Rei and disappeared ends up cutting only a thin layer of skin due to the effect of the defense-strengthening Shield Boost.
“Hah…hah…, Rei, that slash doesn’t just fly, it tracks you until it hits you…”
“Rin-chan, thank you! But please don’t overdo it!”
Rinna’s entire body is drained of strength, and she looks as if she’s about to collapse.
She falls to her knees and breathes on her shoulders.
But she can’t lose consciousness here.
She grits her teeth and endures.
“Rinna, don’t do this. You don’t have to put your body on the line.”
“Shut up! Don’t you dare call in a familiar way!”
Rinna shouted angrily.
The woman snickered and replied.
“Don’t call you in a familiar way, huh? I’m not well-liked these days, am I?”
“What are you talking…”
“Have you forgotten the sound of my voice? And the color of my hair.”
Rinna’s movements stopped suddenly at those words.
In her extreme state, she had not noticed it before, but her voice, the color of her hair.
When she calmed down and recalled it, everything was nostalgic, something she had been searching for all her life.
“…No, no way, you’re lying… right?”
“Rin-chan? What is going on with you and her?”
The black-robed woman suddenly took off her Hood.
Her long platinum blonde hair fluttered in the wind, and her deep blue eyes were shining.
Rinna’s eyes were stained with astonishment.
She tried to say something, but the words wouldn’t come out of her throat.
“Summoned Beast, I will give you the special privilege of giving you my name.”
She reveals her name to Rei, who holds her side and glares at her.
“I am Dinna Gelsneir, chosen by one of the Seven Arms, the Divine Spear, Gungnir.”
