Fun Territory Defense of the Easy-Going Lord - Chapter 152
What is Infrastructure?
Water, electricity, gas, internet, telephone, and roads. This was the basic infrastructure structure that was the lifeline of each city.
For example, suppose that the water supply stops functioning and water was unavailable for a year. People would be able to get drinking water by filtering or boiling water from rivers and ponds.
However, there would undoubtedly be a significant impact on their lives and work.
The same would be true when it comes to roads. Even if we have automobiles, which make high-speed logistics possible, they would be useless if the roads were not operational. If the transportation of goods and the movement of people were restricted or hindered, the economy would come to a standstill. In some cases, human resources would also be lost.
The same would be true in a world without automobiles.
I could go on and on with plausible reasons, but the only thing that matters is that my butt hurts. That’s right, my butt hurts, that reason is more than enough.
“I’ll continue making more!”
“Yes!”
Like flowing noodles, I turn the trees into wood blocks one after another. This time, however, they did not end up as bricks, but flat boards.
The blocks are laid out like concrete, in accordance with the shape of the ground. It may be more accurate to say that the ground is filled in with liquid wood blocks.
Since the wood blocks were laid in unison with the rocks and tree roots, they will not shift unless they break.
Furthermore, as I am now able to build wood blocks in my sleep, I can build a road at the rate of about a meter per second as long as I have the materials.
“Oooooh!”
“Don’t let Van-sama win!”
“Cut, cut, cut!”
Trees were falling over and over in front of my eyes, and the surrounding knights were cheering for me. In contrast, I quickly process the cut down trees into a wood block road.
It was becoming more and more like some kind of competition. I was not going to let them beat me. With this in mind, the speed at which I laid the road increased even more.
Perhaps it was because I was doing it like that, but I found myself working on the mountain road for three hours.
“Now then, break time until dinner!”
I gave up, and the knights who had been chopping down trees ahead of me sat down on the spot. Everyone was completely exhausted.
At that moment, the earth rumbled, and a large tree was cut down.
“Hmm? Is it that time already? The sun still seems to be high in the sky.”
Everyone is exhausted, no doubt, but not Dee, who is checking the sun’s position with a puzzled look on his face.
I wonder how much energy he has.
“Van-sama! Look over there!”
As I sat on the back of the wagon looking at Dee with dismay, Till came closer and shouted loudly. I looked over to see a row of container house-style bases set up with Van-kun’s markings on them.
“Oh! Just the right place to rest!”
“Yes!”
Till and I high-five and rejoice. I ran toward the finished container as if all the fatigue I had accumulated had gone away.
“Oh! It’s very well done!”
I said and tapped on the walls and doors. It’s probably due to my short stature, but it’s a big and splendid base for a temporary one. It’s sturdily built, and there’s no problem even if His Majesty takes a rest in this one.
“It’s very splendid.”
Till smiled as she said so, and Camsin, who came later, chuckled and interjected.
“Perhaps the march has stopped because of the battle for this stronghold.”
“I see. Then I guess I can’t be too angry.”
We had such an appropriate conversation and laughed at each other. Then Arte appears with Arv and Roe.
“Would you like to camp here?”
“Yes, we will. We can build two more bases so that everyone can rest. If we take turns resting, we can all get some sleep, right?”
Arv and Roe responded to Arte’s question by putting their hands on their chests.
“Ha! Then we’ll start building the base immediately!”
They replied in cheerful voices, and for some reason they seemed to be enjoying themselves as they had a secret conversation together before turning to the other knights.
“Arv first squad! We can’t lose to Roe Squadron 2! Make a stronghold quickly!”
“Roe squadron 2! Let’s show them the results of our daily training! Let’s go for it!”
When the two men issued their orders, their respective subordinates responded and rushed out. Apparently, they have had this kind of confrontation before. The match had begun without anyone questioning it.
Perhaps it was the sheer number of people, but perhaps it was the format of the match. The bases are completed in the blink of an eye.
“Please, Van-sama! Please use the Arv base!”
“No, no, it’s more comfortable here, okay?”
The two of them stood in front of the newly completed base and started competing with each other again. Chuckling at this, I pointed to the containers on top of the wagon.
“We’ll decide that later, let’s build a few more bases. We need more people who can rest, and there’s a limit to how much we can take turns resting.”
After I told them this, the two of them started another base-building game.
