- Chapter 6 - I Think You're Particularly Good-Looking
It was clear that Shi Yu was not the key factor in turning the tide of the battle. She just had a higher hit rate than those around Xie Yuyan, but under the pressure of so many spiders, this slight advantage was almost negligible.
The energy in the energy gun had dropped by half. Shi Yu had, at some point, moved close to Xie Yuyan. Without looking back, she said, “Aren’t we leaving? Staying here will only result in being gnawed to bones.”
The reason she didn’t run away on her own was entirely because the chances of surviving were slightly higher when staying with these people.
Shi Yu still had some self-awareness.
She was lazy and without a means of transport, unsure how long it would take to reach the shelter. If she missed the evacuation arranged by the government of Sea Blue Star, it would be a huge loss.
Right after she finished speaking, the floor suddenly shook violently.
At the same time, the window that had been letting in moonlight turned pitch black. Shi Yu instinctively looked up, and when she saw the furry and damp black spider legs high in the air, she cursed in her heart.
The spider she had encountered before was nothing compared to this one.
The previous spider was about five or six meters in diameter, but this one had legs that were even longer.
The middle-aged man who had been following Xie Yuyan closely finally changed his expression and whispered, “Young master, we must leave here immediately. The situation is developing beyond our ability to handle.”
Xie Yuyan didn’t respond. When Shi Yu stopped shooting to rub her shoulders and turned to look at him, she saw him lightly touch the red earring under his hair, and a virtual screen suddenly appeared in front of his right eye.
She heard Xie Yuyan’s cold voice, “Lester and the others will hold off the small spiders here. You and Kyle will attack the big spider outside, its weakest spot is its abdomen. Ain is responsible for sniping.”
“Young master!” The middle-aged man couldn’t help but shout out, clearly disagreeing with him, and glanced at Shi Yu in what he thought was a discreet manner.
Xie Yuyan’s deep, indifferent, and icy voice said, “This is an order.”
While eavesdropping and shooting, Shi Yu noticed the beautiful boy had sent everyone around him away, leaving his safety not absolutely guaranteed, which the old hen by his side would obviously not agree to.
But disagreement was not an option.
Shi Yu fired another volley at a spider, and then turned to see three metal beings breaking through the window, with three Mechas suddenly appearing in the air.
Almost at the same moment, the wet, black spider legs smashed down towards the mall where they were.
From a distance, the furry spider legs were covered in fluff, but as the leg came down, cutting through steel reinforcement like tofu, Shi Yu saw clearly that they were actually sharp bristles.
Debris fell clattering down, and Shi Yu grabbed Xie Yuyan’s hand and hurriedly retreated several steps, narrowly avoiding being smashed into a pulp.
“With such powerful bodyguards, why is your reaction so slow? Don’t just stand there dumbfounded. Avoid danger when you see it.”
Shi Yu fired two more shots, the energy in the energy gun was now only a third remaining.
Xie Yuyan did not speak, but glanced at Shi Yu, listening to her muttering “it’s over, it’s over, it’s over,” yet her actions were crisp and efficient.
After a moment, he looked down at his wrist that Shi Yu was pulling on, pursed his lips, and before he could speak, Shi Yu was dragging him outside.
“We can’t stay here. Let’s go to an open area outside.”
The three who had activated their Mechas were already fighting the large spider outside. The floor was shaking, and the mall could collapse at any moment.
Shi Yu glanced back at Lester and the others who were firmly holding the front, and while running, she seriously said, “I just saved your life, shouldn’t you take out your Mecha and escape with me?”
She doubted the absence of hover cars.
But to say that this handsome young man didn’t have a Mecha, Shi Yu absolutely didn’t believe it.
As she dragged Xie Yuyan to run outside, he wasn’t panicked at all, even asking back, “Don’t you have a Mecha too?”
He had noticed the silver ring on her right index finger.
Yesterday, she didn’t have that ring on her finger.
In the star era, people liked to fashion the spatial hubs for Mechas into the form of rings.
Shi Yu’s face fell instantly, “If I could use it, I would’ve taken it out to escape already. The problem is, my physical fitness level doesn’t meet the standards for piloting a Mecha, I can’t use it at all!”
She turned her head and said earnestly, “I’m a noob.”
She was not at all afraid of revealing her own information. After speaking, she urged, “Hurry up, while your bodyguard is buying time, I’ll take you to escape first. Once we get to the shelter, we’ll be temporarily safe. Your bodyguard is so capable, catching up will definitely not be a problem.”
Shi Yu’s face was full of hope, but then she heard the handsome young man say with his excessively pleasant voice, “I don’t meet the driving standards either.”
Shi Yu staggered, nearly falling to the ground, but fortunately, the handsome young man behind her caught her, thus preventing her from landing face-first and disfiguring herself on the spot.
She stood up straight, and the young man timely reminded, “There’s a spider above you on the right.”
The next second, Shi Yu didn’t even lift her eyelid before she shot down the little black spider with an energy gun.
Xie Yuyan’s eyes flashed with surprise, then he heard Shi Yu say in a hurry, “Don’t mess with me! Is this the time to be spouting nonsense?”
The handsome young man remained calm: “If I could pilot a Mecha, would I still be lingering here?”
“That’s hard to say,” Shi Yu replied casually, then shot another spider, and the two of them had already run out of the mall.
Xie Yuyan watched her back but did not speak.
However, Shi Yu, taking advantage of the fact that the little black spiders had not yet surrounded them, poked her head in front of him and blinked, asking, “Are you guys planning to fish in troubled waters? Like taking the opportunity to grab something?”
With six impressive bodyguards by her side, yet staying in such a dangerous place a day after the alarm was sounded, Shi Yu did not believe they had no other motives.
In the cool gaze of the young man, she leaned close to his ear and whispered, “How about counting me in? I don’t want anything else, just take me to the shelter after you get what you need.”
The handsome young man did not react, his obsidian-like eyes quietly watching Shi Yu.
Shi Yu chuckled twice, “Don’t look at me like that, it seems only Lester listens to you among your bodyguards. Look at me, my shooting is more accurate than Lester’s, my brains are smarter than Lester’s, and most importantly, I think you’re really good-looking.”
The handsome young man still looked at her, using his pleasant voice to retort, “But you’re a noob.”
Shi Yu: “…”
“That’s not the point!”
The handsome young man continued to watch her, this time not retorting, seemingly waiting for her to elaborate on the point.
Shi Yu smiled sheepishly, trying to put her arm around his shoulder, but due to the height difference, she could only awkwardly retract her hand. She coughed lightly and said, “The point is we’re not familiar with each other, whatever you take has nothing to do with me.”
“Doesn’t that make me seem especially reliable?” She tried to look cute as she blinked, though her gaze continued to circle the handsome young man’s face.
Under the dark night sky, the young man’s silver hair was lifted by the wind, revealing a ruby earring on his earlobe. His eyelashes, as fine and dense as crow feathers, fluttered slightly, covering his pupils and also the glance he cast over Shi Yu’s right index finger.
“I’m going to the headquarters of Sea Blue Express.”
