Chapter 51 ? And So, the Unbeatable Battle Begins

After returning safely to the mansion in the capital with Julius, I thanked my brother and parted ways before heading back to my room.

Then, I received the letters that had arrived from Rosa and fell onto the bed, hugging them. It was the first time for me to receive letters like this from a friend, so I couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.

“Let’s see, there’s one from Therese, one from Yoshida, and… ah, Reinhardt sent me three letters.”

First, I opened Reinhardt’s letters in the order they arrived. It was full of stories about how he practiced and studied magic every day, how he dreamed about me almost every day, and how he was looking forward to spending time with me.

The text and the volume of the letter conveyed a tremendous amount of love. While I’m happy because it’s from Reinhardt, honestly speaking, if I received this without the sender’s name, I would have been frightened to the point of crying.

The next letter I opened, which was from Therese, was written in beautiful handwriting, updating me about her recent activities during the summer vacation and expressing her excitement about our upcoming trip together, which also made me eager to see her soon.

Touched by the warmth of my friends’ handwritten letters, I finally pick up the letter from Yoshida.

“…. Eh.”

In the letter, Yoshida wrote that he would be going on a trip in the middle of summer vacation, so if I really wanted to come visit, it should be during the first half of the vacation. There are only a few days left in the first half.

Eager to visit Yoshida’s house, I quickly wrote a reply letter and hastily asked one of the servants to send it.

???

Two days later, having made thorough preparations, I arrived at Count Steiner’s residence. Without any understanding of the connection between Count Steiner’s son and Yoshida, I get off the carriage.

“So, this is Yoshida’s residence….”

The mansion, gifted by His Majesty the King along with the noble title of the Knight Commander, was as impressive as, if not more so than, our own.

It seemed that my arrival was well anticipated, as I was guided inside with care by the servants and immediately welcomed by Yoshida. I resisted the urge to hug him and smiled.

“Thank you for having me over today. I missed you!”

“Hmph, it’s only been about a week.”

Despite saying that, Yoshida led the way with a small smile on his face, and we soon reached his private room.

The neatly organized, simple yet stylish room is very typical of him. When I mentioned that it smelled really nice, for some reason, he scolded me, saying, “You embarrassing fool!”

“… Meeting you like this, it feels kind of strange.”

“I guess so. Oh, next time, I’d love for you to come over to my place.”

Sitting across the table and engaging in our usual conversation, I noticed the maids, who were preparing tea, wearing surprised expressions. I’m even refraining myself from calling him Yoshida, I wonder why they react like that.

“You know, it’s my first time visiting a friend’s house. So, I’m really happy. Thank you so much, Yoshida.”

“…. It’s not a big deal, you can come over whenever.”

As we chatted casually over a cup of delicious tea, a knock suddenly sounded, and before Yoshida could answer, the door opened. The person who entered the room was an incredibly attractive woman.

“Hey, Max, I heard we have a visitor. Is it a friend from the academy? Introduce me—”

Strangely, the moment the attractive woman laid eyes on me, she seemed to lose her words. Perhaps ‘Max’ is some kind of affectionate nickname Yoshida uses.

I was puzzled by the mysterious tension of our gaze as I stared at the frozen beauty, so I subtly leaned in and whispered to Yoshida.

“Hey, Max, who’s that over there…?”

“Don’t call me Max so casually. And that’s my sister.”

“Ehhh?”

Her hair color is indeed the same color, and there’s a calmness in her eyes that resembles Yoshida. Now that I think about it, I vaguely remember hearing that Yoshida has two older sisters.

“Alexia, I’ve told you countless times not to enter my room without permission. Now get out.”

“M-Max… brought a girl into his room… and he’s having fun with her…!”

“Stop saying things that only leads to misunderstandings.”

Completely ignoring Yoshida’s words, Yoshida’s sister covered her mouth with her hand and staggered backward, muttering, “No way!”

Apparently, this was the first time Yoshida had invited a female friend to his house, and she seemed quite taken aback. Maybe that’s why the maids were acting weird earlier.

“You, what’s your name…?”

“I’m sorry for intruding. I’m Yoshi—Maximilian’s classmate, and my name is Rene Wainwright.”

“You’re really a girl… I knew this day would come one day, but I never thought it would be so soon…”

“What day?”

Yoshida gives a cold stare to his sister, who has tears in her eyes, and still persists, “Get out.”

Eventually, Yoshida’s sister turned to me and spoke.

“Max is my precious little brother. I can’t let him get involved with some unknown woman.”

“What are you even saying?”

“If you’re serious, beat me first.”

“Please, just leave.”

The temperature difference between the siblings is intense, enough to give someone a cold. It looks like Yoshida’s sister has a brother complex rivaling my own brother’s.

However, I can understand why she feels uneasy since her cute and precious younger brother is bringing an unfamiliar girl into his room. Yoshida is very kind, so she must be even more worried.

Besides, even Yoshida is accepted by my brother. I also want to be acknowledged by Yoshida’s sister and continue our relationship as officially recognized close friends.

“Hey, you too, ignore her.”

“I understand. I’ll do my best to earn your approval for my relationship with Maximilian!”

“What a good attitude. Shall we go outside?”

“Are there only idiots here?”

And so, the battle between me and Yoshida’s sister began.
