5-44. The Third Person

Fuuril swung his scythe, sending invisible slashes toward Ouren, who knocked them all down. Lize, unable to see them, hid behind Ouren in surprise.

“That scared me!”

“Watch out. Those slashes are coming your way.”

“Ugh, this is such a hassle.”

From behind cover, Lize pointed at Fuuril, and with a crackling sound, lightning gathered at her fingertips.

“Thunder Pistol!”

A small yellow bolt shot from her finger. It was visible due to its glow but moved so fast it almost reached Fuuril instantly. He dodged it just in time.

“Ugh…”

As he avoided the Thunder Pistol, he sensed a strong killing intent in the direction he dodged. Looking, he saw Amariaz, who had been still until now, aiming a bunch of “Air Pressure Swords” at him. It seemed he had been preparing for this for a while.

Fuuril tried to counter with Wind Fist, but there were too many. Unable to handle them all, several Air Pressure Swords exploded near him, producing a deafening, dry sound. The sheer force was overwhelming, and although Fuuril softened the impact with his wings, his body ached.

He quickly used “Regenerate” to heal himself, but as expected, a follow-up attack came immediately.

“Heaven Split!”

“Wind Sword!”

Their skills clashed, creating a raging gust of wind. In the midst of the chaos, Fuuril sensed an incoming presence and planted his feet firmly.

“Wind Fist!”

“Ice Claw!”

Lize charged with massive icy claws. She moved so fast she was almost invisible. Fuuril reacted instinctively, creating an invisible barrier that barely blocked her attack. Had he been a bit slower, he would have been shredded.

Lize’s Ice Claw froze his Wind Fist, making it brittle and breaking it within seconds. She aimed for another strike, launching a new skill.

“Ice Bullet!”

As she swiped through the air, six ice bullets appeared. Knowing she could use another troublesome skill, Fuuril spread his wings and created distance, preparing to defend with Wind Sword.

At that moment, the Ice Bullets fired. They were slow but had tracking capabilities, so he had to shoot them down. He knocked four out with Wind Sword, but as Lize adjusted her aim, the bullets blossomed into huge ice chunks.

“Ice Manipulation!”

Though they lost their tracking ability, the rapidly growing ice chunks were still a threat. Fuuril narrowly dodged the two remaining ones enhanced by Ice Manipulation.

He realized Ouren was closing in on him. Having moved around a lot during the fight, Fuuril knew it was about time, and he diverted his gaze.

Ouren and Lize, true to their reputations as Demon Gods, were skilled and overwhelming. But drawing their attention was easy, and now that he was far from Amariaz, taking him out was a simple task.

“Instant Wings!”

Spreading his wings, he accelerated rapidly, outpacing even Lize. In the blink of an eye, he passed by and almost caught Ouren off guard.

“Damn, that guy!”

“What?!”

Fuuril reached Amariaz in an instant. Amariaz, realizing the danger, tried to activate a skill, but it was too late. Fuuril grabbed his throat, ready to escape, but couldn’t.

“What?!”

“Argh!”

His wings stopped moving, and he crashed to the ground, dragging Amariaz with him. However, thanks to “Substitution,” Amariaz took no damage.

Unable to withstand the momentum, Fuuril let go, suffering the pain alone. After bouncing off the ground several times, he finally regained his balance, landing and skidding to a halt. His wings were almost completely gone.

Looking back, he saw a metal spear deeply embedded in the ground, near what appeared to be his wing.

“Didn’t expect a third person…”

Looking up, he saw a man with flaming red wings. The man wielded a red spear and glared down at him.

“Struggling with just one angel?”

“Hey! It’s Houen! Yo, Houen!”

“I can hear you! Stop fooling around and finish him off!”

Though slightly annoyed, Houen smiled a bit.
