I Was a Small Fish When I Reincarnated, but It Seems That I Can Become a Dragon, so I Will Do My Best - Extra Chapter 204
7-24. Side -Ouren- Commencing Search
Having infiltrated the facility, Ouren and Abyss remained vigilant, scanning their surroundings. The ‘Assassin’ skill Ouren used also concealed Abyss’s presence, evidenced by their unnoticed passage past a human earlier.
“Humans are here too…”
Ouren had assumed only angels conducted experiments here, but he had just passed a human researcher. Though he knew from ‘Manipulating Mist’ where everyone was, he had thought they were hiding using some skill. His assumption was wrong, they were ordinary humans, confirmed by Abyss’s nod.
He pondered the implications but concluded they were enemies, recognized by the angels and brought to this research facility. Resolving himself, Ouren walked down the hallway, noting several doors that seemed to lead to conference rooms, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
“A company, huh…”
The facility’s design resembled an Earth company or research institute, with reinforced concrete walls, tiled floors, and metal doors. Even though they used magical tools for electricity, the facility was too advanced for this world’s inhabitants to have built it without external knowledge.
Ouren wondered where the angels had acquired this knowledge. Realizing he had many unanswered questions, he approached a door, knowing it was unoccupied. Opening it, he slipped inside, closing it behind him. The room was pitch dark, but only Abyss couldn’t see, Ouren’s ‘visual impairment’ resistance activated, allowing him to see clearly.
It was a document room. Investigating everything would take too long, so he decided to stuff all the documents into his magical tool bag. As he did so, he laughed inwardly, thinking of how he was doing exactly what Houen had done long ago. Thanks to the ‘Mud Golem’ he created, he quickly stored all the documents.
Dismissing the ‘Mud Golem’ after its task, Ouren swiftly exited the room, heading to the next target. However, angels occupied this area.
“I broke the lock on the previous room, so it can’t be opened easily… Let’s eavesdrop for now.”
His voice wouldn’t be heard thanks to ‘Assassin.’ Cracking the door open, he listened in.
Inside were three angels and a human, all researchers in white lab coats, discussing some research data. The human spoke first.
“It’s taking too long to adapt. We need to speed up the process…”
“It can be done, but it increases the burden. It will destroy the tissue.”
“The longer we allow the magical circuit to adapt, the better the pseudo-skill.”
“We know that from experiments. Forcing Tekelis to use skills is the issue. If it could do it willingly, the adaptation would be faster.”
“That’s difficult. It’s been resisting for eight hundred years.”
Abyss settled on Ouren’s shoulder, tired of standing, as Ouren continued listening.
He pondered who Tekelis was, resisting for eight hundred years, implying a lifespan as long as Atrak’s. Atrak was 1092 years old when Ouren and his group were active, which, adding the 400 years since and the time Ouren slept, made him about 1498 years old. Tekelis might not be the same age, but it was an entity used by angels.
Ouren listened further.
“So, what do we do? Create more pseudo-skills and embed them?”
“The order is to increase the number. We need to produce more within two weeks.”
“With two weeks, we can only make around 2000, depending on the manipulators.”
“What are the manipulators doing now?”
“Resting. One is available.”
“Then use that one. Or grant a pseudo-skill to control Tekelis for efficiency.”
“Understood.”
As the conversation ended, Ouren opened the door and used ‘Multiple Water Spears’ to decapitate the angels and the human researcher. He also eliminated the first human he had passed earlier on the rooftop. He used ‘Infinite Water Manipulation’ to clean up the bodies, compressing them with water pressure into small, paper-like balls, and disposed of them in a trash bin.
“Let’s clean up the rest at this pace.”
Cracking his shoulder, Ouren continued his search, never glancing at Abyss’s face.
