The day after the Ninth Rite, I was resting in the room assigned to me. Since the guests would all return to Foranada before long, I planned to stay in Lorumbele for a while longer.

Minerva, as always, tried to accompany me despite constantly complaining. I appreciated her thoughtfulness, but I also felt sorry for inconveniencing her, so I made it a policy to stay in the room as much as possible. As long as I was indoors, the people of Lorumbele wouldn’t show their faces unless it was necessary for something like a meal. They weren’t so idle as to visit just to harass me, and they shouldn’t be so ignorant of their place.

Thanks to that, Minerva prioritized her own tasks.

“If you need anything, call me. It’s more annoying to have you wandering around alone!”

She left with those words, which I found amusing.

Anyway, I quietly waited for time to pass.

Come to think of it, this is the first time I haven’t seen Caron and the others for so many days. Despite going out and about, I would use the Phase-Link Gates to visit them. Orca and I, who have the experience of our past lives, might be fine, but I wonder about Caron. She’s such a bro-con, and I’m afraid she might start showing withdrawal symptoms or something.

For a moment, I considered contacting them through telepathy, but I quickly dismissed the idea. Opportunities like this will come again in the future. Caron should get used to it.

Besides, she owns a telepathy tool. If it comes to it, I think she’ll send a message from there. I decided that I should patiently wait.

“Were you thinking about Lady Caroline?” Shion, who was sitting at a nearby table, spoke up as I was lost in thought on the bed. There was a hint of exasperation in her voice.

I shrugged my shoulders.

“Well, someone here happened to snatch away the work I had brought along and now I’m bored out of my mind.”

I had brought some work that could be done on the side and taken along precisely because I would be away from Foranada for about a month. Initially, I was working on it, but somehow Shion managed to swoop in and take it away from me. As a result, I’m currently left with nothing to do.

“It’s good to have some free time. Take this opportunity to rest properly,” Shion replied.

On the other hand, the main culprit seemed unconcerned.

“If you’re really bored, then let’s have a chat. Zecks-sama, wouldn’t it be acceptable for you to make more use of the servants?” she suggested, with an air of composure.

I glanced at her with half-closed eyes.

“What’s your true intention?”

“I want someone I like to pay attention to me.”

“Well, at least you’re honest.”

That’s what I thought. I believe her true intention is also to let me rest, but the magical energy emanating from her was incredibly restless. It was too obvious.

I do feel the desire to get on with my work as soon as possible. However, when Shion confessed her feelings, I had already made up my mind to fulfill her requests to the best of my ability. It would be unfair to back out at the last minute.

I smiled wryly and got up from the bed.

“Alright. Let’s have a chat, Shion.”

“Yes!”

Shion had a radiant smile on her face, emitting an aura of happiness that made me feel a bit embarrassed.

Afterward, she tried to run towards me??but,

“Oh!”

“Oops.”

Her usual clumsiness activated. She almost stumbled dramatically despite there being nothing in her way, and I instinctively caught her. Thanks to my enhanced physical abilities, I was able to support her firmly.

However, due to our significant height difference, it ended up looking quite awkward. While I tried to be careful not to cause any injuries, our faces ended up being very close. Oh dear, Shion’s eyelashes are so long!

“Oh, ah, ahahaha!”

Oh my, Shion seems to have malfunctioned.

We locked eyes at an extremely close distance for about three seconds. She started spinning her eyes around like a boiling kettle.

Just by getting this close, her reaction is like this… I can’t help but worry about what will happen next.

With a wry smile, I carefully placed the overwhelmed Shion on the bed. Anticipating her return to normal, I decided to prepare some herbal tea with relaxing effects.

“Shall I brew some herbal tea with a relaxing effect?”

Using the “Phase Concealing Cover Texture,” I took out several types of tea leaves and began blending them according to Shion’s preferences.

It seems that the time when she can experience a sweet moment is still a distant future.

As Shion and I chatted, half a day passed, and it was right after we finished lunch with Minerva. At that moment, I received an urgent message from one of the spies I had left in Foranada using telepathy.

“Lord Zex, I apologize for interrupting you while you’re busy. An urgent situation has occurred that needs to be reported immediately.”

“Hmm?”

“What’s wrong?”

Perhaps due to the somewhat relaxed atmosphere after lunch, I unintentionally let out a sound. Even though we had finished our meal, we were still at the dining table, and Minerva, who was sitting across from me, looked puzzled.

I instructed my subordinate to wait for a moment and calmly responded.

“I just experienced a slight leg cramp probably because I was so relaxed for half a day. I apologize for causing concern.”

“You can be quite a handful. You shouldn’t neglect exercise, especially considering you have no attribute.”

Well, that was a blatant lie, but it seems she believed me. That’s a relief.

After returning to my room and parting ways with her, I established another telepathic connection.

“I’m sorry for the delay. Please proceed with the report.”

“Understood.”

The information he provided was remarkably succinct. It stated that a certain count had made a secret visit to Foranada.

At first glance, this seemed like an inconsequential matter. It was not uncommon for nobles to visit other territories incognito. In fact, similar incidents had occurred in the past.

However, the problem lay elsewhere. The visiting count’s identity was far from favorable.

Count Putepe. He was a member of the family responsible for killing Nina in the original game.
