I Was Reincarnated As The Older Brother Of A Villainess Destined to Die, So I Want To Change The Future By Raising My Younger Sister With My Own Hands. I Am The Strongest In The World, But My Little Sister Must Be The Cutest In The World - Volume 4 Chapter 10.1
Shion: The Witch of the West
The timeline is between “Midterm Exam (4)” and “Beyond Freedom.”
…
At the western edge of the Holy Kingdom, within the sacred royal territory’s forest, I, Shion, was present.
Of course, I was not alone. I was here to execute a mission under the leadership of Lord Zex. Despite maintaining some distance, many of my fellow intelligence agents were on standby in the vicinity.
The dense foliage made it difficult for sunlight to penetrate, casting an overall dim and eerie atmosphere within the forest. Despite the foreboding nature of this dark woodland, I pressed onward.
While there shouldn’t have been anyone here, soon enough, a small cabin came into view. At first glance, it appeared to be a modest home, but thanks to the “Magic Sight” I had been taught by Lord Zex, I understood. This house was brimming with an incredible amount of magical energy, and not just any magic – it was saturated with various curses.
There was no doubt. This cabin was the base of the witch who had allied with Count Cusipos and caused trouble for the royal faction.
I hadn’t doubted Lord Zex’s counter-detection, but witnessing it firsthand like this made my resolve even stronger. I needed to carry out my mission effectively.
“Now then…”
As I approached the cabin, I raised both arms. Then, I surged the magical energy within my body in an instant. I began designing a spell that could blow this entire area away, and I was about to activate it.
However, it never came to fruition. Just before I could unleash the magic, I was engulfed by a massive pillar of flames.
Most likely, it was an advanced fire magic spell, “Blaze Pillar.” Despite its significantly enhanced power, it had been meticulously controlled to limit its range and prevent it from spreading to the surroundings. It showed considerable skill.
Nevertheless, I couldn’t afford even a graze. I had anticipated the attack and preemptively activated the advanced water magic spell “Hydro Body.” While I might not be able to withstand an attack from Lord Zex, the current adversary posed no real threat.
I abandoned the partially constructed magic bluff. I cast “Aqua Blossom,” an intermediate water magic that caused a large water flower to bloom, extinguishing the “Blaze Pillar.” I had adjusted its power to ensure there was no release of steam. There remained only a faint smell of scorching.
After a few seconds of silence, an attack suddenly burst through the cabin’s wall. It wasn’t just an intermediate fire magic like “Flare Lance”… no, it was different, possibly a composite magic involving dark magic.
If I had relied solely on regular water magic for defense, it might have been somewhat breached. It was a close call.
In that case, I should employ composite magic as well.
“Donsui.”
A deep blue water sphere materialized in front of me. Even though it appeared that a ten-centimeter cubic water sphere wouldn’t be sufficient to block a ten-meter-long flame spear—
“Unharmed!?”
A voice echoed from the cabin, confirming that I was indeed unscathed. Just like water being drawn into a drain, “Donsui” had swallowed the flame spear.
This is the effect of the composite magic “Donsui,” which combines water and darkness. At first glance, it may appear as a small water sphere, but it’s a malevolent magic that engulfs any hostile entity that comes into close proximity to me. Well, the drawback is that it can only be manifested within a meter of the caster, making it unsuitable for offensive use, but it’s an excellent defensive measure.
