I Was Reincarnated As The Older Brother Of A Villainess Destined to Die, So I Want To Change The Future By Raising My Younger Sister With My Own Hands. I Am The Strongest In The World, But My Little Sister Must Be The Cutest In The World - Volume 5 Chapter 2.2
The response of the two elves to the appearance of a third party was swift. One stayed behind, while the other turned on their heel and attempted to flee.
Their immediate and coordinated reaction was nothing short of impressive. It appeared they had an agreement: one would engage, while the other continued the mission. They executed it without hesitation, a testament to their well-trained skills.
However, despite the wait and the elaborate preparations, I found it somewhat troublesome that it would take even more time. I decided to deal with both of them at once.
I promptly erected a barrier, rendering escape from the square impossible for the elf who had tried to flee. The elf trying to break the barrier, however, was recklessly attempting the impossible.
“Who are you?” The remaining elf spoke up for the first time since my arrival.
Well, they adapted quickly. Typically, someone without any discernible characteristics like myself activating magic would cause confusion. Yet, they swiftly adopted a combat stance.
It seemed like they were preparing for battle while engaging in conversation. The other elf, who had initially attempted to escape, returned to the scene.
I had no intention of obstructing their actions, as I wanted to thoroughly examine the power of the spirit mages. I was more than willing to play along with their intentions.
“Even if you tell me your name, it won’t change anything.”
“Why?”
“Because someone like you won’t be able to escape from this world.”
“Are you the culprit, after all?”
The elf exaggerated their anger as part of an act to divert attention from the other elf’s preparations.
“What will you do then?”
“Release us from here!”
“I can’t do that.”
While appearing to engage in the conversation, I observed the other elf’s actions.
Were they permeating mana into the ground of the square? Ah, it seemed to be the work of an earth spirit rather than the elves themselves. They were probably attempting to assert control over the ground of the square. I had gained this knowledge through collaborative work with Noma.
They didn’t seem to be doing any more than that. Well, it wasn’t the time to leisurely prepare in front of the enemy. The rest would have to be confirmed during the battle.
“If you insist on not yielding, then I’ll forcefully break through!”
“Hmph. trying to learn our true identity and you will lament your foolishness!”
With these words, the two elves dispelled their disguises. Their appearances underwent a significant transformation, and their pointed elven ears became evident.
Presumably, it was a tactic to unsettle the enemy, but unfortunately for them, it had no effect on me.
However, the reaction from the other side was also subdued. Perhaps they had anticipated that the effect might be minimal, as they immediately cast their magic without hesitation.
“I, the spirit bound by a contract, shall cleave our enemy before us!”
“I, the spirit bound by a contract, shall pierce our enemy before us!”
The elf who had been engaging me in conversation unleashed a spirit magic similar to “Wind Edge,” while the other elf, who had been preparing, cast a spirit magic resembling “Stone Spike.”
Both of their spells were executed with masterful expertise. The wind blade, extending ten meters in length, had a high magical density and would not be easily shaken by a half-hearted counterattack. The stone spikes that emerged from the ground at their feet, while of average size, seemed to possess a hardness exceeding that of steel.
Indeed, they were true spirit mages. Their efficiency in converting mana into magic was astounding. With their levels of magical power, if they had cast their spells normally, they would have achieved only about half the potency.
