- I Will Never Submit to Miss Grim Reaper
- Chapter 15 - In the Rental House, a Bright and Pure Smile Bloomed
I bought more than 80 yuan worth of items in this large supermarket on the commercial street.
Two pieces of underwear, two pairs of panties, and a set of clothing for changing.
I chose basic children’s panties in a light pink color with a cute little bow in the middle, and the fabric was very soft. Although I, as a “man,” resisted this kind of cute clothing in my heart, I had no choice as the cutest panties in the supermarket were also the cheapest. To save money, I had to bear with it.
Next, I bought a T-shirt similar to the one I was wearing, in pure black with a white heart on the chest, very simple. For pants, I chose a very ordinary pair of women’s overalls, also for no other reason, just because they were cheap.
Probably due to being in stock for a long time and not selling, both the T-shirt and the overalls in the supermarket were 40% off. When I saw the price, I didn’t hesitate and put both items in the shopping cart for just over 30 yuan.
The rest of the items included some small accessories and food that I thought might come in handy. Today, the noodles were on sale at the supermarket – 3 packs for 10 yuan. I thought I could use the broth after steaming the fish I bought tonight as a soup base to cook noodles tomorrow. Noodles are a strategic commodity similar to rice, and they can be stored for a long time, so I decided to get them.
In addition to these, I bought a comb suitable for girls, slightly better quality shampoo and shower gel, and slippers that fit my small feet. After checking out with all these miscellaneous items, it added up to more than 80 yuan.
“Thank you for shopping.”
Coming out of the supermarket, I walked along the familiar path back to the end of the commercial street, where the city village was located.
By now, this small village had returned to its usual tranquility. The owners of the local eateries, grocery stores, food and oil shops, and fruit stands were vocally hawking their wares, interspersed with various promotional announcements from high-pitched loudspeakers, such as “Everything for two yuan, just two yuan,” “The owner is going out of business! Clearance sale!” and “Last day, everything must go.”
Ah… I’m a bit tired.
Carrying a massive shopping bag from the supermarket, I walked through this bustling city village, occasionally switching the load from one hand to the other to alleviate the fatigue in my arms.
I’m not used to having a girl’s body.
If I were a man, let alone these items, I could effortlessly carry even three more bags and run a lap without any trouble.
Now, I’m tired from walking, and carrying things is also tiring.
This body is too delicate…
Indeed, it all goes back to that mischievous Grim Reaper.
Her goal is probably to see me, in a body completely unaccustomed to being a girl, and to enjoy a good laugh while watching me complain or appear full of sorrow, all from the shadows.
So, no matter what, I need to pull myself together.
With this mindset, I put on an unconcerned facade, carried a bunch of newly purchased items, and walked from the pedestrian street all the way to the city village. Then, I joined the crowd of people returning home on their electric scooters and bicycles as I exited the alley, waited for a traffic light, and finally returned to the three-story apartment complex across the street.
Getting ready to cook!
I unlocked the front door with the passcode, sorted the items I’d bought, did a quick quality check to ensure everything was fine, and then put on the new girl’s slippers. Afterward, I carried my old oversized slippers and casual shoes to the door, and I boldly left them right at the entrance.
I’ve transformed into a little girl now. While this apartment complex has 24-hour security patrols and plenty of surveillance cameras at the entrance, I’m not willing to gamble on that probability. My current little girl’s body is just too cute, and I find myself wanting to push her over. Not to mention those individuals with less than honorable intentions.
Leaving the oversized shoes at the door is a warning to anyone with ill intentions, letting them know that there’s a “man” inside the apartment.
After all of this, I locked the door and pulled the security chain, then proceeded to the kitchen.
The fish I bought earlier had been bled and marinated with cooking wine and ginger. After a quick preparation, I placed it on a plate, added chopped tomatoes, a bit of salt, soy sauce, and water, then covered it and started cooking.
While the fish was steaming on the induction cooker, I took the opportunity to wash some rice, placed it in the rice cooker, and started it to cook.
I roughly prepared the vegetables and minced some garlic, which would be stir-fried later.
Now, it’s just a matter of waiting for the steamed fish and rice to be ready, followed by a quick stir-fry of the melon shoots, and heating up the leftover cucumber and tomatoes from lunch.
After finishing these tasks, I wiped away the sweat from my forehead, washed my little hands, and then started unwrapping the clothes, pants, underwear, and socks I’d bought from the supermarket, getting them ready to wear.
Using the small heater to dry clothes consumes too much electricity. So, for tomorrow’s offline author’s rights protection event, I’ll wear the current outfit. I’ll wash the new clothes and let them air dry outside. As for the underwear, I’ll use the small heater to dry them like I did at noon.
After spending some time washing all the clothes and hanging them on the rack outside the window, I gazed at the cute girls’ clothes. After some thought, I went to the closet, took a few of Uncle’s shirts and pants, and hung them up as well. This way, anyone looking from the outside would think this rental room is occupied by “an uncle and his little sister.”
With the clothes washed, the steamed fish and rice were ready. I stood on a small stool, put on my dedicated gloves, and moved the plate with the fish to the dining table in the living room. I sprinkled some green onions on it, and then I used a small spatula to start stir-frying the Buddha’s hand melon shoots.
Finally, I plated the veggie stir-fry, put the rice in a bowl, reheated the leftover cucumber and tomatoes from lunch, and placed it on the dining table. I put my phone on the phone stand that had been there for quite a while, started a video streaming site, and randomly searched for a video on how to write “exciting parts” of a novel. I picked up my chopsticks and started eating.
This has been a habit of mine for several years – watching informative videos on my phone while having a meal. Occasionally, I also open some educational videos, like learning to draw, RPG game development, or Photoshop editing. So, I stay productive during meals.
“Before you start writing, you need to get your mindset right. What’s your main goal in writing? Making money, right? So, should you cater to the market? Of course, no shame in it. Look at those niche literature authors, they either starve or change lanes, but in the end, who’s left? These easy-going genre writers.”
“It’s like being a merchant. Don’t they investigate the market before stocking up? Don’t they study what people need? As a merchant, you’ll go into whatever business makes money, right? No merchant wants to miss an opportunity to make money, right?”
“Now, after aligning your mindset, let’s dive straight into the first lesson: setting up the protagonist’s character, arranging the plot conflicts, and crafting what we call ‘exciting moments’ and ‘anticipation.'”
“Lately, I’ve had many authors asking me to evaluate their ‘golden three chapters.’ But really, there’s no such thing as ‘golden three chapters.’ Nowadays, readers expect to see a ‘golden hand’ in the very first chapter, or else they’ll bounce. You need to establish conflicts and make the protagonist deliver an exciting moment in the first chapter. Besides, the book’s title and synopsis are of utmost importance.”
Listening to the video tutorial, I quickly finished my dinner, rubbed my little belly, washed my dishes in the kitchen, and stored the remaining food in the refrigerator.
This time, I couldn’t finish my dinner. I had controlled the amount of Veggie Stir-fry, and there was only a little, barely enough. The cucumber and tomatoes left from lunch were almost gone, but as for the fish, I had only eaten one side.
No worries, I can cook the other side of the fish and its sauce with noodles tomorrow.
Back at my computer, I powered it up and immediately opened the browser. I accessed the author’s dashboard for “Honeydew Light Novels,” and a popup appeared in front of me:
?Dear author, your work has been approved. You can now upload chapters.?
Great, it passed! The moment I saw this approval notification, I opened messaging app, found “Tuzi” the editor’s avatar, and double-clicked.
?Editor, my novel has been approved.?
Although technically it was past the editor’s working hours, this “Tuzi” editor replied quickly:
?Alright, I’ll send you the signing link. You need to go through online registration, verify your phone and bank card, take pictures of both sides of your ID, complete a face recognition process, sign your name, and it’s done quickly.?
What?
Face recognition too?!
When I read the message sent by the editor, I froze in front of the computer. I thought, “Oh no, I’m doomed.”
