I Will Never Submit to Miss Grim Reaper - Chapter 466
Chapter 466: Diwutith’s Little Mascot
“So, um… I, uh… Diwu, Queen of Diwutith, representing the royal family of the Diwutith Empire, hereby announce that from this moment on, Diwutith has entered a brand-new Mechanical Era!”
“The magical device we just demonstrated, called the ‘television,’ will be distributed for free to everyone within the next month. If any households are missed, you can bring your Diwutith citizenship ID to the palace to collect one from Sister Ophelia. Additionally, Diwutith will establish a complete network within the next six era months, and the detailed instructions on how to use the internet will be provided by the Archangel Gabriel from the Holy Heaven…”
“Um… that’s all I have to say. I wish you all happiness. Teresia, may everyone find their true calling!”
“……”
As I stepped down from the royal podium of Diwutith, I felt completely drained.
I’d never before seen such a massive crowd of “spectators.”
It was said that nearly half of the nation’s population had gathered to see me, the “queen hidden for centuries,” give a speech in Diwutith. Along with representatives from all over the world of Grandis who had heard the news, they packed the vast royal city to the brim.
As soon as I stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted in applause—
“Queen Diwu! We love you!”
“Is our Queen Diwu really real?!”
“How dare you! Queen Diwu has always been with us. You are trampling on the dignity of the Diwutith Empire!”
“Well… have you ever seen Her Majesty the Queen before?”
“Uh? No, no, I haven’t…”
As I stepped onto the stage, listening to the noise below, I really felt like I had become the “mascot” of this country, Diwutith.
“Queen Diwu is so small.”
“She looks like she’s part of the Elven race and part Demon. It’s so strange.”
“She’s just like a little sparrow flying outside… though that feels a bit disrespectful to say, considering she’s our queen.”
“But the thing is, isn’t this the first time Queen Diwu has appeared in public? She’s always just been part of our faith, and seeing her in person, my once-waning faith has suddenly been replenished.”
It seemed like people preferred to view me more as a “lucky charm” for the country rather than as a “queen.”
“By the way, what is Queen Diwu going to announce today?”
“I don’t know. I heard the queen was going to appear, so I came. I haven’t had much to do lately anyway.”
“I also came just to see the queen. It’s been hundreds of years, and she’s finally showing herself. She looks so young. I wonder if she’s even a hundred years old.”
“Apparently, Lady Momo persuaded the Angel race and Dragon race to build something for all of Grandis… something called a network, and they brought some new things too, like smartphones and magical video devices?”
This time, my main task in coming on stage was to briefly introduce my existence and explain how to use “smartphones” and “LCD TVs.”
After two months of intense development, Gabriel indeed lived up to expectations by producing basic phones and televisions, even creating a simple phone system that allows for making calls and sending texts. The televisions immediately achieved 8K-level resolution with ultra-high color gamut coverage.
Gabriel mentioned that there’s still a lot of room for optimization with the phones and TVs, but she’s too busy to handle it right now. In the future, maybe some of the idle folks in Diwutith can develop apps and additional functions based on what’s already been made.
Although the mobile communication network can’t yet cover the entire otherworldly land of Grandis, it’s more than enough to cover the small Diwutith Empire. The only mobile feature I needed to introduce was the ability to “make calls within the country.”
As for the TV, there aren’t many “channels” to watch yet, since both news and entertainment in Diwutith are just getting started and require a lot of manpower and resources to develop.
When introducing the TV, all I needed to say was that it’s a “magical device that can play videos and music.” Once the domestic TV stations in Diwutith are established, people will figure out what this device is used for on their own.
After everyone realizes the convenience of television, things like movies, short videos, and ads will likely follow, but that’s all for later. I don’t really understand these things, so I plan to leave them all to Momo, while I just want to make an appearance and explain to the people of Diwutith what’s happening.
However, I underestimated my own charm. As soon as I took the stage, I was showered with praise, and I had to repeatedly explain the uses of the phones and TVs.
“Next, we’ll hand the time over to Lady Momo, who will explain Diwutith’ main development directions and the upcoming electronic products!”
Besides phones and TVs, in my and Xiao Mo’s plan, Diwutith will also produce computers, air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and other household appliances, as well as automated agricultural equipment like seeders and harvesters. We aim to be a “catalyst” for Grandis, bringing Earth’s technology here.
As long as everyone understands the importance of technology and there are people willing to devote themselves to scientific research, the future of Grandis will be completely transformed.
Similarly, on Earth, Xiao Mo has also brought the “Elven Tree” there. As the Elven Tree grows, the future Earth will start to see the emergence of “magic,” “mana,” “elements,” and “battle energy,” just like in the otherworld.
By that time, the technologically advanced Earth will likely gradually adapt to this change and then combine magic with technology, leading to a new wave of technological breakthroughs.
We don’t even have to wait for the future, even now… the fruits Xiao Mo and I brought from Diwutith to Shenzhen City are already driving the local experts crazy.
For a long time, people have categorized and named plants and animals based on certain classifications, which require measuring some of their internal genetic sequences. For example, they would trace where a particular type of corn first appeared, determine if it belongs to the same species as corn from a particular island, and from there, infer where these corns’ ancestors came from, where they first proliferated, where they were later taken, and where they eventually mutated to become the corn we know today.
But the plants Xiao Mo and I brought from the other world don’t follow any of those classifications. They aren’t closely related to any Earth plants, and their genes are so strange that they can’t be traced back to any known lineage.
We introduced several new species all at once, like “Paradise Fruit” and “Cat Jump Dragonfruit,” which don’t even resemble any plants on Earth. As staunch materialists, the experts can’t claim we’re from another world, nor can they publicly declare that these fruits aren’t from Earth. Some of them are almost going crazy trying to figure it out.
However, I’m actually quite relaxed because the end-of-August vacation has arrived.
Since finishing Ouyang Xue’s wedding on August 15th, Xiao Mo and I spent another week carefully managing the café, working with Sikong Yue to complete the little garden outside. Now the café has entered its “complete” mode. Even if I’m not there for long periods, operations should run smoothly.
Xiao Mo and I saved up our August vacation days for the end of the month, and starting from the 23rd, we got an eight-day holiday.
I plan to use these eight days for a solo “otherworld adventure,” while Xiao Mo returns to Diwutith to handle state affairs, aiming to resolve all issues with phones and TVs within these eight days.
“Well then…”
After stepping down from the stage, I headed straight to the royal palace’s back garden.
“It’s time to start picking my initial adventure gear.”
