- I Will Never Submit to Miss Grim Reaper
- Chapter 5 - Soft and Fluffy Murderous Intent From the Little Loli
During the time the rice cooker was cooking the porridge, I placed the washed cucumbers on the cutting board and took the knife from the side.
So heavy…
The body of this little girl is cute, but it’s really inconvenient in so many ways. For instance, the knife that I could easily pick up in the past feels noticeably heavy in my hands now. Just cutting cucumbers and tomatoes for two minutes makes my little hands feel tired.
What kind of morbid sense of humor did that grim reaper have to turn a middle-aged man into a little loli! Besides, you have all these strange and unique abilities, so can’t you give me a bit of strength and agility or something!
Suppressing my grievances, I arranged the cut cucumbers and tomatoes on a plate and took two eggs from the refrigerator to start making lunch.
Tomato and egg stir-fry, tomato and cucumber stir-fry – these two dishes, along with the porridge, were almost done. Though they were quite simple, they provided all the necessary nutrients.
Anyone living on their own in the lower rungs of society knows that eggs are a super cost-effective ingredient: cheap, high in nutritional value, and easy to store. They’re available everywhere, cost just a few cents each, and can be stored for a long time in a cool place. You can boil and eat them directly, or you can make a proper dish with other ingredients like tomatoes and spinach, which is clean and hygienic.
“Phew, finally done.”
Twenty minutes later, I, drenched in sweat, opened the lid of the rice cooker and plated the tomato and egg stir-fry and the tomato and cucumber stir-fry. I carried them to the small dining table in the living room.
Calling it a “dining table” is not entirely accurate because it’s, at best, a foldable small table. It’s primarily a fresh grass-green color, with the pattern of Tohka Yatogami from “Date A Live” printed on it. This was a commemorative prize I received from the “Hachioji Novelist Competition” on that website, and I directly used it as a dining table.
I bought some of those children’s floor cushions from the nearby stationery store while they were on sale, placed them under the small table, and sat on them while eating, saving money on buying chairs.
“Um… about the method of buying clothes and shoes without going out…”
Almost instinctively, I sat down on the cushion in a duck-like posture, looking at the steaming dishes and porridge. I picked up my phone and lit up the screen.
Huh? Why did the fingerprint authentication fail?
Oh right, I’m not that middle-aged man anymore, and these little hands can’t unlock the phone… understandable.
I switched to password mode, entered the password, and while waiting for the porridge in front of me to cool a bit, I tried to open the browser and searched online for “ways to buy clothes without going out.”
?Isn’t this simple? Just order takeout!?
In no time, I found the answer to this question:
?Check clothing stores on food delivery apps, or supermarkets, or simply search for clothes.?
?Can you really buy clothes through food delivery now??
?Bro, how many years have you been indoors? With food delivery, you can not only buy clothes, but if it has a price, even the Han Hong version of an inflatable doll can be delivered to you.?
After reading the online responses, I sighed with relief but also felt a bitter irony in my heart.
Relief because I was fortunate to find a solution, and I wouldn’t have to go out wearing such colorful clothes to buy things. The bitterness came from realizing that solving the clothing problem would probably cost me a lot of money.
I rarely order takeout, mainly because I’m broke.
Shenzen City is a super-sized metropolis, and I’ve lived here for almost thirty years. When food delivery apps were first introduced, I tried downloading them, but I was scared away by all the conditions and rules like “minimum order of 18 yuan” or “minimum order of 20 yuan.”
As people’s living standards gradually improved, if I’m not mistaken, the minimum order price for food delivery in Shenzen City is now above 20 yuan, and the delivery fee is typically 4-5 yuan or 2-3 yuan. That means a single meal costs more than 20 yuan. If you eat takeout for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, it’s a minimum of 1800 yuan per month just for food expenses, which is undoubtedly too extravagant for someone like me, a laborer.
Usually, I buy some eggs, corn, and such to cook at home. For breakfast, I have an egg and a corn cob. For lunch, I make some porridge and a small stir-fry. If I’m craving meat in the evening, I’ll go to the nearby market and buy some meat or ready-to-eat dishes, which isn’t expensive, typically around ten yuan. Adding vegetables and condiments, my daily expenses amount to about 20 yuan at most. Eating takeout costs three times more than this.
Hmm… although it hurts a bit, I really need to buy clothes, and it’s best to do it before 4:00 PM because I have to go out to the market to buy groceries at that time, and it gets crowded later in the evening.
Glancing at the time in the upper right corner of my phone, I opened the app store on my phone and reinstalled the food delivery app that I had deleted a long time ago.
While eating the homemade lunch, I logged into the food delivery app and started browsing for clothes. I excluded branded clothing stores because they were too expensive, and many roadside women’s clothing stores only sold clothes, not shoes or socks. If I ordered from a clothing store, I’d have to make additional trips to shoe and sock specialty stores and underwear shops, which would rack up multiple delivery fees and not be cost-effective.
Considering all this, my only choice was… the supermarket.
Supermarkets have everything: clothes, underwear, shoes, socks, and most of them sell lesser-known, inexpensive brands. After picking out what I needed, I’d only have to pay for one delivery fee.
So, the supermarket it is. I checked to see which nearby supermarket had the lowest delivery fee…
I arranged the stores by delivery fee from high to low and selected the top three supermarkets. I meticulously went through the products inside each store one by one and eventually chose a supermarket that offered women’s and children’s clothing, children’s shoes, socks, and children’s underwear.
I have no choice, my current appearance might not even fit into teenage girls’ clothing.
How come I feel full after just a few bites?
After spending some time picking a supermarket, I was a bit puzzled when I felt the fullness in my stomach. I glanced at the two dishes and the mostly full bowl of porridge in front of me, then lowered my head to gently rub my tummy.
Isn’t this strange? I clearly prepared the meal based on my usual appetite…
Then, once again, I realized the fact that I had become a little girl.
Darn it.
Alright, alright, a little girl has a small tummy and a small appetite. I’ll make less next time.
Reluctantly, I quickly cleaned up the dishes, stored the leftover food in plastic bags, and placed them in the fridge. After washing the dishes and my hands, it was time to buy some clothes.
Before buying clothes, I needed to make sure of my body’s measurements. Unlike physical stores, with online shopping on a food delivery platform, you can’t try on the clothes, and returning them is not as easy, so it’s best to be certain before making a purchase.
My current body… my chest hasn’t developed much. Buying regular children’s underwear should be fine, and as for underwear… aren’t girls’ panties usually one size fits all? As for clothes and pants, I should prioritize affordability. I already look pretty attractive, so dressing more modestly is a better choice.
Confirming my height, waist size, chest measurements, and shoe size, that’s about it.
“Stupid Grim Reaper, did you have to make me like this just because of what I said to you before?”
With a sense of resentment, I rummaged through the drawer of the computer desk and retrieved a flexible ruler I had bought a long time ago at a stationery store but hadn’t used in a while.
Now, it’s time to check my measurements…
