Chapter 500: Circling Mountains, Circling Waters, Circling the Stupa
Grandis, Diwutith Royal Castle.
“At this moment, I, the fallen angel Lucifer, as the officiant, declare Momo Eve and Diwu Eve to be legally married!”
As a beautiful purple light descended, a stunning semi-transparent magic circle appeared in the sky above all the citizens near the Diwutith.
The angel, with enormous demonic wings, faced away from Xiao Mo and me, addressing the audience below and the surrounding cameras, bestowing his blessing upon the empire ahead.
“They will spend their lifetimes protecting and caring for each other, their hearts forever in harmony, their love stronger than gold…”
The “Otherworldly Internet,” which had been introduced less than a month ago, transmitted the voice of this fallen angel to all corners of the world.
On the small platform in front of the Diwutith Royal Castle, I, wearing a wedding dress, and Xiao Mo, dressed in a suit, stood hand in hand, resolutely looking ahead.
This is my kingdom.
The empire that Xiao Mo spent thousands of years building for me…
“Let us offer the most enthusiastic applause to bless this couple, to bless our two kings!”
“Oh—”
“Diwu!”
“Momo!”
“Be happy!”
As the host’s words fell, a pair of enormous ice and fire dragons suddenly breathed out flames and ice crystals into the sky. The beautiful fiery serpents and cold frost met high above, forming a heart-shaped vortex.
Ice and fire, heat and cold, like death and rebirth.
“Bang, bang, bang!”
“Whoosh—”
Nearby, the undead, vampires, and elves, who had been arranged to enhance the atmosphere, all unleashed their most visually stunning magic at this moment.
The atmosphere on site was instantly ignited.
Several dragons, each holding treasure chests filled with Diwutith’s small gold coins, flew in crisscross patterns above the crowd.
A large number of gold coins leaked out from small holes at the bottom of the chests, clattering to the ground.
“Oh my!”
“So many gold coins!”
“Getting hit on the head with them actually hurts a bit.”
“Diwu! Our queen! Waaaah…”
“Momo’s hard work… has finally paid off…”
Since the Diwutith empire is generally laid-back, even though two dragons were flying overhead, pouring gold coins onto the crowd, most bystanders’ attention remained focused on Xiao Mo and me. At most, they would complain about how heavy the coins were if they got hit.
“Clink, clink…”
“Whoosh, whoosh—”
The dragons continuously spewed ice and fire from their mouths, while the fallen angel officiant unleashed his magic, and the atmosphere team energetically cast performative spells. The sky rained down showers of gold coins.
For a time, the enormous square in front of the Diwutith Royal Castle, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people, was lively and magnificent.
However, even with this “coin shower,” the most curious people would only pick up a few coins that fell nearby. No one bent down greedily to grab every coin scattered around—the Diwutith Empire, under Xiao Mo’s “governance,” had reached a strangely harmonious stage, especially compared to “Earth’s nations.”
The people of this country had already achieved absolute prosperity and equality. Even without my arrival, they could live well.
If I, this newly crowned “queen,” were to play any role in the country’s development, it would probably be a kind of spiritual comfort.
Faith like this typically exists in two types of societies: one where there is war, and mere survival is a luxury, leading people to place their spiritual hopes in a deity. The other, like Diwutith, is an absolutely prosperous nation where people have few remaining needs and become particularly interested in figures like the “queen” of their country.
The difference is that the former genuinely hopes the god they worship will descend to the world and change their suffering, while the citizens of Diwutith… I feel their attitude towards me is more like how they would treat a “mascot.”
It’s like how humans keep pets—during times of war, they might keep dogs to go hunting, and in times of peace and prosperity, they keep cats and dogs for emotional comfort.
Everyone has become quite indifferent to wealth and more focused on pursuing their dreams or… supporting a country that allows them to chase those dreams.
“Furthermore, the Diwutith Empire has decided to recognize this year as the first year of the Diwu Era and to declare this day as the National Founding Day!”
Amid the lively atmosphere, the little demon Ophelia flapped her small wings and flew up to the platform, enthusiastically announcing,
“Our Diwutith will maintain its original national policy—no expansion, no pursuit of dominance, no alliances, and we will always remain neutral. However, we will not abandon the use of force. If Diwutith’s territorial sovereignty is violated, we reserve the right to use forbidden spells and call upon ‘heroes’.”
“Now, please offer your most enthusiastic blessings for the birth of our two kings!”
“Oh——”
With a loud roar, the Black Dragon King soared into the sky, breathing flames towards the blue heavens. Various fireworks erupted in front of the massive Diwutith palace.
Wearing the “bridal gown” that was adapted from a wedding dress Xiao Mo brought back from that small town, I turned around amidst the noise of the celebratory cannons, took Xiao Mo’s hand, and kissed her.
“Have you decided how many children you want?”
After the kiss, Xiao Mo playfully leaned in close to my ear, “Even though Nuo’er looks like a thirteen or fourteen-year-old girl to me now, if she wants to… I wouldn’t mind, you know?”
“Go away, who said I’m having kids with you!”
I gave the girl in front of me a light, symbolic push and glanced down at the somewhat “heavy” white wedding dress I was wearing compared to regular girls’ clothes.
“Sister Ouyang and the others should be arriving soon, right?”
The thing I found most uncomfortable about this wedding dress was the pair of high heels adorned with so many gemstones.
The white stockings and tights were fine, but those heeled shoes… I really wasn’t used to them at all.
Although these shoes are indeed very beautiful.
This wedding was something Xiao Mo had planned long ago. Since same-sex marriage isn’t legal in my country on Earth, we decided to hold the wedding in Diwutith instead.
Along the way, we also confessed the truth about the “otherworld” to our old friends.
After all, with the Tree of Life taking root, Earth will eventually experience the emergence of “magic” or similar energies.
When that happens, it wouldn’t be surprising to see headlines like “A group of people discovers they’ve awakened the ability to control fire.”
Xiao Mo and I will become the “Goddess of Death” and the “Goddess of Life” over there.
Whether this is good for Earth or not… I’m not sure, but at least for Xiao Mo and me, it means we can protect the ones we love and those who love us.
Under the warm sunlight, I looked up at the sky of this world, which had a slight purple hue.
Up there, at the boundary between universes, there must be some “gods” watching over everything here, right?
“Let’s go, and meet Ouyang Xue and the others on their first visit to the otherworld.”
In front of the lively palace, Xiao Mo knelt down on one knee before me.
“As you wish, my… wife.”
“……”
