I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship, so I Became a Space Mercenary - Chapter 430.3
I entered the cockpit of the Black Lotus and immediately found Mei. Well, I was able to find her, but it wasn’t like she was hiding. She was always in a fixed position, so there was no way I could have missed her.
“Good morning, My Lord.”
Mei turned around and greeted me with a morning greeting. Ah, yes, a beauty. I designed Mei’s appearance myself, so I felt like I was praising myself, but Mei was really a beautiful woman. Not only was she beautiful, but she was also strong and could do anything. She was truly my ideal of a current day Maid-san.
“Good morning, Mei. Is everything all right?”
“Yes, everything is going well. The scheduled arrival time to the destination is in about fifty-two hours.”
“Good. Sorry for always leaving you in charge.”
“No, Master, I am happy to be of service to you. There is no need for you to apologize like that.”
“You say that, but…”
Mei was not only in full control of the Black Lotus, but she was also my training partner, coordinator and advisor for the women’s team and countless other duties. Frankly, if I were in her shoes, I would not be able to sleep, or think about anything, or do anything.
“I am happy enough that you think of me that way. If you insist…”
“If I insist?”
“If you could just give me a hug…”
“Okay.”
It felt more like a reward for me, but if Mei said so, I wouldn’t reject it. I got around to the front of Mei, who had cables connected to her neck and waist, and hugged her. Oh, why was Mei so soft and warm and smelled so good even though she was a maidroid – a machine? It was very strange.
But, as for her weight, she was so heavy that I couldn’t even lift her up. I didn’t feel a trace of that when I hugged her like this, though.
“Thank you very much. This will keep me operational for a month.”
“Don’t overwork yourself, okay? I’ll give you as many hugs as you want, okay?”
I mean, Mei, you should be in a maintenance pod regularly, right? A month without entering a maintenance pod could cause problems with your body.
In this way, the daily routine was carried out as I headed toward my next destination. Because mercenary work was a business that required a lot of travel time, this kind of daily routine was unexpectedly important.
???
After the pandemic in the Reemay Prime Colony, we were on our way to the Creon Star System as our next destination.
The Creon Star System itself was not an exceptional star system. It did not have a habitable planet, but it had good transportation and was somewhat rich in mineral resources. It was an ordinary star system. The problem was that the Creon system was in the disputed space between the Grakkan Empire and the Belebelem Federation.
The Grakkan Empire was the current effective ruler of the system, but it was originally the territory of the Belebelem Federation (or was it strange to call a star system a territory?). Anyway, yes it was a territory. However, as a result of a war between the two powers in the past, the Grakkan Empire gained control over some of the surrounding star systems, including the Creon Star System.
However, the Belebelem Federation had not yet given up on its quest for a comeback, and had continued to press the Grakkan Empire to gain back control of the Creon Star System and other star systems that it had lost in the past. As a result, this star system had become a disputed area where the two parties constantly skirmished with each other.
