I woke up to find I have a child - Ch 100
Trigger Warning: Suicidal ideations
At the beginning of their relationship, Yin Jiahe and Yu Tingxue agreed on a five-year contract. During these five years, Yin Jiahe would be Yu Tingxue’s lover, providing her with emotional and physical comfort and care. In return, Yu Tingxue would help her overcome financial difficulties and enter the entertainment industry.
On January 16, 2014, they established the contract, but on January 16, 2019, Yin Jiahe didn’t say anything to Yu Tingxue. Nothing about the end of their contract and that it was time to say goodbye.
She did so because mid-January was the busiest time for Yu Tingxue’s company. They were busy preparing reports, summarizing the previous year’s results, and organizing the annual meetings. There were too many things going on, and if she brought it up then, Yu Tingxue probably wouldn’t pay full attention to it.
So, she waited a bit longer.
After the company’s busy period, it was then Lunar New Year and Yu Tingxue was no longer busy. Everyone was on holiday, and even she could have seven days purely to herself. Yet, Yin Jiahe still didn’t speak up because she wanted Yu Tingxue to have a good start to the year, believing that a happy beginning would lead to a smoother year ahead.
After Lunar New Year, as everyone returned to work, it was prime time for her to speak up, but she remained silent again because Valentine’s Day was approaching.
Yu Tingxue’s Valentine’s Day gift for her was a necklace, one of a kind in this world and one with the lovely name, “Lover’s Star.”
That night, lying in her room, Yin Jiahe tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
She didn’t want to continue this relationship with Yu Tingxue, but she couldn’t bring herself to say such things whenever she looked at Yu Tingxue’s innocent and happy face. Unable to sleep, she simply sat up, turned on the bedside lamp, and dangled the necklace from her fingers. The necklace’s gem swayed back and forth, the light reflecting off of it seemed to blind her eyes.
It was just like Yu Tingxue herself. Something that seemed beautiful and suitable for her at first glance, but upon closer look she’d find she couldn’t bear the beauty at all.
Five years were enough to change a person’s character drastically. Five years ago, Yin Jiahe was excessively confident and one could only describe her temperament as domineering. They would say or do anything and everything without embarrassment, but now she was different. Now she has become timid and hesitant.
Some might see this as a positive change, as she had become more tender-hearted, but she didn’t like this change in herself. She preferred her invincible former self.
At Ye Mingxin and Han Fei Xu’s wedding, which she was invited to, Yin Jiahe watched them from the crowd. The way Ye Mingxin looked at Han Feixu, and how Han Feixu looked back at Ye Mingxin was identical.
They truly loved each other.
Yin Jiahe’s heart was moved for a moment, and she lowered her head in thought before finally making up her mind.
She and Yu Tingxue didn’t return home until after 8 p.m. because they attended both the wedding and Ye Mingxin’s daughter’s birthday party. By the time everything ended, it was already quite late in the evening. Yan Yuerong also invited them for dinner afterward so they stayed for another meal.
Yu Tingxue took off her coat as she entered the house and headed straight for the kitchen. She poured a cup of warm tea and turned back with a smile, “The chef at Ye Mingxin’s house makes such salty dishes, I don’t think I can get used to their food. I guess I’ll be drinking water all night. I might even be bloated tomorrow from all the water.”
After speaking, she tilted her head to look at Yin Jiahe, “Why aren’t you taking off your coat?”
Yin Jiahe was wearing a bright red double-breasted long coat today, a style that was both gorgeous and extravagant. She stood opposite Yu Tingxue, staring directly into her eyes, “Yu Tingxue, our contract expired two months ago.”
Hearing this, Yu Tingxue smiled lightly, “If it’s expired, then so be it. Why does it matter?”
“It means I’m free now.”
Yu Tingxue’s smile deepened, “You’ve always been free. Officially, we had a contract, but in reality, it was just a few pieces of scrap paper. You are and have always been my girlfriend, no different from other people in relationships.”
Yin Jiahe smiled too, but hers was much colder, “Contract or scrap paper, whatever you call it, I’m leaving.”
Hearing this, Yu Tingxue’s expression still didn’t change. She walked out of the kitchen, looking up at Yin Jiahe, “Jiahe, are you still mad at me?”
Yin Jiahe shook her head lightly, |I’m not mad. I just wanted to let you know, we have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
Yu Tingxue looked at her for a long five seconds without saying anything. After five seconds, she slightly tilted her head, as if to hide her true emotions. Quickly, she faced Yin Jiahe again, her smile faltering, “Give me a reason then. Don’t say any nonsense about the contract expiring. I’ve never treated you as a fake lover bought with a contract. You’re my girlfriend and I like you, and I always want to be with you.”
Yin Jiahe chuckled, “A reason? That’s simple. When I’m with you, I can’t breathe.”
“Do you know what it feels like to be suffocated? I’ve told you many times, I don’t like being kept under surveillance all the time. But you never listened. Do you know how many times I wanted to confront you, but I couldn’t? With the contract, I had to play the role of an obedient lover. You say you treat me as a girlfriend, but I never felt that way. There’s a saying, ‘prostitutes can’t say no’, Yin Jiahe stepped back, smiling bitterly, “Don’t you think I’m just like a prostitute?”
Yin Jiahe’s words were too harsh and Yu Tingxue’s face paled for a moment. If Yin Jiahe had cursed her, she might not have felt anything. But hearing Yin Jiahe degrading herself so badly made her feel like her heart was being torn apart.
“I don’t…” Yu Tingxue opened her mouth, but Yin Jiahe’s sarcastic smile made her realize that no matter what she said, Yin Jiahe wouldn’t listen. She stiffened and said softly, “I’ll change. I’m already trying to change. Jiahe, give me another chance…”
When Yin Jiahe made up her mind, she had already anticipated such an outcome. That Yu Tingxue would say soft and tender words to make her stay. But Yin Jiahe didn’t want to hear any of it, let alone believe it.
She placed her index finger on her lips, gesturing for silence.
Yu Tingxue froze as Yin Jiahe lowered her hand, leaned slightly forward, and whispered, “You know, I’ve never told you about this.”
“There were two or three times when I wanted to jump off the building while you were sleeping next to me. Sometimes, I even thought of cutting my veins in the bathroom.”
In an instant, Yu Tingxue’s face drained of color. She widened her eyes, unable to utter a sound.
Yin Jiahe continued, her voice as soft as a mother lulling a child to sleep, but her words were more terrifying than the cruelest fairy tales, “All because I wanted to get back at you. Just imagining your face when you wake up to find my body made me feel a lot better.”
Yin Jiahe straightened up and looked quietly at Yu Tingxue, “Now, is there anything else you want to say?”
Yu Tingxue stood frozen on the spot, staring blankly at Yin Jiahe, unable to speak or act. She had never imagined Yin Jiahe would hate her so much that she’d consider suicide as revenge.
Before she knew it, tears fell down Yu Tingxue’s cheeks. Yin Jiahe moved slightly, about to speak again, but paused for a second before closing her mouth and then opening it again, “Don’t worry, that’s all in the past. I won’t have such extreme thoughts anymore. But if I continue to stay with you, I’m afraid one day it won’t just be a thought, but an action already taken.”
“So,” Yin Jiahe smiled, “I’ve decided to leave. I hope we never meet again. After all, I’m not happy most of the time when I see you.”
