I woke up to find I have a child - Chapter 103
While Han Feixu was at Yin Jiahe’s place, Ye Mingxin wasn’t idle. She didn’t just wait around for news; she went straight to Yu Tingxue’s home.
True to Han Feixu’s description, Yu Tingxue was in a sorry state, curled up in bed, unable to eat or sleep well while always clutching her phone with Yin Jiahe’s photo on the screen.
Yu Tingxue got up to open the door when she heard someone knocking but barely spared the other person a glance when she saw it was Ye Mingxin. She slowly turned around, returned to her bedroom, and climbed back into bed before tucking herself underneath her blanket. After finding a comfortable position, she just stopped moving.
Ye Mingxin: “…”
After a moment of silence, she asked, “How many days have you not gone out?”
“I don’t know, leave me alone.”
Ye Mingxin fell silent again, “I don’t want to bother you, but I’m fulfilling my duty as a friend to check on you. I’m relieved to see that you’re still alive.”
Yu Tingxue glanced at Ye Mingxin expressionlessly and buried herself in her blankets, now only her head was peeking out. After a moment of eye contact, Ye Mingxin smiled and walked over to pat her lightly on the head.”
“Giving up like this isn’t your style. You know Yin Jiahe better than anyone and you know she still likes you. Just pursue her for a while, and she’ll come back to you. But this time, you definitely can’t set up any contracts, and you can’t be so controlling. She’s your lover, not your possession. What you can manage is only her loyalty to you, nothing else is your business.”
Hearing this, Yu Tingxue curled up tighter. Ye Mingxin’s words, meant to comfort, only seemed to bring her to the verge of tears.
Ye Mingxin: “…” What did I say wrong?
She hadn’t said anything wrong. Yu Tingxue understood all of it, but she dared not face Yin Jiahe. She was afraid that seeing her would provoke extreme thoughts in Yin Jiahe again.
Yu Tingxue was a closed book, only speaking if she chose to and no amount of questioning or coaxing from others would make her utter a word. Knowing this, Ye Mingxin naturally didn’t waste any time. She stayed a bit longer, then turned her head and whispered, “I asked Little Xu to persuade Yin Jiahe, but I’m not sure if it’ll work. We outsiders really can’t do much in these situations. It’s something you have to do yourself. I can’t help you much, but I can share some of my own experience.”
Yu Tingxue quietly lifted her eyes, meeting Ye Mingxin’s gaze. Ye Mingxin smiled gently, “Love is the most important thing in life for everyone. No one would spend years of their time on someone they don’t love. Her willingness to stay by your side signifies her love for you, and that is the deepest recognition you could receive.”
These words were somewhat profound, and Yu Tingxue pondered over them for a long time, even after Ye Mingxin had left. She was still thinking as the sun was setting. Finally, as she watched the sun about to set, Yu Tingxue threw off the blankets and got out of bed.
Yu Tingxue hadn’t stayed indoors all the time. When she heard from her subordinates that Yin Jiahe had returned from her hometown, she had gone out. She had gone out at night in the deep, dark hours, driving sneakily in a little Toyota that the grocery shopping housekeeper used. She would then drive near Yin Jiahe’s home, park on the street, and then stare at the darkened windows to alleviate the longing that was driving her mad.
The grocery-shopping housekeeper had installed a dashcam in the car, and she would be shocked to discover upon her return that her employer often cried in that car, sometimes for over two hours, with a red nose as she stared in a fixed direction.
Yu Tingxue had initially planned to go out again tonight, but after hearing Ye Mingxin’s words, she couldn’t help herself.
So, Yu Tingxue ran to the closet and took out Yin Jiahe’s sunglasses, mask, and hat.
Yu Tingxue was two sizes smaller than Yin Jiahe. When she wore Yin Jiahe’s hat, it covered her eyes entirely. After finally adjusting it properly, she put on a British-style black coat she had never worn before. Dressed in all black with even her ears covered by her hair, she left her house.
Yin Jiahe lived in a high-end residential area with small gaps between the houses. Yu Tingxue parked the car on a nearby slope, then routinely gazed up at the place that was so close yet so far for her.
Just thinking about the words Yin Jiahe said before leaving made Yu Tingxue feel regretful and wronged. She lifted her sunglasses, quickly wiped the corners of her eyes, and then put the sunglasses back down.
She wanted to cry.
But she couldn’t, not while it was still light outside.
While Yu Tingxue was feeling aggrieved in her car, Yin Jiahe was sitting in the bedroom and meditating. Her chest felt tight after thinking for so long and was just about to open the window when she saw a car parked next to the house diagonally across from her. The car’s brand didn’t match the brands of this neighborhood at all.
Squinting for a while, she realized something was off about the driver.
Is that a driver or a secret agent?
But within two seconds, Yin Jiahe recognized her and the hand clutching the window stiffened. She stared at the car for a long time, and then grew irritated. She turned and went back into her room, no longer wanting to look at the person below.
Two hours later, Yin Jiahe returned to the window. It was dark by then. Using the curtains to hide herself, like a thief, she looked sneakily down at the street. Yu Tingxue was still there, and her posture barely changed.
No, she wasn’t going to worry. That woman will leave when it’s time.
Thinking this, Yin Jiahe left again.
Two hours passed, and she returned.
It was almost 10 p.m. now, and Yu Tingxue still hadn’t left. She had been in the car for four hours. Wasn’t she tired?
Yin Jiahe frowned and left once more.
This time, after five minutes, she came back, this time with a monocular telescope she used for concerts.
The monocular provided a clear view. With the curtain for cover, Yin Jiahe wasn’t afraid of being spotted Yu Tingxue’s gaze was directed right at her location. She held the monocular for a long time until finally, Yu Tingxue made a different move.
She took off her sunglasses, pulled out two tissues, and bowed her head to wipe her eyes.
This action pulled an unknown string in Yin Jiahe’s heart. Yu Tingxue suddenly paused, letting the tissues fall out of her hands, and then covered her face with both hands, and bent deeply at the waist. Her shoulders were trembling.
Even without hearing any sound, Yin Jiahe understood. She was crying.
Yu Tingxue might appear shy, silent, and seemingly fragile on the surface, but in reality, she rarely ever cried.
As a girl, there are always a few times a year when one cries, usually due to the influences of hormonal fluctuations that affect emotions. Crying is the best way for most people to vent their feelings. So tears don’t always signify sadness and, sometimes, shedding a few tears can be a way to relieve stress.
But in the five years Yin Jiahe had been with Yu Tingxue, she had seen her cry only twice. Once was when a family member passed away, and she had secretly wiped away a tear during the funeral. The other time was when Yin Jiahe, unable to bear it anymore, impulsively suggested breaking up. Yu Tingxue’s eyes immediately reddened, but the tears just swirled and never fell.
This was the first time she saw her fully breaking down and crying.
It felt like her heart was being stabbed by a needle.
Yin Jiahe lowered the monocular and pursed her lips. Without it, she couldn’t see Yu Tingxue, only half of her silhouette in the darkness of the car.
Yin Jiahe was silent for a long time before she tightly closed her curtains.
Human tears aren’t endless. After crying to a certain extent, one simply can’t cry anymore. It’s not that the tear glands stopped working, but rather the body had sent a signal forbidding further crying because to continue would only cause harm.
Yu Tingxue gradually stopped crying and found herself sitting in the driver’s seat, lost in thought. It was only midnight, and she usually didn’t return until three or four in the morning. Even then, she would only sleep a little bit before continuing to sulk.
Yu Tingxue hung her head. Who knows what she was thinking.
Knock, knock.
Someone was knocking on her car window.
Yu Tingxue looked up in surprise to see Yin Jiahe standing outside her window, her face cold and clearly unhappy.
Yu Tingxue froze.
Seeing she wasn’t coming out or rolling down the window, Yin Jiahe lost her patience and knocked harder and more incessantly this time.
After half a minute, the window moved, lowering just about half a centimeter.
Yin Jiahe: “…Come out.”
Another half minute passed, and with a click, the car door opened. Yu Tingxue squeezed out from the gap, fully covered in her black outfit, her hat pulled down to below her nose and hiding her entire face.
Yin Jiahe looked at her odd attire and then lifted her hat. Yu Tingxue, taken by surprise, locked eyes with Yin Jiahe. She paused, then quickly lowered her head, as if afraid Yin Jiahe would see her.
She always remembered what Yin Jiahe had said, that it was because of her that Yin Jiahe had such extreme thoughts about…death. She really didn’t want to provoke even the slightest harmful thought in Yin Jiahe again…
Yin Jiahe pursed her lips, “Come here.”
After saying this, Yin Jiahe turned around and walked towards her house, leaving Yu Tingxue to hesitate between following and leaving.
Reaching the door, Yin Jiahe looked back to see Yu Tingxue hadn’t moved a step, and her face darkened, “Come here.”
This command was more stern than the last, prompting Yu Tingxue to hurry over for fear of upsetting Yin Jiahe again.
Watching Yu Tingxue’s movements, Yin Jiahe felt a subtle feeling well up in her heart.
Han Feixu was right. She indeed had complete control over Yu Tingxue.
Once in the living room, Yu Tingxue sat awkwardly on a single sofa while Yin Jiahe took a high stool and stared down at her, “What were you doing outside?”
Yu Tingxue mumbled a reply, “Nothing.”
“I said it already, I don’t want to see you again.”
Yu Tingxue slowly lowered her head, her voice so soft it was almost inaudible, “I know, and I didn’t want you to see me.”
“…I’m sorry, I won’t do it again,” she took a deep breath, lifting her head, her gaze filled with hesitation and sorrow, “Don’t be angry and don’t worry, I’ll leave now and won’t come back again.”
With that, she stood up and turned to leave, but Yin Jiahe watched her back and said, “Stop.”
Yu Tingxue froze instantly. Yin Jiahe stood up and walked behind her, speaking slowly, “When you set a five-year contract at the beginning of our acquaintance you said you would pay me a minimum of three million a year in fixed fees for a total of fifteen million over five years. Do you remember what I said then?”
Yu Tingxue’s throat tightened, and after a long pause, she replied, “I remember. You said it was the first time you realized how expensive and yet how cheap you are.”
At first, she didn’t know how to keep Yin Jiahe by her side. She had watched her older brothers treat women like this, so she thought it was normal and that the other party wouldn’t mind. Later, realizing it was wrong, she quickly changed her ways, always emphasizing to others that Yin Jiahe was her girlfriend, and not something bought. Instead of giving her money, she would desperately send good resources her way instead.
Now, thinking back, she realized this was the root cause of their conflict. If she hadn’t presented such a contract at the beginning, if she had learned how to love someone instead of forcibly binding them to her side, perhaps they wouldn’t have reached this point.
Yu Tingxue felt terrible inside. She closed her eyes, bracing for Yin Jiahe’s sarcasm and ridicule.
But after waiting a long time, the expected ridicule never came. Confused, she opened her eyes and found that Yin Jiahe had at some point arrived in front of her and was holding a stack of papers towards her.
Yu Tingxue focused eyes and saw two big characters on the first page — “Financial Backer Contract.”
She was stunned.
“The cost of living wasn’t the same five years ago as it is now, so I’ve decided to give you a bit more, five million a year, making it twenty-five million over five years. This time, it’s your turn to be my bought lover, and you’ll get to experience what it feels like to be considered so expensive yet so cheap, how about it?”
Yin Jiahe’s expression was still quite fierce because she couldn’t be too soft-hearted. Despite wanting to leave Yu Tingxue hanging a bit longer, seeing her cry made her unable to stand it and her heart was distraught at her tears.
When she brought out this contract, she felt a bit embarrassed, but then, she stopped caring about things like shame. She looked at Yu Tingxue with hesitant eyes.
Why wasn’t she saying anything? What did her silence mean? That she didn’t want to?
Yin Jiahe’s face soured immediately, and she swiftly retracted the contract, “Forget it then. With my current worth, I could raise and keep any celebrity I wanted to. Someone so expensive and valuable like President Yu isn’t someone I can….”
“I’ll do it! I want to do it! I want to do it!” Yu Tingxue finally snapped out of her shock, grabbing the contract so fiercely she nearly tore it in two.
Tears welled up in Yu Tingxue’s eyes again. She took a tentative step forward and, seeing no disgust from Yin Jiahe, she said, “I…I’m willing to be your lover, so keep me, raise me, please. As long as I can stay by your side, I can accept any status.”
For someone as proud as Yu Tingxue, admitting such a thing was not easy. Yin Jiahe was visibly moved. A few seconds later, she heard Yu Tingxue add, “About the duration, five years might be too short, how about changing it to fifty years?”
Yu Tingxue looked at her expectantly, her face still wet with fresh tears.
Yin Jiahe gave a cold laugh, reaching out to wipe away Yu Tingxue’s tears. Her expression seemed indifferent, but her touch was sweet and gentle.
“It’ll depend on your performance.”
