I woke up to find I have a child - Chapter 2
Seeing how the other person hung up, Han Feixu felt wronged and called back. When the other party picked up again, she immediately shouted: “I’m not lying!”
After listening to her friend complain for a long time, Shen Sangluo finally felt that something was wrong. This Han Feixu seemed rash and reckless, and her voice is so different from usual. She hasn’t heard Han Feixu shout in years. She usually spoke in a low and quiet voice and did not yell at all.
Feeling that something was wrong, she told Han Feixu to go to the hospital and wait for her there while she asked her boss for a leave of absence.
From the fourth grade of elementary school to the third grade of high school, the two of them have always been classmates and best friends. Compared to Han Feixu, who didn’t like to study and liked to skip classes, Shen Sangluo was like the backbone of the relationship. Whenever something goes wrong, Han Feixu will habitually ask her for help.
With such clear instructions, Han Feixu was no longer as flustered and walked out of her house. She called a taxi and went to the hospital Shen Sangluo told her to go. This whole situation was just so unbelievable. If she really is sick, however, she must be really sick.
The Peking Union Medical College Hospital hasn’t changed much. It still had almost the same decoration as ten years ago, save for the automatic registration machine up front. When she got out of the taxi, Shen Sangluo with sharp eyes had already seen her and quickly came over, “Let’s go, I’ve already made an appointment for you….”
Shen Sangluo’s voice stopped abruptly, and she raised her eyebrows, “Han Feixu, did you really come outside wearing that!”
With her current tense mood, Han Feixu had completely forgotten to change clothes and had come out in pajamas. Han Feixu took out a red leather wallet she had found earlier and handed a 100 yuan bill to the driver. The driver looked at her awkwardly, “This is 100 yuan, I don’t have that much change on me. Miss, how about you just WeChat Pay me the money?” (T/N: WeChat Pay acts like paypal in China, you can transfer money there.)
Han Feixu held the money still in her hand and then asked blankly, “What’s WeChat Pay?”
The driver looked at her like he was looking at a cavemen who had never seen the light of day. He looked at Shen Sangluo outside the car. The latter was silent. She glanced at the meter. The total amount was about 20 yuan. She took out a 50 yuan bill from her wallet, “Mister, you can keep the change.”
The driver happily accepted the payment that was twice the fare’s charge and left while Shen Sangluo supported Han Feixu worriedly, “Did you bump your head yesterday?”
She then took two steps forward and sniffed Han Feixu’s body, “I don’t smell any alcohol either…..Forget it, let’s go in and check you out first. However, let me warn you in advance, if you’re lying to me again, I will never forgive you.”
After saying so, she took Han Feixu up to the waiting room on the second floor, but as she pulled, the other person did not budge. She looked back and saw that Han Feixu was looking at her with a shocked expression.
“Y-You…..how did you turn into this?”
When they were students, Shen Sangluo was an all-rounder. A student who was good at studying, good at sports, popular and obedient. Except for occasionally skipping class because of Han Feixu, she would never dare to break the rules.
She dressed commonly like every other student in China, with short hair, a refreshing face, and no accessories except for a simple sports watch.
And now Shen Sangluo, wore slanted bangs to the left and had long golden brown hair curled up, with appropriate shades of makeup on her face. She wore a standard lady’s pant suit and a pair of 10 cm black high heels. She wore such fearsome high heels and yet walked faster than Han Feixu in slippers.
Is this still the old Shen Sangluo who couldn’t even walk in more than five centimeter heels?
Shen Sangluo did not answer her, and frowned. She let her go and took out a phone instead.
“It’s more serious than I thought. It’ll take too long if we wait here, we’ll go to a private hospital for examination instead. Wait a minute, I’ll contact the doctor.”
Then Shen Sangluo took her to a private hospital during which she brought a set of suitable clothes for her to change into in the back of the car while Shen Sangluo drove.
They went to the private hospital, and quickly got a series of tests done. The doctor then told her that there was nothing wrong with her and she was perfectly healthy.
Han Feixu’s identity is special, and now we’re at a critical juncture. Shen Sangluo thought to herself.
Although Han Feixu doesn’t remember anything, Shen Sangluo certainly does. That’s why she took her to a hospital that she had never set foot in, and changed her name, even the illness she was previously diagnosed with was deleted, but when they finally got the results back, both of them were surprised.
Shen Sangluo didn’t lose his temper at her friend. Although she really is busy today and her boss almost flipped the desk when she left, she couldn’t leave her friend alone.
Because when she looked at Han Feixu, she knew that the other party was definitely not lying.
Back in the car, Han Feixu looked at her nervously, “I wasn’t lying. I was still sleeping at home, and then I woke up into this situation. Shen Sangluo, I’m really not lying to you.”
Shen Sangluo took a deep breath and rubbed her eyebrows. It was just one horrible thing after another. They had just dealt with the last situation and now this happened.
Alright, don’t panic, Han Feixu needs you right now.
After taking a deep breath, Shen Sangluo felt that she was much calmer, and she asked, “What do you remember?”
Seeing that the other party believed her, Han Feixu sat back in her position, frowning as she recalled, “I remember us going to school and then after school going home to eat. Then I packed my things and was going to meet you. We agreed to go to the Taiyangyu hotel in the city center, but because I was too sleepy, I took a little nap. Then when I woke up, I was here.”
Taiyangyu Hotel….
Shen Sangluo has been to Taiyangyu Hotel only once when she was still a child and that day did not leave a good impression on her, “Was it on May 4th, on Youth day?”
“En, on Youth day. I was going to see Ye Mingxin and you promised to accompany me! Oh, that’s right!” Han Feixu suddenly became excited. She grabbed Shen Sangluo’s arm and opened her eyes wide. “Do you know who I saw when I woke up? Ye Mingxin! Although the appearance has changed a lot, I still recognized her at a glance! She’s my idol! I’m so lucky to have been able to get such a close look of her!”
However, Shen Sangluo’s focus seemed to be on something else. Just like Han Feixu, her eyes were widened, but unlike Han Feixu, she did not look happy. “When you woke up, you saw Ye Mingxin. Does that mean you slept with her yesterday?”
Han Feixu looked at her blankly, “No, what? Of course not. She was in another room.”
Shen Sangluo’s expression relaxed. She did not want to watch her best friend dive into those muddy waters again. Han Fexiu had finally made up her mind to divorce after all.
Shen Sangluo’s fingers tapped on the steering wheel and then said lightly, “From the looks of it, you have amnesia.”
Han Feixu whispered: “But I don’t think I am an amnesiac…”
“Then you’re saying it’s transmigration? Please, time-traveling transmigration is so out of fashion.” Shen Sangluo retorted ruthlessly.
Han Feixu blinked, “What do you mean ‘time-traveling transmigration’?” (T/N: The idea of transmigration in older Chinese novels was simply transmigrating into a novel or movie, and it wasn’t until around 2010 that time-traveling transmigration (i.e. historical transmigration) became popular)
“….”
As the saying goes, three years is one era, and since her memory has a gap of ten years, she missed the equivalent of three eras. No wonder she acted like a caveman who hasn’t seen the light of day.
Shen Sangluo could only take half the day off and so she couldn’t stay outside for long. She clapped her hands together, “Alright, let’s not talk about that for now. So, you said you’ve lost your memory today, right? Then tell me all of the details of what you have done or said today, especially anything that has to do with Ye Mingxin! Nothing can be overlooked!”
Even if Han Feixu is a careless and naive person, she had clearly noticed Shen Sangluo’s deep enmity towards Ye Mingxin. She felt it was strange, but Shen Sangluo didn’t give her time to ask.
She told Shen Sangluo everything that had happened and Shen Sangluo narrowed her eyes, “In other words, she hasn’t noticed yet.”
Shen Sangluo’s current expression at this time was the same as when discussing the Party’s political adversary, the Kuomintang, as if she was talking about a hated enemy. Han Feixu didn’t understand what was going on. And why couldn’t her amnesia be revealed? Isn’t it just amnesia? It’s not like she committed arson or murder.
Shen Sangluo took out her phone to check the time and saw that she had to return to the company now. Shen Sangluo quickly fastened her seatbelt and started the car, “Now remember to do everything I just said. You have to remember!”
Seeing her frantic expression, Han Feixu suddenly felt nervous and quickly nodded.
“Now I will drop you off at the intersection ahead and you will take a taxi home. The first thing after you get home is to pack your things. Everything else is not important. Just grab your ID, notebook, phone, charger and all the paper documents in your room. Got it?”
She got it, but why did she need to do this?
“When you’re done packing, go to my house. I will send you my address in a bit. However, the most important thing is that you must not let others know about your amnesia. Especially Ye Mingxin! You must not be discovered by her, otherwise you will die. Do you understand?”
Han Feixu looked puzzled, “What? Why? What’s so bad about letting them know about my amnesia?”
Shen Sang slammed the brakes, and she palmed her forehead in frustration, “I forgot that you only have memories up until the second year of high school, so you wouldn’t know what happened these last ten years. Here, let me show you some photos.”
Nowadays, paper photos are rare. Shen Sangluo looked through her mobile phone album for a long time but didn’t find the photos she wanted. Finally, she could only go to Ye Mingxin’s mother’s friends circle to look through their posts. Then she pointed at a picture on the screen and showed Han Fexisu,
“This is you.”
Looking at the elegant and indifferent woman that smiled thinly at the camera in the photo, Han Feixu expressed sincerely, “I am so beautiful.”
Shen Sangluo: “…”
She stayed silent for a while and then pointed at Ye Mingxin standing beside the Han Feixu in the photo. However the actress wore an even more indifferent expression on her face than the Han Feixu in the picture.
“This is your wife.”
Han Feixu was shocked: “What?!”
Knowing that she would react like this, Shen Sangluo quickly moved her finger to the little girl who was standing between the two of them. The girl barely reached the women’s thighs, “And this is your daughter.”
“M-mine?!”
“If she’s not yours, then is she mine?” Shen Sangluo said sarcastically. She looked at Han Feixu’s expression carefully. It seemed that Han Feixu was only shocked by the reality of having a wife and a daughter old enough to sell soy sauce, but didn’t seem to have any other questions.
Shen Sangluo felt that was a little strange, but they’ll worry about that later, “Now I will answer your question from earlier about what’s so bad about having your amnesia problem known by the others. Right now, you are going through a divorce with Ye Mingxin. Soon you will have to fight her for custody rights. If they know you have amnesia, do you think you’ll still get custody over Yiyi?”
