Usually, Yin Jiahe doesn’t have such a big entourage following her. She didn’t dispatch so many resources and manpower last time during the variety show. The reason why Yu Tingxue sent so many people with her this time was because the big boss in question couldn’t be there with her and was worried something might happen.
If Han Feixu and the others had arrived just a little bit earlier, they would have seen an out of ordinary expression on Yin Jiahe’s face.
She was also very surprised because Yu Tingxue forgot to tell her in advance.
Later in the evening, Lin Yi and Yin Jiahe filmed a scene together. With someone like Lin Yi to compare to, Yin Jiahe’s performance was very unsatisfactory in comparison. It took them over an hour and half to shoot 13 different takes. After they finally finished, Lin Yi came over and smiled apologetically to Ye Mingxin who was playing on her phone, “I’ve kept you waiting.”
“It’s alright, I haven’t starved to death yet.” Ye Mingxin put away her phone as she responded with a smile.
Lin Yi: “Well I’m so hungry that I no longer have the strength to argue with you. The older one gets, the less able they are to skip a meal. Let’s hurry up and go eat.”
The bar’s menu wasn’t very broad so Lin Yi asked her assistant to order some food while the two of them took off their makeup before leaving.
The makeup removal of an actress is different compared to that of an ordinary makeup removal. After a normal person removes their makeup, they can proudly go out with their bare face. An actress, on the other hand, must put on a new layer of light makeup after removing their previous makeup. They can’t go out the door without makeup for fear of photos being taken of their bare face. People like Han Feixu who carelessly and openly go out without any makeup is considered someone who “left behind their brain” in the industry.
Darkness covered the night sky and after the two of them took off their makeup they slowly made their way to the hotel. The assistants followed behind them but they were asked to leave once inside the hotel. Lan Zhu, Ye Mingxin’s assistant, apprehensively replied, “Mingxin-jie, I’ll wait for you outside.”
Lin Yi laughed, “Why? Are you afraid that I will eat your Mingxin-jie alive? Girl, please, it would be a miracle if she doesn’t eat me alive.”
Ye Mingxin shook her head, “I’m afraid I don’t have that big of an appetite.”
“You should return first, I can walk back later by myself. It’s close anyway, just opposite our rooms.”
The left side of the fourth floor is filled with rooms while the right side is the leisure and entertainment area. The bar itself is a complicated structure. The actors are currently living on the four floor and the technical crew on the fifth. The fourth floor’s rooms are much bigger and intricate than the ones on the fifth floor and they are closer to the entertainment area, making it easy for one to simply walk out and find a place to relax.
Lan Zhu left in the end and so only the two of them were left in the private room.
Lin Yi stretched, “I’m exhausted. Doing a palace drama is no fun at all. I have to act proper and collected in everything I do. Do this, don’t do that, etc. Fortunately I only have a cameo role and I can leave the day after tomorrow. After I leave, you will be the one who has to keep it together.”
There was a hint of smugness in her tone and Ye Mingxin looked at her blankly, “I really should call Little Xu over and let her see your current state.”
Lin Yi raised an eyebrow, “And what’s wrong with my current state?”
Ye Mingxin glanced away with no intention to answer but half a minute later she stared back at Lin Yi and said, “Look at you, how are you similar to my mother-in-law at all. She was the founder of a new movement that changed female literature and you….the only thing you two have in common is that you’re both women.”
Lin Yi chuckled at her words, “I don’t know why either. I have never met Zhong Ya before,” She winked playfully, “Maybe it’s because we have similar temperaments?”
Although she didn’t say anything, the words “You are shameless” were written all over Ye Mingxin’s face.
Lin Yi’s joking expression turned serious as they spoke of Zhong Ya, “Someone wants to make a film adaptation of ?Moon of the Wu Palace?. They’re looking for the living relatives of Zhong Ya in order to obtain the licensing rights to film it. This someone is a person I know, so in your opinion do you think Little Xu will allow it?”
Han feixu’s mother, Zhong Ya, never licensed her works to be adapted into film or television when she was alive. In the years following her death, Han Fiexu only allowed one to be licensed and adapted. It was adapted into a TV series and Ye Mingxin played the leading role in it. The public reception was pretty good, but it did not achieve Han Feixu’s desired effects.
Ye Mingxin shook her head.
Lin Yi was not surprised, “That sounds about right. It’s better to not film it at all than to have it be filmed poorly.”
Ye Mingxin shook her head again, “No, it’s not that she won’t sell the license at all, it’s that she’s temporarily closed down that avenue.”
Lin Yi couldn’t understand, “So she will allow others to buy the licensing rights a while later? Why? So she can raise the price?”
The current Han Feixu has amnesia so she can’t remember anything let alone understand copyright matters. Therefore it is not appropriate for her to make any decisions on this front until she remembers the past or when her mindset matures again.
In order to not let Lin Yi find out about Han Feixu’s amnesia, Ye Mingxin hastily explained that the reason was because Han Feixu wanted to wait and see some of the producers’ skills first before deciding.
Lin Yi seemed to accept her explanation and finally let the matter drop.
As two female celebrities who need to watch their figure, the appetite of these two combined wasn’t enough to match a normal person’s. After eating just a few mouthfuls, Ye Mingxin placed her fork down and sighed, “Everything tastes like chewing wax when I’m eating with you.”
Lin Yi blankly replied, “If you make fun of me again, I will throw hands.”
Ye Mingxin: “….”
Who knows if Lin Yi’s threat actually made a mark of if Ye Mingxin was too lazy to bother, but neither spoke anymore after that for a while.
Lin Yi prodded at the lobster meat on her plate and then said lightly, “It seems your relationship has finally turned around. Now is the time to solve those problems from the past as soon as possible.”
Ye Mingxin was doubtful, “Who are you to give advice on the matters between us?”
Lin Yi chuckled, “True, I may not understand the matters between you two but I have my own experience in these things. Do you know how I felt when I first held my divorce certificate?”
Ye Mingxin has never heard Lin Yi talk about this subject before and she straightened up, placing her arms on the table as she leaned forward to listen, “An unbearable pain?”
Lin Yi shook her head lightly.
“Like you are stabbed in the heart with a knife?”
Lin Yi shook her head again.
“Frustrated as if you lost everything?”
Lin Yi smiled lightly, “None of the above. It felt like the sun was finally rising over the horizon.”
Ye Mingxin: “…..Why?”
Lin Yi lowered her head as she studied the dark red wine in her glass, “The day I exited the Civil Affairs Bureau I felt that the sky was suddenly brighter. Can you understand that feeling? As if the pores on my body were blocked by unknown substances for two years and I couldn’t breathe but then suddenly one day those substances disappeared. I finally felt free.”
She then grew serious as she lifted her head and searched Ye Mingxin’s face for a common understanding, “I believe that’s how a prisoner feels when they are finally released. At that time I felt that the sky was amazingly blue, the trees exuberantly green, and the air was breathtakingly fresh! The world was suddenly so beautiful! If it weren’t for where I was at the time, I would’ve laid down and rolled around on the ground right there and then!”
Ye Mingxin stared quietly at Lin Yi and then asked sincerely, “Did your ex-wife set your house on fire?”
Lin Yi replied bewilderedly, “Uh, no.”
“Then she cheated on you?”
Lin Yi laughed, “Of course not. If someone was to cheat, it would’ve been me. I would never have given her a chance to cheat on me in the first place.”
“Then why do you hate her so much?!”
Lin Yi replied innocently, “I don’t hate her.”
After a short pause, she smiled sweetly, “I don’t hate my ex-wife and she doesn’t hate me. We had been married for two years, but only the first year was full of bliss but then the latter half was full of conflict. However, do you know that I only felt pain for half a year? By the last year of our short-lived marriage, I no longer felt anything towards her anymore. Yet I was not willing to divorce her like this so I stalled for a long time and she did the same, but this stalling was not the solution. Divorce was.”
Ye Mingxin frowned, “What are you trying to say?”
“I want to say that….relationships are not durable goods but something that dries up easily. When I first got divorced, I didn’t understand this truth. Then three years later, when I saw her social media status one night, I suddenly understood why we divorced.”
“The reason why we divorced was because we consumed each other with our fire. Neither of us were willing to compromise. We were always so busy, yet unwilling to break up for the sake of our own reputations, digintity, and even at our wedding we were arguing about the littlest of things with red faces. But the most fundamental reason was that we were each burning each other, consuming each other till nothing was left. Her fire consumed me and mine consumed hers until in the end there was no relationship left between us. That is why I felt as if I was finally released from a long sentence when we divorced.”
She pushed the German sausage around on her plate as she looked up at Ye Mingxin with a light expression, “So while she still has feelings for you, you should hurry up and fix the things between you two. You should also fix that temper of yours by the way. Otherwise you two will walk down the road of divorce once again sooner or later.”
The air was silent between them before Ye Mingxin finally spoke up, “Why are you telling me all this?”
Lin Yi tilted her head in a thinking gesture, “En….well I could be considered half-a-relative on Feixu’s side of the family. With her parents gone, there is no one else to tell you these things. So there is no other choice but to send me up to give you a talk.”
“Although I am only three years older than you, I think I am psychologically more mature than the both of you combined.”
These words were truthful and so Ye Mignxin did not refuse them.
Ye Mingxin stared at her intensely for a while before blurting out a question that had been burning inside her heart, “Have you ever loved Little Xu?”
Lin Yi was taking a sip of her wine when these words came out and teh hand holding her glass shook causing the wine to spill out. She lifted her head up in astonishment as red wine dripped down her hand, “Please, are you kidding me? I don’t even like girls like Feixu, okay? I have a type!”
Ye Mingxin didn’t look apologetic at all as her voice said coldly, “Oh, I was just asking, why are you getting all worked up for?”
Lin Yi put down the wine glass and wiped her hands as she replied, “Feixu may look naive and silly on the surface, but her heart is quite sharp. I like those who are silly on the surface and are silly at heart as well.”
Someone who is silly inside and out.
…..Isn’t this a straight man’s favorite type?
Ye Mingxin felt that she had seen this type before somewhere and quite recently too….before she could remember who, Lin Yi suddenly added, “I think you’re a perfect match for this type.”
Ye Mingxin blankly raised an eyebrow, “If you say something like that again, I will also start throwing hands with you.”
