I woke up to find I have a child - Chapter 67
?Han Feixu?I saw her today.?
After much thought, Han Feixu sent this sentence over. It was neither polite nor intimate, but concise and full of meaning.
Han Feixu wasn’t sure about the relationship between the two doctors, but He Yanran’s reaction made her feel that their relationship was definitely not simple.
Dr. Zhang didn’t reply immediately, probably because she was busy. While she waited, she called Ye Mingxin again. Ye Mingxin was filming and didn’t answer, but Lan Zhu picked up the phone and asked her nervously, “What’s the matter? Is everything alright? Does Yiyi have a fever again?”
“No, Yiyi is fine. Where is she?”
Lan Zhu glanced at Ye Mingxin, “She’s filming, what’s the matter?”
Lan Zhu had known Ye Mingxin for several years, and often, Han Feixu felt that Lan Zhu knew more about their family matters than herself. So, asking Lan Zhu was also an option.
“Do you know what’s going on between Zhang Rui and He Yanran?”
“They,” Lan Zhu replied knowingly, “used to date, but have been broken up for several years now. Why are you suddenly asking about this?”
“Nothing.” Having learned what she wanted to know, Han Feixu ended the conversation with, “I’ll be heading back tomorrow morning. I’ve already booked my ticket; you can let her know.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Dr. Zhang’s reply came. Han Feixu smiled slightly when she looked at the reply. The “where” was even more concise and to the point that her message.
Everyone was in a good mood today. Yiyi finally got to see her mother again and, for the first time ever, devoured a whole cake made entirely of cream. He Yanran, took a full day off for the first time since opening her clinic and even made the acquaintance of a single woman whose conversation and knowledge deeply resonated with her. As for Shen Sangluo, after months of inner turmoil, she finally found clarity three days ago. In regards to that endless and undefined relationship, she realized she hadn’t done anything wrong. Just as she had come to terms with this, she met a woman who matched her preferences in every way, and this woman readily agreed to go see a movie and have lunch together tomorrow.
The three of them, all in high spirits, were sitting downstairs when Han Feixu emerged from her room. She leaned against the railing, and watched as Yiyi, who had just woken up, laid in Shen Sangluo’s arms and playfully cuddled with her.
He Yanran sat quietly beside them, and Han Feixu’s gaze shifted away from Yiyi to land on He Yanran. After a short while, He Yanran suddenly reached out to grab her own bag.
She fished out her phone but frowned tightly after seeing the contact name on her screen. Meanwhile, Han Feixu stood upstairs, arms resting on the railing and hands supporting her chin as she watched this scene with delight.
He Yanran went out to take a phone call, and when she returned, her expression didn’t look good. She didn’t seem very angry, but rather quite frustrated, mixed with a hint of embarrassment along with some exasperation.
She had originally agreed to have dinner here and then have Han Feixu arrange someone to take her home. However, He Yanran left without even stopping for dinner, taking all her belongings with her. Shen Sangluo was confused by her behavior and stood up, offering to escort her out, but He Yanran waved her hand dismissively and quickly walked straight out the door. She appeared to be trying to avoid someone.
Having politely been declined, Shen Sangluo reluctantly sat back down. After a couple of seconds, she suddenly turned around and looked at Han Feixu, who was holding Yiyi in her arms. At that moment, Han Feixu hadn’t wiped off the triumphant smile on her face, a smile that seemed to say that her scheme had worked. But when she saw Shen Sangluo turning her head, Han Feixu’s expression immediately changed. She stared ahead with a blank face, as if she were completely innocent in this matter.
Shen Sangluo: “….”
Inside the house, Shen Sangluo was suspicious and questioning Han Feixu’s motives, while outside the house He Yanran was ordering a cab on her phone as she briskly walked away from the house. However, before she was even three houses down, she heard a honking sound in front of her.
She paused and looked up ahead to see Zhang Rui sitting in her Tesla, smiling warmly at her.
He Yanran: “…”
Zhang Rui had wanted to use the excuse of checking up on Yiyi to make her entrance, but she never got the chance to enter Han Feixu’s house from the moment He Yanran looked up to when she stepped into her car.
He Yanran’s expression was still ugly as she sat inside the car. Zhang Rui looked forward, not looking directly at her, as she said, “It’s better for me to take you back then to take a taxi as it’s not safe to take a taxi at this time of night.”
He Yanran looked like she had heard a joke, “Heh, taking your car is even more unsafe than taking a taxi.”
Zhang Rui shrugged, “Say what you want, but you got in anyway.”
After a long silence, Zhang Rui asked without a hint of awkwardness on her face, “I have the day off tomorrow, and two tickets for a play. Would you like to go together?”
“I have a prior appointment tomorrow with someone else.”
It had been several years since He Yanran had gone on a date. When she had just broken up with Zhang Rui, she wasn’t in the mood to go out on dates. Later, when she was feeling better, she moved to the countryside and opened a small clinic. Her clinic had only one doctor, herself, and there wasn’t even a single nurse to help her out. Furthermore, unless she fell ill or had a compelling reason to leave, her clinic remained open all year round.
And while her work was relaxed as the number of patients she saw was not as high as in a large hospital, she had very little personal time, as she had to be at the clinic day and night.
This was the first time He Yanran had considered dating someone, let alone met someone outside her circle of patients. She was just starting to consider the possibility of developing a new relationship with someone new when Zhang Rui, like a bloodhound, caught wind of it and came to interfere.
Zhang Rui acted as if she couldn’t see He Yanran’s expression, nodding as she said, “I see. That’s fine, I can buy another ticket and you can bring your friend along. We can watch it tougher?”
Who knows how He Yanran answered, but even if she agreed, Shen Sangluo wouldn’t be able to go because…
After eating dinner with Han Feixu, Shen Sangluo drove home. She took the elevator straight to the sixteenth floor after parking, but as soon as she stepped out of the elevator she saw a figure standing in front of her.
A very familiar figure.
When the elevator doors opened, the elevator’s automated system played a soft ding sound. Jiang Lingyan lifted her head, and their eyes met. Shen Sangluo remained silent for a moment, then made an instinctive reaction.
She pressed the button for the first floor in the elevator = =
Jiang Lingyan walked in without a word and simply stood in the elevator, “If you’re going down, you’re taking me with you. No matter where you go today, I will follow you.”
The elevator was very fast so not long after Jiang Lingyan finished speaking, they had reached the first floor. Shen Sangluo watched silently as the elevator’s doors opened again and pressed the button for the sixteenth floor again.
Jiang Lingyan stood beside her and watched her press the elevator button without saying anything.
She followed her back to her apartment. Shen Sangluo hesitated as she moved to open the door. She hesitated for a moment as her fingers rested on her door’s keypad and turned her head. Jiang Lingyan was still openly watching her. looked at her openly. Finally, Shen Sangluo spoke her first words after seeing her, “Aren’t you going to turn around?”
Jiang Lingyan smiled slightly and said, “No. If you think it’s unfair that I know your door’s password, I can also give you four keys to my house.”
Shen Sangluo didn’t understand, “Why would you give me four sets of keys?”
“Because I have four properties in Beijing. Two are permanent residences, one for vacation, and one for work.”
Shen Sangluo: “….”
The door opened and the two of them walked in after one another. Jiang Lingyan took a moment to look around the place and then comfortably sat herself on the sofa in a familiar manner. Shen Sangluo brought her a bottle of mineral water before she sat down. Her butt had barely touched the sofa when she heard Jiang Lingayn say, “So I heard you’ve already come to a decision.”
Previously, Shen Sangluo had told her that she needed some time to consider things, and they would meet again once she had made up her mind. This wasn’t a stalling tactic from Shen Sangluo; she genuinely had been thinking it over and had reached a decision. She just hadn’t informed Jiang Lingyan yet.
For some people, rejecting others can be a very difficult task. They may delay or avoid it, until it’s absolutely necessary to utter the words that would break someone’s heart.
But constantly delaying isn’t healthy either. Since Han Feixu had already spoken on her behalf, Shen Sangluo felt it would be easier to reaffirm her decision. She nodded and told Jiang Lingyan straightforwardly, “We’re not compatible.”
She thought she didn’t need to say more, but Jiang Lingyan raised an eyebrow and asked, “We’re not compatible. So what?”
Shen Sangluo looked at her dumbfoundedly, “We’re not compatible, so there’s no future or room for us to develop. If we know the road ahead is a dead end, there’s no need to entangle with each other.”
“Who says being incompatible means there’s no future or room to develop? There are many couples who are opposites in personality, just like Han Feixu and Ye Mingxin. Neither of their personalities match, but they’re still doing well now, right?”
Shen Sangluo looked at her silently and told Jiang Lingyan what she said to Han Feixu again, “They both were about to get divorced, but they can maintain a superficial peace now because Han Feixu doesn’t remember anything. It’s not hard to say that in the future there is a chance that they still will end up divorcing when Han Feixu regains her memory.”
After she finished, Jiang Lingyan also seemed to realize that the example she gave did not seem to prove her point at all. She paused and said, “You’re right; we’re not compatible. But that’s not the reason you’re rejecting me. I want to hear the real reason you’re using to reject me.”
Shen Sangluo frowned, but didn’t say a word. Jiang Lingyan smiled softly and sat closer to her. Her eyes were only two centimeters away from Shen Sangluo’s face, so close that Shen Sangluo could even count her eyelashes.
Jiang Lingyan opened her mouth slightly, and her voice a whisper, “Sang-Sang, maybe you don’t remember, but you chased me first. You can’t just stop caring about me after chasing me. You obviously have feelings for me and we are also very compatible in bed, why do you always resist me so much?”
Sang-Sang is the pet name Jiang Lingyan uses for her in bed. No other person in the world calls her that. Shen Sangluo moved back, trying to avoid sniffing the rose fragrance coming from Jiang Lingyan’s body. But they were too close, so no matter how much she tried to retreat, she couldn’t retreat any further.
Jiang Lingyan stared at her without blinking, “Tell me you don’t like me and I won’t come looking for you ever again.”
Shen Sangluo was hoping the entire time that Jiang Lingyan would let her go, but actually hearing Jiang Lingyan say that she would no longer come to her again, her heart seemed to shrank. Originally, she had avoided Jiang Lingyan’s gaze at all costs but now she reflexively looked her in the eye.
Jiang Lingyan’s eyes told Shen Sangluo that she was serious. So long as she said it, Jiang Lingyan would really let her go and never bother her again.
Her brain wanted her to blurt the words, but her body couldn’t seem to open her mouth. After being stuck like this for ten seconds, Jiang Lingyan smiled slightly and touched her cheek with her slender and warm fingers. Shen Sangluo could feel goosebumps rising on the back of her neck.
The hand gradually moved back and held the back of her head. Jiang Lingyan, half-kneeling on the sofa, lowered her head and kissed Shen Sangluo. After a lingering kiss, Jiang Lingyan slid her hand inside Shen Sangluo’s clothing.
