I woke up to find I have a child - Chapter 96
After much anticipation, the concert finally ended. Just two blocks east of the concert hall was the restaurant where Ye Mingxin had reserved a table. Once they were seated at the restaurant, Han Feixu was visibly restless as she asked, “Can you tell me now?”
Ye Mingxin simply smiled, “No, we’ll talk about it when we get back.”
After a three-second silent stare from Han Feixu, she remarked, “Just be glad it’s Valentine’s Day. On any other day, I’d have left you here and walked away.”
Ye Mingxin: “…”
Seeing that Han Feixu was genuinely upset and that her plan was backfiring, Ye Mingxin touched the gift in the pocket and decided it would be better to give Han Feixu her gift in the restaurant.
Their table was by the window and offered a view of the harbor at night. The lights of the concert hall were reflected off the sea, creating a dazzling display of bright lights that interlaced together. Like a giant lighthouse, these lights guided fishermen at sea and brought tranquility to those on shore.
For the first time, Han Feixu truly felt the peace that artists were always talking about during golden ages of peace.
She couldn’t help but smile as she gently swirled her wine glass. With the meal nearly finished and dessert served, Han Feixu turned back towards Ye Mingxin when she saw the other party pushing a small box towards her.
The box was small, square, and covered in leather without any visible branding. Han Feixu paused, as she realized what it might be.
She set down her wine glass and eagerly opened the box to find two rings lying side by side. They were indistinguishable from each other and embedded in the center were red diamonds that shone brilliantly under the soft restaurant lighting.
Looking up, Han Feixu saw Ye Mingxin smiling. After a moment, Ye Mingxin softly said, “These are our wedding rings. I brought them from our home.”
“This… is your Valentine’s Day gift to me?” Han Feixu murmured in an almost disbelieving tone.
Seeing that ring once again back in Han Feixu’s hands, Ye Mingxin couldn’t help feeling emotional. She suppressed the surge of emotions in her heart and said hoarsely, “Yes, in addition to the rings, there is me. The rings are the main gifts, but I come as a bonus.”
Ye Mingxin was not usually one for jokes and it left Han Feixu in disbelief, “Ye Mingxin, you’re even stingier than I am.”
Ye Mingxin: “…???”
“Those rings were originally mine, and so are you. How is this a gift? At least I spent some money on that rose. This is just you expecting to get something for nothing!”
The romantic atmosphere immediately shattered.
Ye Mingxin felt the urge to strangle someone again, but this time it was Han Feixu she wanted to strangle.
She rubbed her temples, “Han Feixu, for once, can you focus on what truly matters?”
Han Feixu didn’t understand what she meant, “What truly matters?”
“I’m asking you to marry me again!”
Ye Mingxin, unable to take it anymore, blurted out this sentence. Seeing Han Feixu’s stunned expression, she realized what she had said and fell silent, “Someday, you’ll be the death of me.”
Han Feixu blinked and removed a ring from the box. She couldn’t tell which one was hers, so she just blindly picked one and put it on. While examining the other ring, she said, “Well, they say marriage is all about partners being more tolerant of one another.”
“Here,” she offered the other ring to Ye Mingxin, “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have ruined your carefully planned dinner. You know my flaws; I’m a mood-killer with a short attention span, always missing the point, and inadvertently angering people. Ms. Ye Mingxin, please be generous and marry me.”
Ye Mingxin wanted to say how unrelated those two statements were, and how could someone propose so casually?
However, looking into Han Feixu’s clear gaze, she found she couldn’t say another word. Instead, she extended her hand, and Han Feixu, beaming, slipped the ring on her finger. The rings perfectly fit on their fingers. Han Feixu grabbed her hand and gently shook their hands, the rings’ radiance captivating one’s gaze.
Tears were about to fall out of Ye Mingxin’s eyes when Han Feixu said heartlessly, “Let’s take a photo and post it on social media!”
Ye Mingxin:”….”
After a brief silence, she resignedly smiled, but did not let go of Han Feixu’s hand. She stood up, walked over, and cupped Han Feixu’s face, making her look up.
Ye Mingxin looked deeply into her eyes, “Please, I’m really happy right now, so don’t ruin the mood again.”
Without giving Han Feixu a chance to respond, she leaned in for a kiss. After pulling back slightly, she gently wiped Han Feixu’s lips with a soft caress and asked, “March 14th is our anniversary. Let’s have a wedding and invite all our friends and family, okay?”
Dazed by the kiss, Han Feixu blinked for a long time before asking, “Can I wear a wedding dress?”
“You can wear anything, even nothing but sand if you want to.”
“Can Shen Sangluo be my maid of honor?”
“I would agree even if you wanted Mingde to be your maid of honor.”
“Can we have our honeymoon in Greece? I’ve always wanted to see Santorini and the Aegean Sea.”
“You’ve seen it before… but we can go again, and stay even longer this time.”
“Can we invite my aunt?”
“Of course, we’ve given her wedding money three times already. Now, it’s her turn.”
Ye Mingxin pinched her face, “Any more questions, my bride?”
“Yes, yes,” Han Feixu nodded eagerly, ”One last question.”
“What is it?”
Han Feixu looked at her seriously, “I heard couples should sleep separately before the wedding, or they’ll invite bad luck. Should we start sleeping separately from tonight onwards?”
“…There’s no need!”
