Ye Mingxin couldn’t help but take a few looks at Han Feixu sitting in the driver’s seat after so long.

Han Feixu noticed her gaze and turned to smile at Ye Mingxin.

Ye Mingxin: “…”

Her wife had suddenly returned, but she was still a bit unaccustomed to it.

They were headed towards Haidian District and stopped by a McDonald’s along the way. Han Feixu ordered four Sausage McMuffin with Egg meals.

Ye Mingxin: “….”

Holding the McDonald’s bag, her lips couldn’t help but twitch, “You are definitely the first to bring fast food to see your parents.”

“Whatever is available is what you eat. That is what my mom has always taught me. Besides, we’re all family here, so there’s no need for formalities.”

Han Feixu finished and then started the car again, quickly leaving the drive-thru.

It was a workday morning, and the cemetery felt colder than most places. During the summer it was cool and comfortable, but it was a bit chilly in winter. Han Feixu and Ye Mingxin walked up to her parents’ graves, where there was a bunch of withered flowers, presumably left by someone else.

Han Feixu squatted down, gently wiping the dust off the tombstone, murmuring, “No matter how many years pass, there will always be people who remember my mom. There will always be someone who comes to visit her from time to time.”

Ye Mingxin also approached, her eyes downcast, and about to offer comfort when she heard Han Feixu change the topic, “As the saying goes, ‘comparison is the thief of joy’. They’re buried in the same place yet so few come to visit my dad. He must be furious now. He couldn’t outdo my mom in life, and even in death, he’s still outdone.” (T/N: ??????????? Direct translation would be “Comparing people lead to death, comparing goods lead to them being thrown away”. Same idea, that comparison leads to envy/dissatisfaction.)

“…..Your father never cared for such things.”

As Han Feixu took a thick coat from the car, she couldn’t help but laugh shamelessly, “Please, my dad valued his reputation as much as his integrity, they were both things he could not do without.”

A long time ago, Han Feixu used to tease her father like this, but she hadn’t done so since his passing, let alone show a genuine smile in front of their tombstones.

Ye Mingxin sat on the blanket, and couldn’t help laughing along. Her gaze was affectionate as she looked at Han Feixu as if she was looking at her whole world.

But Han Feixu didn’t notice, as she was busy dividing the burgers and coffee – two coffees for them and two soy milks for their parents. After rummaging through the bag, she looked up to ask Ye Mingxin, “Do you want hash browns or the fried dough sticks?”

“…Either is fine.”

Only Han Feixu would have breakfast in the cemetery so early in the morning. The sky was cloudy, the air foggy, and the surroundings eerily quiet, occasionally disturbed by a passing crow. The vast cemetery was almost devoid of people, filled only with silent tombstones. Such a chilling scene should have been unnerving, but Han Feixu and Ye Mingxin were at ease.

After all, they were sitting beside Han Feixu’s parents, who had always loved them the most no matter what.

After cleaning up, Han Feixu hugged her knees and finally spoke to the tombstones, “Dad, Mom, we’ve made up.”

Ye Mingxin, who had been staring ahead, turned to Han Feixu at her words.

“Not only have we made up, we’re finally having a wedding ceremony. It’s on the 14th, which is also your granddaughter’s birthday. She’s turning five soon. Kids grow up so fast. She was much shorter than your tombstone last year when I brought her here. Now, she’s already up to my waist, and she’s going to grow up to be a tall girl with long legs.”

Han Feixu spoke whatever came to mind. It had been half a year since her last visit, and she covered everything from TV dramas to endorsements and from endorsements to Chloe. It was only after she had finished speaking that she realized how fulfilling her past year had been.

She smiled at the tombstones as if she had finally returned home after a long journey, “Anyway, we won’t argue anymore, and I won’t be as willful, so you can rest easy. Oh, and Mom, stop bullying Dad. Harmony brings prosperity after all.”

Toward the end, Han Feixu felt a bit teary, not because she missed her parents or felt sad, but because she was moved by how far she had come. From a naive girl to her current self, she had been through so much and grown up along the way. Thankfully, she had found her happy ending.

She bowed her head in silence when a pair of warm hands enveloped hers. Han Feixu looked up, startled, “Why are you crying?”

She wasn’t even crying, so why was Ye Mingxin crying?

Ye Mingxin lowered her gaze, blinking away tears before looking up again as she gently rubbed Han Feixu’s palms, “I’m happy for you.”

Ye Mingxin’s voice was soft, and Han Feixu remained silent for a long time. There they sat, holding hands and sitting face to face.

Han Feixu smiled slightly, “Tell me the truth, which version of me do you prefer? The sixteen-year-old or the twenty-six-year-old me?”

Ye Mingxin responded quickly, “Both.”

“No, you have to choose one.”

After a pause, Ye Mingxin repeated, “Both. The sixteen-year-old you belonged to me, and so does the twenty-six-year-old you. No matter which version, they are both you, so I like them both.”

Han Feixu tried to keep a straight face but eventually laughed, playfully scolding, “You sweet talker.”

After looking at her parent’s photo for a while, Han Feixu moved closer to Ye Mingxin. Their hands clasped even tighter, and she softly said, “From now on… I’ll be good to you. I won’t make you sad anymore.”

Ye Mingxin’s voice tightened, “En, me too.”

Although they were having a wedding ceremony, it wasn’t a very big one. They invited only close friends and family, for a total of less than a hundred people. Han Feixu sat in her bridal dressing room, dressed in her wedding gown and with her makeup done. Han Anni and Chloe stood by her side, with Chloe teaching her how to smile in order to get the best-looking photos.

Han Feixu’s face was stiff from smiling so much, but Chloe was only satisfied after achieving what she thought was the perfect smile. Zhong Yuanyuan brought the bouquet over to her.

Holding the bouquet, and knowing it was almost time, Han Feixu couldn’t help but feel nervous. Han Anni noticed and comforted her with a smile.

They chose this hotel for its large venue and it was big enough to lay out not just one, but two red carpets. Standing in the aisle were Yiyi and Ye Pinlan, the latter leading Yiyi, who was holding a basket full of petals. Ye Pinlan guided Yiyi forward as she scattered colorful petals in the air.

After Yiyi passed, Han Feixu and Ye Mingxin slowly made their entrance.

As the wedding march began and the lights dimmed, with the spotlight shining down on the brides, Yan Yuerong found herself in tears.

Ye MingDe remarked, “….Mom, the emotional part hasn’t even started.”

Yan Yuerong slapped him lightly, “You brat, I’ll cry whenever I want!”

Ye MingDe: “…..”

You shouldn’t take out your anger on me just because you lost at rock-paper-scissors and couldn’t walk my sister down the aisle!

As the brides made it to the front, Han Anni and Ye Junyuan discreetly left the scene. Han Feixu and Ye Mingxin, stood together, looking at each other before turning to Liang Zhu

Liang Zhu never imagined she’d host a wedding in this lifetime. She was so excited she could barely speak. After calming down, she recited the lines she had practiced countless times. To make this wedding perfect, she had researched extensively.

“Love is patient, love is kind. Love is never jealous, boastful, or proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, and never easily angered. Love does not keep a record of wrongs. It does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails and it never ends. Ye Mingxin, do you promise to love your wife forever, so long as you both shall live?”

Since they were both already married, Liang Zhu slightly modified the traditional vows and quoted a passage from the Bible that fit the occasion perfectly.

Ye Mingxin looked at Han Feixu. Today was Han Feixu’s most beautiful day, and it was also her most beautiful day.

She nodded gently, and said in a solemn, though not loud, voice, “I do.”

Liang Zhu couldn’t hold back her smile and paused for a moment before remembering her role, as she asked Han Feixu the same question. Han Feixu had long forgotten the perfect smile Chole taught her, but the smile she made was the most genuine, “I do.”

Liang Zhu felt tears welling up. It was such a difficult journey. Just as she was sighing, Ye Mingxin leaned in and kissed Han Feixu in front of everyone. Liang Zhu opened her mouth to say it wasn’t time for that yet, but the applause had already begun.

Liang Shuluo paused. Ah, what the hell.

She started clapping along with the crowd and gave her blessings to the happy couple.

After the wedding came the reception, but the “newlyweds” didn’t come back out for the toasts as they’d already run off with their five-year-old daughter.

Yan Yuerong and the others stayed at the hotel for a while to look after the guests, but less than an hour later, they couldn’t bear it anymore and left as well.

Lan Zhu nudged Zhong Yuanyuan, “Yuanyuan…”

Zhong Yuanyuan glared back, “No! There are hardly any people left, if you go too, who will take care of all these guests?!”

Lan Zhu: “….” But I really want to go celebrate Yiyi’s birthday with everyone else QAQ

This time the party was attended by both of Yiyi’s mothers and both of them wore stunning outfits. Even the children who came to the birthday party were stunned by their beauty and some would even turn back to look at their own mothers.

The other mothers being looked at: “…”

What are you looking at? You want a pretty mom? Well, I want a pretty daughter. Look at Yiyi, then look at yourself!

Regardless of the tensions between the guests at the party, the rest of Yiyi’s birthday party was perfect. The little boy whose pants she had pulled down last year came as well. At the time, it was Ye Mingxin who had taken Yiyi to apologize so Han Feixu had not seen the boy in person. She had only seen his crying visage on video. Seeing him in person now, Han Feixu realized that this little boy was quite handsome. Very milky and cute.

Han Feixu watched asYiyi interacted with the boy. Yiyi was like a big sister, patting his head now and then. The boy didn’t seem to like being treated this way by Yiyi but couldn’t resist her charms either, so he could only sulkily bear it.

He gave his gift to Yiyi, who smiled and thanked him. The boy’s face immediately turned red and he shyly looked away and towards his mother, only to see her smiling encouragingly at him.

With renewed spirit, the boy said to Yiyi, “H-happy birthday.”

The eavesdropping Han Feixu: “……”

Unlike children in China who would politely save opening gifts until after the guests left, Yiyi tore open the gift box right away. Seeing a whole set of little white rabbit toys inside, she widened her eyes. The boy was still shy as she stammered, “I-I asked my dad to help me buy it, but it was with my Lunar New Year’s money so it’s not my dad’s money!”

Initially, Yiyi had given him only three in apology but he returned it with a full new set of six. The old set of little white rabbits was a gift from Yu Tingxue, and Han Feixu was there when Yiyi received it. So she knew that the decorations were not cheap and very hard to get. She hadn’t expected the little boy to be so thoughtful.

Yiyi smiled happily and excitedly threw the box to the side as she gave the boy a big hug. The poor little boy was already stiff enough with nervousness when she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

The poor boy didn’t dare move a single muscle.

Han Feixu raised an eyebrow. Ye Mingxin, who had just finished chatting with another parent, walked over and looked at her in confusion, “What’s the matter?”

Han Feixu smiled with an unreadable expression, “Our daughter is a natural disaster.”

Ye Mingxin: “….”

At 8 p.m., they boarded a flight to Greece. The private plane was much better equipped than commercial flights. Han Feixu, half-reclined on a couch, sighed, “I wish I hadn’t booked the honeymoon suite in Greece. I’d rather go to Tahiti since we’ve been to Greece before.”

Ye Mingxin carried two hot drinks in her hands and handed one to Han Feixu as she sat down beside her. Han Feixu straightened up, accepted the drink, and then immediately leaned back against Ye Mingxin.

“We can go in June. It’ll be hotter then, so it’ll be good for a summer vacation and we can even take Yiyi with us.”

Han Feixu took a sip of her drink and nodded. Suddenly, she sat up straight.

Ye Mingxin looked at her, and Han Feixu smiled, “Do you know why I chose to have Yiyi on March 14th?”

Yiyi was born by cesarean section, so the date was entirely up to Han Feixu. If she wanted to, she could have even moved Yiyi’s birthday to March 15th, aka International Consumers’ Rights Day.

Ye Mingxin looked at her calmly, “I do know. You wanted to use Yiyi’s birthday to overshadow our wedding anniversary. That way, every March 14th, you wouldn’t have to remember it as the day we got married but as the day our daughter was born instead.”

Han Feixu never told her any of this, but Ye Mingxin was able to guess it all by herself. Han Feixu lowered her head and chuckled, raising her head to look at Ye Mingxin intensely, “But it’s different now.”

She smiled and said, “Now March 14th is the most important day in my life. It is the day the heavens gave me love. I love you and I love Yiyi. Thank you for coming into my life on this day.”

Ye Mingxin looked at her bright red lips. She leaned over and kissed her, “If you want to thank me then don’t ever leave me again.”

Han Feixu put her arms around her neck and said with a smile, “I won’t leave, even if you try to drive me away.”
