If I Have You, What More Could I Ask For In This Life? - Chapter 3.1
Translated by: Cherry
Yisheng brought her father to stay in a small hotel. The two of them tidied up their luggage separately. Yisheng took some clothes and passed them to her father, saying, “Dad, why don’t you take a bath?”
Ye Tianming held onto Yisheng’s hand, his tone serious as he said, “I asked your Uncle Song to help me buy back our original house. As for the money, we’ll have to owe your Uncle Song first, and in the future, we can pay the money back together. What do you think?”
Yisheng pulled her hand away, turning around to busy herself with the bedsheets, “Dad, do you think there’s still a need to remain in this city?”
“Of course there’s a need. Although this is a small city with little room to progress, this is still the place that your mom and I met and fell in love in, the place where we had Yisheng. If it was not for my momentary foolishness, we wouldn’t have…” Ye Tianming thought about how his family had broken apart after the corruption case. He sighed loudly, lowering his head even more.
Yisheng walked up to him, hugging her father from behind. “Don’t think about matters from the past anymore. These six years, this daughter has been unfilial, and I’ve not gone to see you at all. I blamed you for a long time, but after that, I thought it through and understood that Dad did it because of Mom’s illness.”
“Ha!” Ye Tianming thought about the absurd mistakes he had made and could not help but smile, “Yisheng ah, do you not want to stay here?”
“Yes, I don’t,” There were too many cruel memories here. She could not be at ease, “If Dad wants to stay here, you can stay here. I’ll go to B City, which’s a prefecture-level city, and it’s easier to find a job there than in this less-developed city. Furthermore, it’s only a two-hour ride from here.”
“You’ll be there without anyone to rely on, will you be alright?” Ye Tianming was a little worried.
Yisheng comforted him, “I have a senior there, he’s very caring and takes care of me. He helped me get an internship at the hospital he’s currently at using his connections. If I do well, I can become an official employee there.”
Ye Tianming felt more at ease and patted Yisheng’s hand. Her hands were no longer as soft and delicate as before. He felt his heartache, “Be down to earth and work hard, don’t become like me.”
“Don’t worry,” Yisheng buried her face into Ye Tianming’s back, closing her eyes slightly. Her future was too hazy, she could not see the other side and could only hold onto a blind belief.
As long as she was alive, it would be alright.

Song Zheng was competent, and in less than three days, he managed to repurchase Yisheng’s old house. Even Song Zheng himself smiled and said, “The owner of that house is very nice. He agreed to you paying seven years of installments. I’ve really not met such a nice person before.”
Ye Tianming saw that the house was the same as it was six years ago and also smiled. “The person that bought the house seems to have bought it just for their collection. They did not live in it or touch it, it has not changed at all.”
Song Zheng smiled and said, “Then isn’t that even better? They helped you take care of the house for six years.”
Ye Tianming happily smiled. Yisheng who was also in their old house looked around at the house she had once lived in. In this house, many things had happened, and every single thing was deeply engraved in her mind.
The birthday party that time, the embarrassing event, the pure and exaggerated behavior of her youth. Now, when she thought back to it, there was a feeling of regret that could not be put into words. Those times, were truly the years that she was the most carefree and had the least worries.
In the few years that her father had been reformed in prison, he had become very easy going. The house was barely renovated, and besides changing some of the furniture, there were barely any other changes made. They managed to move back to their original place in the shortest time possible, and this was not what Yisheng had expected at all.
The first night they moved back to their old house, she received a message. It was Song Anchen. He said, “Have you slept yet?”
Yisheng replied, “No, I’m lying on the bed now.”
After that, Song Anchen called her. She hesitated a little as she picked up the phone, her voice was slightly unnatural as she said, “Hello.”
“It’s already 1 a.m. now, you haven’t slept yet?” There was a questioning voice coming from Song Anchen. Yisheng blinked her eyes, her brain seemed to have stopped working. She could sleep whenever she wanted, what did it have to do with him? Also, did he call her just to ask this?
“I wanted to sleep, but I was woken up by the notification sound from a certain message,” Yisheng’s tone suddenly became rude. On the other end of the call, Song Anchen did not speak for a long while. After a few seconds, he said, “Good night, Yisheng.”
Yisheng moved her lips but did not answer. She did not hang up, and the other party did not hand up either. However, the two of them did not speak again and they just awkwardly stayed in silence. Yisheng took a deep breath and hung up the phone. She closed her eyes and curled up on the bed.
She could not let herself overthink things, she kept reminding herself. Six years ago, she realized a fact. Song Anchen’s feelings towards her were only that of pure childhood friends, he did not like her in that way at all.
After Yisheng helped her father settle down, she wanted to go to B City to look for her senior. Ye Tianming was a little worried and wanted to send her there, but she rejected his offer. She was no longer the pampered princess she had been. The few years of suffering outside had caused her to become more street smart. She did not deal with things like she had in the past. When Yisheng’s father saw how composed Yisheng was, he felt at ease and let her be.
Yisheng carried the luggage she had brought back with her from her Northern school and walked to the train station. She bought a train ticket and got onto the train headed towards B City. She thought that she could rid herself of this city and move on from those messy things that had occurred six years ago.
T/N: So this chapter is a lot shorter, and it’ll be finished in two small parts instead of three! Sorry for breaking my promise to upload every day for the time being and not uploading yesterday… But here’s two chapters as an apology!
