I’ll Be the Male Lead’s Sister-in-Law - Chapter 573
Mu Mingtang felt embarrassed, leading her to swiftly change the topic, “Was it really Madam Yin who called you just now?”
After Mu Mingtang finished speaking, Xie Xuanchen looked at her very seriously. Panicked by his gaze, the girl asked calmly, “What’s wrong?”
“How can there be someone as gullible as you in this world?” Xie Xuanchen ruffled Mu Mingtang’s hair with force, seemingly at a loss for words, “You really are too easy to fool considering how you take my words so seriously..”
Mu Mingtang was surprised, “Then what did you come back for?”
He couldn’t really say a lot in regards to this as well. He didn’t know why, but class was just too boring for him, so he decided to skip it altogether as planned. But once he scaled the walls, he thought about the fact that Mu Mingtang would have packed up and left by the time he was returning. If so, he wouldn’t be able to see her for another afternoon.
Xie Xuanchen climbed onto the wall from the other side once again. The servants of the Xie Residence watched the second son of the Xie family go round in circles on the wall, contemplating on what to do.
Despite his attempts at delaying Mu Mingtang, the girl ended up getting on her carriage and headed home in the end. Going back home, Xie Xuanchen felt extremely dissatisfied. After thinking about it for a moment, he decided to seek out Madam Yin instead.
Madam Yin didn’t know that she had taken on the blame for her son playing hooky during class. When Xie Xuanchen had approached her, proactively deciding to have his martial arts classes held in the residence, she was truly overcome with surprise as well.
The sun was rising from the west now, wasn’t it? When did Xie Xuanchen become so sensible and motivated?
However, it was a good thing that her son was becoming sensible. Madam Yin immediately arranged a venue and a master for him to attend his lessons. Naturally, the other three children also had an extra afternoon class in said skills.
Mu Mingtang was truly impressed. Wanting her to go back to school and learn (despite being an adult mentally) was one thing, but why did they need her to pick up equestrian studies and archery as well? She went through so much to be reincarnated and all she wanted was more time to accompany her parents— was even that too much to ask for?
At any rate, the Xie family added martial arts classes in the afternoon for the four children. At this time, the gap between their education and martial abilities was revealed. Xie Xuanji suddenly plummeted to the same starting line as Mu Mingtang and Jiang Mingwei, though the former was still somewhat better. Although she had poor athletic ability, the Mu family was rich. Her parents were very concerned about their daughter’s education, so when they heard that Mu Mingtang wanted to learn horse riding, they immediately bought her a full set of riding outfits and saddles. Plus, they also gifted her a docile mare to start out with.
The financial resources of Xie Xuanji and Jiang Mingwei’s families obviously could not keep up with that.
Mu Mingtang sat on her mare and moved forward carefully. Xie Xuanchen rode his horse to catch up from behind. Even so, he felt uncomfortable watching her riding speed.
“You’re going at a speed that’s worse than walking,” Xie Xuanchen was very disgusted as he stretched out his hand to her and said, “Come, give me your hand, I’ll pull you along.”
“No,” Mu Mingtang refused angrily, “Can’t you just let me trot slowly? When did I ever say I wanted to ride fast?”
