Xie Xuanchen was really surprised. He went to Madam Yin’s place and heard his parents talking, “…Your Second Brother and his wife came to me yesterday and talked about their lives here. Although they had no worries about food and clothing, they couldn’t do without income. They asked me to ask the General if there was any suitable position recommended to your Second Brother.”

Xie Yi thought for a while and said, “I remember that he was in charge of records and transcription. It happened that a transcriptionist in the Guanglu Temple has left. I’ll head over to put in a good word for him and recommend him for the job.”

Xie Xuanchen heard the discussion from outside the partition and raised his eyebrows in surprise.

The Guanglu Temple was responsible for sacrifices and the supply of wine and food. Thus, there was no real power. The transcriptionists of the Guanglu Temple copied recipes, purchases and every transaction made with money.  They were busy all day long and had little use, which would lead to a muddled but bearable lifestyle, though not basked in luxury. Xie Xuanchen thought that Xie Yi would place Xie Rui’s family in the confidential department.

At the very least, he thought that they would have some form of real power and benefits. Being a clerk in the Guanglu Temple, one wouldn’t starve to death, but that was probably the highest achievement one could get with such a rank.

Madam Yin did not make any comment on this. At this time, the people in the room found that Xie Xuanchen had come. Madam Yin greeted Xie Xuanchen with surprise, “Xuanchen, you are here?”

Xie Xuanchen walked in and greeted Xie Yi and Madam Yin, “Father, Mother.”

Madam Yin was very pleased to see her son coming to greet her, “Why did you think of me all of a sudden? Sir Zhao from the school said that you have been very diligent recently and have been attending classes every day. Whose advice did you listen to? Why are you being so motivated all of a sudden?”

Xie Xuanchen said vaguely, “Nothing much, I just feel too lazy to go out recently.”

Xie Yi suddenly remembered something when he heard what Madam Yin said, “The Sun family came to me two days ago and said that you had a conflict with their Young Master. What happened?”

Xie Xuanchen looked at Xie Yi unexpectedly again. He thought that the Sun family had not said anything yet. It turned out that Xie Yi already knew about it?

Was Xie Yi really possessed? This was the first time he hadn’t barged in the first instant to give him a fierce scolding.

Madam Yin heard about the conflict between Xie Xuanchen and the youngest son of the Sun family, so she asked with concern, “What happened?”

Xie Xuanchen didn’t care much about it and explained with a few words, “Nothing much, he stopped Mingtang’s carriage while she was on the road and spewed a slur of foul insults. All I did was give him a good beating.”

After saying this, Madam Yin also remembered, “Was it the time when Mingtang went home early?”

“Yes, I sent her back then.”

Madam Yin’s mind was occupied by the Sun family’s guts to bully Mingtang, so she failed to notice that her son’s behavior was very abnormal as well. She frowned, anger palpable on her face, “It’s too much. Mingtang was taken in by me. If she were to encounter problems on the way to school, how am I to explain myself to her parents?”
