Gayle told Liz Cather that he needed to calm down for a while and left the school, leaving her looking apologetic and downcast the whole time. 

She probably thought she was helping them, but she ended up hurting them.

There was nothing more we could do. The rest is up to them. Just breaking Liz Cather’s spell was an accomplishment.

With these thoughts in mind, I returned to the royal palace with Duke.

I missed Gramps, who had been living in the castle with the king since then. He will become the king soon. The king was about to hand over the throne to Gramps, and everything was being prepared for him.

The heads of the five noble families were not against it. However, I believe there is a mastermind among the five noble families. If the king’s mother was still alive, someone powerful had to be on her side.

If they objected to Gramps becoming king here, it would look suspicious, so I guess they agreed to it.

“Brother! Are you alright?”

The king’s voice, filled with surprise and impatience, echoed in my ears. I run down the well-polished corridor toward the voice.

I sneak a peek at them. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Gramps lying on the ground with blood around his mouth and on his hands. Next to him, a pale-faced king was trying to support Gramps.

…Vomiting blood?

“Brother!”

“I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

“But this is…”

“It’s my body. I understand it better than anyone.”

I was so terrified that I couldn’t move an inch. I couldn’t even speak.

I was terrified that Gramps might disappear. I could do nothing but watch the situation in front of me.

“Let’s get him to a doctor.”

Gramps shook his head at the king’s words.

“It’s too late. Medicine can’t cure me any more.”

I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t believe what was happening in front of me. I could feel my breathing becoming disordered.

“Who’s there?”

The king’s low voice makes me gasp. I quietly slipped away from the room.

A few moments later, I was running, running fast, running wildly. I just wanted to get away from there.

Please don’t take away my precious person! I shouted in my heart.

I couldn’t sleep for the rest of the day.

I didn’t want to think of Gramps disappearing from this world. But I should not be so weak.

Alicia would get angry with me. I had to face the reality.

I needed to know what Gramps was going through, and I needed to help them as much as I could.

Perhaps I was mistaken, and it was just bleeding from exhaustion.

I just connected it with death on my own. I would never know the truth until I asked Gramps.

I made up my mind and went to Gramps’ room.

The air was a little cool. The sun was just beginning to rise, and vermilion light drifted in the lead-white air.

It was such a beautiful morning, but my heart was heavy.
