[Vol. 2] Chapter 28: The Overlapping Figures

In the small cabin, Lily was lying on the bed, looking satisfied, muttering something at the corner of her mouth. Bailian sat beside her, occasionally poking Lily.

Xueluo curiously picked up a book from the shelf. Judging by the material and texture, these books seemed to be quite old.

Finding a quieter corner, Xueluo started reading the book in hand. Opening the first page, Xueluo froze because she couldn’t understand any of the characters written on it.

It seemed that these books were not only old but possibly even older than imagined. But what method could have been used to preserve these books so well?

Xueluo tightened her grip on the book in her hand. Since the possibility of a key was ruled out, it must be some kind of mechanism. Let me see, where could it be?

Carefully observing her surroundings, Xueluo didn’t notice anything strange. She sighed and prepared to put the book back.

At that moment, Xueluo noticed something odd about the bookshelf. The order of the books seemed to be disrupted. Could it be that arranging them properly would open the door?

But there was a big problem, she didn’t know the original order of the books. As Xueluo pondered this, a voice interrupted her thoughts.

“Xueluo, I’ve missed you so much.”

Xia Qiuxue’s voice suddenly rang out. It was evident she was very excited because after a day’s separation, she and Xueluo were finally reunited.

“Qiuxue, we’ve only been apart for a day,” Xueluo said, putting the book back on the shelf. They could figure out the mechanism later; there was no rush.

“Hasn’t little Xueluo heard the saying, ‘A day without seeing you is like three autumns’?” Xia Qiuxue teased.

Xueluo sighed, realizing that Qiuxue had caught on to her playful nature.

“I didn’t expect there to be such a place outside the city, it’s really unexpected.”

Yinya was very interested in the small secret room, but more than that, she was curious about the eerie painting outside. What could that painting be about?

It looked like childish doodles, but Yinya didn’t think so because how could a child draw so many doodles on a tall wall?

“We didn’t expect there would be such a place, we owe it to Sister Yinyue for bringing us here,” Xueluo explained roughly.

It was under Yinyue’s guidance that they were able to come here as a group.

“So you mean, Yinyue brought you here?” Yinya found it somewhat unbelievable.

How did Yinyue find such a place? If it weren’t for the markings along the way guiding them, they would probably have difficulty finding this place.

“Yes,” Xueluo replied.

“Then where is she?” Yinya just noticed that Yinyue seemed to be missing and asked Xueluo.

“Oh, she’s… uh, in the bathroom,” Xueluo replied, looking towards the bathroom.

“I see. And what about Yuluo?” Yinya asked again.

“She… uh… she’s also in the bathroom,” Xueluo said somewhat embarrassedly.

With that said, everyone fell silent. Xia Qiuxue looked at Lily on the bed. No wonder she looked so satisfied, now it made sense.

Yinya also noticed the cream on the floor. She didn’t expect that after just one day of separation, their games would become so… intimate.

“Miss Yinya, are you okay?” Xueluo felt very puzzled by Yinya’s expression.

“Has Miss Yinya returned?” Yinyue’s voice sounded.

Two girls walked out of the bathroom, still holding hands, indicating a relationship beyond ordinary.

“Yes, it took some time to investigate something,” Yinya said.

“Can you tell us what Miss Yinya was investigating?” Yinyue asked.

Yinya initially wanted to refuse, but seeing Yinyue’s gaze, she couldn’t help but remember her own little brat at home. He used to look at her like that too.

Back then, she had just returned home not long ago, and the higher-ups assigned a mission to her again. Helplessly, she had to pack her things and prepare to go out for another mission.

When she reached the doorstep, that little brat caught up and asked where she was going. She didn’t want to worry him, so she didn’t tell him and chose to carry out the mission alone.

“Did you make these yourself, Miss Yinya?” Yinyue asked.

“I just guessed randomly, I didn’t expect to be right,” Yinyue shrugged. How could Yinyue not know? Of course, she knows her mother’s nature very well.

‘Was it really just a guess?’ Yinya wondered inwardly.

For some reason, she felt that Yinyue’s figure seemed to overlap with her own little brat’s.
