[Vol. 2] Chapter 43: Playing the Pig to Eat the Tiger

At ten in the morning, Yinyue and her group were packing their things, as they were about to start their mission.

Being able to hide under the noses of the Ability User Association for so many years, this organization must be extraordinary, perhaps even backed by a powerful force.

To prevent everyone from being recognized, Yuluo made simple cat masks for the others. These masks had a time limit, but one day’s worth of use was sufficient.

“Is everyone ready? We need to get going,” Yinya asked the girls.

“We’re almost ready, Miss Yinya,” Yinyue replied slowly.

“Ahem, very well then, let me explain the plan to everyone.”

Yinya spent some time explaining the plan to everyone. Of course, the plan wasn’t devised by Yinya herself.

After all, Yinya was the kind of person who liked to grab a big hammer and directly confront others in a fight.

This plan was actually devised by Yinya’s assistant. Yinya admitted that when it comes to using one’s brain, she relied on her dear little assistant.

Besides Lily and Xueluo, who had no combat abilities and stayed home, the others all participated in this mission.

Yinya then distributed communication devices to everyone, marking the beginning of the mission.

In Huihuang City, the streets were as bustling as ever today.

Yinya held Bailian’s hand, and the two walked down the street nonchalantly, looking like sisters.

However, they did not attract much attention from the surrounding crowd, mainly because Yinya had altered her appearance.

As for Bailian, most people chose to stay away from her due to her deathly pale complexion.

After a few minutes, Yinya sensed that someone was deliberately following them, maintaining a certain distance, seemingly not wanting to alarm them.

However, what the followers didn’t realize was that the person beside Bailian was an S-class ability user, and their little maneuvers had long been detected by Yinya.

Yinya tightened her grip on Bailian’s hand. Since the opponents had already taken the bait, it was time to follow the plan. They needed to head to a less populated area to avoid involving bystanders as much as possible.

Although doing so might arouse the followers’ suspicion, their most valuable experiment was right in front of them. Even if they knew it was a trap, they would still choose to walk into it.

Yinya and Bailian continued weaving through the streets, with the followers closely trailing behind, afraid of losing their target.

“Miss Yinya, how are things?” came Lily’s voice over Yinya’s communicator.

“Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, there won’t be any unexpected incidents. Your sister will be fine.”

“…Then I’ll leave it to you, Miss Yinya. Please ensure Bailian’s safety.”

“Understood.”

After finishing her conversation with Lily, Yinya looked into the distance.

“It seems you have a sister who loves you very much.”

Bailian, whose hand Yinya was holding, remained expressionless, maintaining her usual cold demeanor.

As the two continued to walk forward, more and more people began to follow them, eventually forming a circle around them.

Yinya stopped because they had reached their destination, there was no need to go any further.

“For such an obvious trap, you all still chose to follow us?” Yinya taunted, making a provocative gesture toward the followers.

“Hahaha, what’s there to fear from a trap set by a few ants?” an elderly voice responded.

An old man holding a cane stepped out from the shadows of a building. Half of his body was made of metal, indicating some sort of modification.

He disregarded Yinya’s taunt and instead fixed his gaze on Bailian, as if admiring his own handiwork.

Indeed, Bailian’s current state was the result of his work.

Seeing his gaze on her, Bailian instinctively hid behind Yinya, her body trembling with fear.

“You bastards, why do you torment these orphans!” Yinya couldn’t help but curse as soon as she saw him.

“Torment? No, no, we are giving them new life. Rather than living an ordinary life, isn’t it better to gamble with their lives?”

He clearly didn’t care about Yinya’s words. To him, they were mere nonsense.

“I shouldn’t waste my breath on you,” Yinya said, swinging her large hammer toward him.

At this moment, a massive figure blocked the elder. Although Yinya’s attack sent him flying, he got up as if nothing had happened.

“Ahem, young lady, you are quite impolite. Let me introduce myself. My name is Cheng Xiuwen, but you can call me Dr. Cheng.”

Dr. Cheng stood up from the smoke and took a few steps forward with his cane.

The person who had been knocked away by Yinya returned to Dr. Cheng’s side. Dr. Cheng patted the large figure.

“As for him, he’s also my creation. You can call him Number Fifty-Three. And the little one behind you is Number Seventeen,” Dr. Cheng said with a smile, clearly proud of his creations.

“Shut your filthy mouth,” Yinya retorted.

She attacked again, but her assault seemed ineffective against the large figure before her.

“I forgot to tell you, Number Fifty-Three’s ability is to be immune to all physical attacks.”

“……” Yinya stopped her attack and raised her hands.

“Not fighting, not fighting. I can’t win anyway. I choose to surrender,” she declared.

This move left everyone present stunned. They had expected her to fight to the end, but instead, she raised the white flag in the next moment.

“A wise choice. Number Fifty-Three, put the handcuffs on her.”

Though Dr. Cheng was somewhat suspicious, he still ordered Number Fifty-Three to handcuff her.

Number Fifty-Three took out the handcuffs designed for ability users and put them on Yinya. She cooperated fully, without any resistance.

“Number Seventeen, be good and come back with us,” Dr. Cheng said to Bailian.

Bailian nodded and then walked over to Dr. Cheng’s side.

Dr. Cheng’s lips curled into a smile. His most outstanding creation had finally returned to his side. Judging by the time, the other ants should have been captured by now.

Things had gone unexpectedly smoothly today, and they had gained a few more experimental subjects. Was this the divine blessing often spoken of by the Séance Society’s cult?

However, Dr. Cheng still attributed it to Yinya and her group’s overestimation of themselves. Acting so rashly without understanding the situation was truly reckless.

“Alright, let’s go back,” he said as several vehicles arrived. Dr. Cheng boarded one of them with his most prized creation.

“Hey, can you be a bit gentler?” Yinya was thrown into the back of one of the vehicles, and the door was tightly shut.

“Miss Yinya, you’re here too,” said Xia Qiuxue, who was beside her.

“Of course, for this act, I had to go along with it,” Yinya said with some dissatisfaction. If it weren’t for the need to destroy the enemy’s base, she would have started a massacre long ago.

“So, the first step of the plan is complete,” Yuluo said from the side.

Yinyue sat expressionlessly in a corner, looking like a different person, silently observing.

On Dr. Cheng’s side, he was happily basking in the joy of recovering his creation. But inside the vehicle, unbeknownst to him, someone else was quietly rejoicing.

Behind Dr. Cheng, Bailian seemed to be sneaking a smile.
