I'm Not the Young Lady's Dream Girl - [Vol. 2] Chapter 48
[Vol. 2] Chapter 48: Alarm Sounded
The Predator fixed its gaze on Yuluo, opening its mouth and lunging at her. Facing the attack, Yuluo immediately used her spatial abilities to evade.
The Predator crashed through the laboratory walls, creating a massive hole. When it turned back, the laboratory was already empty.
The Predator let out an enraged roar toward the sky. Mist began to spread rapidly around it, covering half the base in less than a minute.
“Miss, are you hurt?” Yinyue asked.
“I’m fine, but Lin Hongzhen managed to escape.”
In the brief moment of distraction, Yuluo had felt Lin Hongzhen’s presence vanish.
“Don’t blame yourself, Miss. At least we captured this old man,” Yinyue reassured her.
Turning around, Yinyue saw that Dr. Cheng’s limbs were already restrained, and Dawn was carrying him.
“Yes, but now we have a bigger problem. That supernatural beast is very difficult to handle.”
But why could Lin Hongzhen summon an S-class supernatural beast? And it seemed to harbor great hostility and apprehension towards her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have managed to escape with Sister Yueyue and the others.
“Yinyue, there you are. Finally found you.”
A voice came from not far away, causing Yinyue and the others to stop.
“Miss Yinya?” Yinyue looked towards the source of the voice, and it was indeed Yinya.
“There’s no time to chat. The Predator has appeared here, and I need your help.”
“The Predator! You mean that supernatural beast is the Predator?” Yinyue exclaimed, her expression filled with surprise.
“Yes,” Yinya confirmed.
Yinyue felt a headache coming on. The Predator’s reputation was infamous—an existence akin to a natural disaster. She had initially thought it was just an ordinary S-class supernatural beast, intending to deal with it after reporting back to her mother.
Now, it seemed surviving this encounter was uncertain. Running away was not an option. If they ignored it, the entire city’s population would be doomed. Even if she and the young lady could escape, what would happen to her mother and Xueluo?
At this point, the only option was to hold it off and wait for nearby S-class fighters to come to their aid.
…………
Within Huihuang City, the residents wandering the streets suddenly felt a crushing pressure, as if an invisible giant stone was weighing them down.
The city’s alarm sounded, and members of the Supernatural Association appeared in the streets, drawing the attention and concern of the citizens. It was clear that something significant was happening.
In the dormitory of Huihuang Academy, Wang Shaojun was napping when the alarm woke him. He yawned and rubbed his eyes.
“What’s going on? Why is it so noisy outside?” Wang Shaojun asked.
“Wang Shaojun, something terrible has happened! Get out of bed quickly,” Xia Qi’er urged.
“Brother Xia, what’s going on? Why are you so panicked?” Wang Shaojun inquired.
“How can I not be panicked? An S-class supernatural beast has appeared in the city,” Xia Qi’er said urgently, preparing to pull Wang Shaojun out of bed without further ado.
“What? It’s just an S-class… Wait! An S-class supernatural beast is in the city?”
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Wang Shaojun quickly jumped out of bed and ran towards the door, still wrapped in his blanket.
“…Wow, this guy ran really fast,” Xia Qi’er thought to himself.
…………
Meanwhile, after handing over Dr. Cheng to Xia Qiuxue and the others, Yinya instructed them to leave immediately. The upcoming battle was beyond their capabilities.
Unbeknownst to them, the mist had already enveloped the entire base. If it continued to spread, the city would also be in danger.
“Be careful, don’t get separated. It’s dangerous in the mist,” Yinya warned Yinyue and the others as they moved through the fog.
“Understood, Miss Yinya,” Yinyue nodded, summoning a lightsaber and preparing for combat.
“By the way, Yinyue, who is this person with you?”
In the rush earlier, Yinya hadn’t had a chance to ask. Now seemed like a good time to inquire.
“I am Yuluo, Miss Yinya.”
Yuluo removed her mask, revealing her stunningly beautiful face.
“Huh, if it’s you, then who was the person who was with us before?”
Yinya was taken aback. If the person beside Yinyue was Yuluo, then who was the one who had been accompanying her earlier?
“Just consider it a friend of mine,” Yuluo replied, not revealing the true identity of the person.
Yinya didn’t press further, the priority was to deal with the troublesome creature.
“I still don’t understand how the Predator ended up here,” Yinya said, rubbing her head in confusion.
Yuluo thought for a moment and decided it would be best to explain everything to Miss Yinya once this was all over.
As they were talking, something seemed to be lurking in the mist, and gunshots and cries for help could be heard in the distance.
“It’s starting. Be ready and stay alert,” Yinya instructed.
The next second, a claw slashed toward them, but Yinya quickly smashed it with a hammer. Accompanied by the sound of bones breaking, the creature that had ambushed them was instantly killed.
“What was that?” Yuluo asked.
“It’s a mist beast released by the Predator. Its strength is roughly equivalent to a B-class supernatural beast.”
As soon as Yinya finished speaking, the mist beast dissolved into white mist and vanished.
“Everyone, be cautious. My actions just now might have attracted the Predator,” Yinya warned.
“Understood.”
The next moment, everyone felt as though something in the mist was staring at them, and the oppressive aura indicated that it was indeed the Predator.
Slowly approaching, the Predator opened its claws and lunged at the group when it reached an appropriate distance.
“Get out of the way!”
Yinya swung her hammer, clashing head-on with the Predator. In terms of strength, Yinya clearly had the upper hand. Though she managed to repel the Predator successfully, it was only temporary.
Next, the Predator would likely start concealing its presence, just as Yinya had anticipated.
Realizing that they weren’t easy prey to be easily killed, the Predator retracted its presence, seamlessly blending into the mist, waiting for an opportunity to strike.
“So what do we do now?”
The Predator didn’t continue its active attacks but kept releasing mist beasts to harass them. It was evident that it intended to drain their energy, eventually finishing them off in one fell swoop.
“I’ll handle this!”
Using her abilities, Yuluo generated a breeze around them, temporarily dispersing the mist. Yinyue and the others also spotted the Predator not far away.
Yinya grabbed her hammer and hurled it at the Predator. In response, the Predator opened its mouth and fired a devastating beam of light, shattering Yinya’s huge hammer on impact.
