I'm Not the Young Lady's Dream Girl - [Vol. 2] Chapter 51
[Vol. 2] Chapter 51: Evolution?
The predator’s movements began to slow down visibly, giving Yinyue the impression that it might be about to collapse.
“That shouldn’t be possible. Predators are supposed to be as catastrophic as natural disasters. Even with us and the dean here, it shouldn’t be this easy to handle,” Yinyue voiced her confusion, feeling that this predator’s strength didn’t match what she’d heard.
“You’re right. It hasn’t shown its true power yet,” Yinya replied.
Despite the torrential attacks, the predator stood firm, letting out a roar towards the sky.
As if responding to its roar, the sky above Huihuang City changed. The once bright blue sky turned red and purple, with the sound of thunder rumbling.
“What’s going on? Can it change the environment too?”
Yinyue was surprised by the sudden change in surroundings. Though she knew the young lady could also alter the environment, she had never seen it on such a large scale.
“Yes, every S-class supernatural beast has the ability to affect the environment, and some of the more powerful S-class supernatural beasts can even actively change it,” Yinya explained to Yinyue.
“But this doesn’t seem to be of much use, it just changed the environment a bit,” Yinyue said, barely finishing her sentence before several red and purple lightning bolts began to strike at them. At that moment, Yinyue wished she could slap herself for jinxing it.
Yuluo used her ability to form a protective shield, providing temporary safety for Yinyue and the others inside. However, it was clear the shield wouldn’t last long, and they needed to act quickly.
With the transformation of the entire area, the predator itself also underwent changes, its body doubling in size.
Purple crystals sprouted from its scales, its eyes turned purplish-red, and the pressure it emitted grew even more intense.
Many ordinary people collapsed, unable to withstand this pressure.
Members of the Ability Users Association were bustling around, but the absence of the branch president had plummeted their morale to the lowest point, and some had already deserted.
Though there were deserters, no one stood up to blame them.
After all, facing such a monster, what could they do? Even sacrificing their lives would only delay it by a second or two. What was the point of that?
It seemed more sensible to abandon their dignity and flee the city before the monster arrived. As for the consequences of fleeing, they didn’t care.
Huihuang City had turned into a scene of devastation, no longer resembling its former self. The streets were empty, devoid of any sign of life.
On Yinyue’s side, they launched a fierce attack while the predator was evolving, but it had no effect. It seemed like this thing’s transformation came with invincibility.
The predator had now completed its transformation. It flapped its wings, and seeing this, Bai Xiaotao gathered a massive sword hundreds of meters long, intending to use the same trick and cut the predator’s wings again.
Bai Xiaotao’s expression turned to surprise as her attack only managed to scratch its skin. The creature’s defense had now reached an absurd level.
The predator locked onto Bai Xiaotao and unleashed several bolts of lightning at her. She gritted her teeth—things were really bad now.
Because she couldn’t ensure that she could hold off the predator until other S-class ability users arrived to reinforce her, Bai Xiaotao felt it was likely an impossible task.
Dodging the lightning strikes from above continuously, Bai Xiaotao began to feel exhausted.
The predator’s six eyes all focused on her, making her break out in a cold sweat, and she nearly lost her balance on her sword. The pressure now was worlds apart from what it had been before.
The predator flapped its wings, releasing tens of thousands of energy missiles that flew in all directions.
This made everyone present feel uneasy, with such a dense barrage of attacks, they had no way to dodge.
Explosions resounded across the land, and after this wave of attacks, Bai Xiaotao was forced to land on the ground, her face covered in dust, looking quite disheveled.
“So this is the true power of the predator? It’s ridiculously strong… cough, cough…”
Bai Xiaotao stared at the colossal creature before her as it opened its huge mouth, gathering a formidable amount of energy. She knew that if she took this hit, she would undoubtedly die.
But if she used her ability to dodge… she likely wouldn’t have enough energy left to continue fighting this monster, and this attack would inevitably impact the people in the city.
Thinking of this, Bai Xiaotao gave up struggling.
No matter what, she was going to die here today, so she might as well die with some purpose. By using her body to block the attack, she could buy others a bit more time to escape.
Closing her eyes, Bai Xiaotao resigned herself to her fate. She never expected to meet Yinya so soon—what an unsatisfactory end…
Death did not arrive as expected. Instead, there was a loud thud. Bai Xiaotao opened her eyes to see a young girl wielding a giant hammer, striking the predator’s face with all her might.
This caused the predator’s attack to veer off course and hit the ground, creating a deep, bottomless crater as the ground shook from the impact.
“Yinya, is that you?”
Bai Xiaotao called out. In her memory, the only girl who could wield such a giant hammer against this monster was Yinya.
“Have I been recognized already?” Though she was recognized, Yinya felt a bit pleased. It seemed fitting for a friend of hers.
“It’s me. Let’s save the catching up for later,” Yinya said to Bai Xiaotao.
Bai Xiaotao simply nodded. Yinya was alive and hadn’t even informed her. She had been heartbroken for so long, but now she felt immense joy.
The predator roared in anger, summoning hundreds of fog beasts, whose strength had been enhanced to A-class. Even S-class ability users would find them troublesome.
“Yuluo, these guys are yours!” Yinya shouted.
“Got it.”
Yuluo clasped her hands together, summoning hundreds of stone giants from the ground.
The giants moved and launched attacks on the fog beasts, who roared and charged at the stone giants, and the battle between them quickly ensued.
Meanwhile, Yinyue, taking advantage of the chaos, had snuck onto the predator’s back with her daughter.
The predator soon noticed the two “little mice” on its body but ignored them, thinking they couldn’t harm it.
However, in the next moment, it regretted this decision. Yinyue drew the Dawn’s sword and plunged it into the predator’s back.
