”Alexia, how are you feeling?”

My parents came into the room as I was lying down again, groggy from the attack on my brother’s care.

“…I’m fine.”

“Really?”

My father, peering anxiously into my face, looks young, no more than 40 years old. My mother, standing behind him, is also a beautiful woman…and she looks like she is still in her twenties. They certainly look like me in the mirror, but I don’t feel that they are my parents.

“Poor thing…I hope your fever subsides soon.” My mother’s hand on my forehead felt cool and comfortable.

“But thank goodness the academy is on break.” “But when it started, it’s hard to go without your memory, right?”

“The academy…?”

“Yes. Theodore will also be enrolling next month.”

Academy.

I guess entering at 16 means it’s like high school……..

…High school?

…that… what is that…?

“Alexia. It’s okay, you don’t have to go.” My mother said while patting my head.

“Let’s put our priority on healing your body first.”

“…Yes.”

They don’t seem to know the cause of my fever. There was nothing wrong with me until the day before, but when the lady in waiting went to my room in the morning, she found that I had a high fever and was groaning. The fever and physical discomfort could be cured by resting, but they were not sure if my memory would return. There are very few cases of fever-induced memory loss, and there is no cure for amnesia.

“By the way, Alexia,” father said. “Patrick is coming to visit us this afternoon. Is it okay?”

“Patrick…?”

“Your fiancée, Patrick Adronaught.”

“Oh…”

I shifted my gaze to the bedside.

There was a large vase full of flowers. It was from my fiancée’s visit.

My fiancé is one year older than me. He is the eldest son of the Duke of Adronaught, the country’s foremost noble family.

The reason why my fiancée is the heir to such a noble family is because my aunt is the queen. The Bertini family, which will become the king’s relatives in the future, is wealthy, but their title is only a Count. There may be forces that try to harm the royal family by taking over my family.

Therefore, the Bertini family is trying to strengthen the royal family by marrying the Duke of Adronaught, the leading noble and pro-royalist family…a political maneuver marriage, so to speak.

It is a strange feeling to know that at the age of 17, one’s future marriage partner has already been decided. I know that there are marriages based on family background and political relationships, but I never thought that a commoner like me would be in such a position….

Commoner?

— Ah, here we go again.

Every time I wake up and find out something about myself, I find myself comparing it to something else in the back of my mind. The memories of that other person, not Alexia, seem to have a different culture and values than here….

“Alexia,” my father called, “is it still painful?”

I was deep in thought when my father looked at me with concern.

“If you are in pain, I can decline Patrick’s visit.”

“No, I’m fine.” I look at my father and smile.

My fiancée…what kind of person is he?
