After lunch, which was light and consisted mainly of fruits, I was made to get ready.

Even though I’m still sick, I will meet someone with a higher title, so it would be impolite not to dress accordingly.

After done getting dressed, I sat on the bed and had my hair combed when Theodore came in.

He came in and asked, “Sister, how are you feeling?”

“I’m fine.”

“Really?”

He came right up to me and looked into my face.

“You don’t look so good, do you? Why don’t you cancel meeting that guy?”

That guy?

The way he said it caught me off guard.

“…I guess we’re just meeting for a little while?”

“You don’t have to force yourself to see that guy. You still got a fever.”

“But…he’s already on his way here, isn’t he?”

“You can ask him to leave.”

“No, that’s not okay.”

“But what if you force yourself to meet with someone you don’t get along with and you end up feeling even worse?” With a straight face, Theodore said so.

“What…we don’t get along…?”

“Yes, sister and that guy doesn’t talk or even look at each other whenever you two meet.”

“Why…?”

My fiancée and I… don’t get along?

I mean… even though it’s for the sake of the family, he’s the person I’m going to marry in the future…

“Well, I don’t know.”

A look of disgust flashed in Theodore’s eyes.

“But you don’t have to worry about someone like that, someone who doesn’t take good care of you.”

“….That’s a pretty big thing to say to your future brother-in-law.”

Suddenly, I heard a voice—I looked at the door, which was open.

A young man was standing there.

Peeking out from between his long chestnut bangs, his green eyes with a piercing gaze were staring intently at me.

This man is my …… eh?

I know him…?

I feel like I’ve seen this face before—but that was on a much smaller screen…

A screen?

The eyes staring at me suddenly softened.

The sudden gentleness in his eyes made my heart beats louder.

Patrick approached the bedside.

“Are you feeling alright?”

“Y-yes, I’m fine.”

I thought my brother Theodore was already so tall, but he was even taller than that.

I looked up at him, answered him so, and bowed my head.

“Thank you for visiting me.”

As I thanked him, I heard a faint gasp.

“—Are you sure, you really have no memory?” he said, after a moment of silence.

“Yes… I’m sorry…”

I replied with my eyes downcast.

“……It’s not something to apologize for,” he said as he moved.

He rested his hand on top of my hand that was resting on my lap, and he put pressure on it.

“Looks like you still have a high fever.” His voice was right next to my ear.

Huh?!

As soon as I became aware that he was holding my hand, I felt my fever rise even higher.

“What are you doing?”

I heard my brother’s cold voice.

“Please don’t touch my sister.”

“She’s my fiancée, she’d at least hold my hand.”

“How can you say that, coming from someone who has never tried to touch her?”

…It’s like there’s an invisible spark flying between the two of them.

My brother said that my fiancée and I don’t get along…but I wonder if these two also don’t get along.

Anyway…when will he let go of my hand…?

I feel my body temperature rise even more as I feel the warmth of his large hand, which refuses to let go.

“Alexia? Your face is quite red.”

Suddenly, he looks into my face… and his green eyes appear right in front of me.

“Has your fever risen?”

Staring into those eyes that seemed to absorb me, my head seemed to go blank.

“My sister can barely sit still. Could you please leave us alone?”

Theodore grabbed Patrick’s shoulder.

“…I see. Well then, I’ll leave for today.”

I wonder if it is my imagination that I see a regretful look in his eyes.

“Oh, um…Patrick-sama.”

I called his name as he was about to let go of my hand, and his eyes widened.

“Thank you…for coming…thank you.”

I looked up at him and thanked him.

“—I’ll be back to check on you.”

He squeezed my hand tightly for a moment, and with that, Patrick left the room.
