In Place of Losing My Memory, I Remembered That I Was the Fiancée of the Capture Target - Chapter 1.8
“Xia. You can walk now?”
Patrick, who was waiting in the parlour room, narrowed his eyes happily when he saw me.
It had been fifteen days since I woke up, and I finally starting to feel some strength in my legs.
However, since I had been bedridden for so long, I had lost muscle strength and stamina, and when I used the stairs, I had to ask for help from a lady in waiting, and I became tired quickly.
Still, I was happy to be able to walk on my own two feet.
”Yes, thank you for always visiting me.”
When I reached Patrick’s side, I picked up the hem of my dress, lightly bent my knees, and bowed.
———I received a notice that he was coming to visit me, and my mother taught me how to greet a visitor as a young lady.
I was worried if I could do it properly, but apparently my body remembered it even though I lost my memory, and I was complimented on how beautiful I looked.
“Ah.”
When I looked up, I saw gentle eyes staring at me.
I was struck by his eyes, which had the same sparkle as the pendant shining on my chest.
Really, why did I hate him?
Every time I see Patrick, that question grows louder.
Even though I hated him for the two years since we got engaged… He’s a very kind person who doesn’t hold a grudge against me and takes care of me.
“Xia, come here.”
When I was going to sit on the couch across the table from him, Patrick motioned me to sit next to him.
I sat down next to him as he urged me to, and he gently squeezed my hand.
“I heard you’re back to your normal diet, so I brought you some pastries today.”
As Patrick spoke, the lady in waiting opened a box on the table to reveal baked goods of various colors and shapes with a soft, faintly sweet aroma.
“They are pretty…”
“I heard it’s a popular shop in town. I wasn’t sure what you’d like, so I prepared a variety for you.”
Come to think of it, I had eaten fruit since I woke up, but not sweets.
Some of the sweets looked familiar, while others were new to me.
But they all looked so delicious that I couldn’t stop looking at them.
“Thank you.”
When I said that with a smile on my face, Patrick’s eyes widened — and he immediately broke into a smile.
“Xia. Shall we have tea outside?”
“Outside…?”
“It’s warm today and there’s no wind. Have you gone outside?”
“No…not yet.”
I went out on the balcony of my room, but I hadn’t left the building yet.
“The garden would be nice. Get ready.”
When I ordered the maids to help me stand up, Patrick suddenly picked me up.
“Ahh…”
I couldn’t help but cling to his neck…and my gaze immediately locked with the emerald eyes right in front of me.
I felt the blood rush to my face at the sheer proximity.
I tried to pull away from him, but he held me closer.
“Please let me go.”
“I guess you’re still having trouble walking. I’ll take you with me.
“But…I’m heavy…”
“Xia is light as a feather, so there’s no need to hold back.”
Saying this with a smile, Patrick walked out of the parlour room with me in his arms.
“———What are you doing?”
I heard a cold voice behind me as I walked out into the hallway.
There stood Theodore, staring at Patrick with a grim look on his face, and my father, with a surprised expression on his face.
“The weather is nice today,” Patrick said, “so I thought we’d go out in the garden. Xia should get some fresh air too.”
“Why are you carrying my sister?
“She’s still having a hard time walking.”
“Put her down.”
“Wait, Theodore.”
Theodore looked like he was about to grab him, but his father held him by the shoulder.
“Don’t get so angry.”
“Father…”
“—They’re engaged to be married. It’s a good thing that they get along so well, right?”
After saying this, he turned to Patrick.
“I’m sorry about Theodore.”
“It’s okay.”
“Please, take your time.”
“Yes, excuse me.”
Patrick bowed slightly to my father and started walking again.
