In Place of Losing My Memory, I Remembered That I Was the Fiancée of the Capture Target - Chapter 3.3
“Welcome, Alexia.”
“Thank you for inviting me here today.”
I picked up the hem of my dress and gave a curtsey to the Duchess of Adronaught as she greeted me.
“You don’t have to be so formal,” the lady said.
She said with an elegant smile.
“I’ve been looking forward to your coming to this house.”
“Thank you.”
“Take your time. I’ll make you some tea later if you’d like.”
“Mother!”
Patrick put his hand on my shoulder and pulled me toward him.
“We don’t have time for that today.”
“Oh, dear. You two are so close.”
She giggled at the sight of us.
“Well then, Alexia, I’ll invite you back for tea another time”.
“…yes”
“Let’s go, Xia.”
Patrick walked out, still holding me by the shoulders.
Today was my first visit to Patrick’s house.
As the student council president, Patrick is very busy at the school and I don’t get a chance to see him often.
So he invited me to his house so that we could spend some time together.
Theodore was against me going alone without my family, but I was his fiancée and there was no way I could refuse an invitation from the Duke’s family.
Holding Patrick’s hand, we walk down the long hallway outside. The duke’s house, as one would expect from the top noble family, is not as large as the royal palace, but it is much larger than my own home.
“This is the outbuilding,” Patrick said. “We use it for our guests.”
We walked through the beautifully landscaped gardens and stopped in front of the building we had arrived at.
“I’m thinking of living here when we get married. Is it too small?”
“No…it’s enough…”
It is certainly smaller than our house…but it is still a very large mansion from my point of view.
“I’d like to spend some time alone with you for a while.”
Patrick said with a bit of a grin on his face and motioned me inside.
He showed me around the house and led me to a tea room with large windows that let in plenty of sunlight.
Inside, tea was already being prepared.
After pouring tea into the teacups in front of us as we sat side by side on the sofa, the maids left the room.
…Oh, are we completely alone?
Even though we are engaged, I heard that it is not very good for us to be alone together…
“Don’t worry so much. I won’t do anything bad.”
Patrick said, perhaps it was showing in my face.
What does he mean by ‘bad’?
“I really wanted to spend some time alone with you. But, my mother has prepared sweets and tea today.”
“Your mother?”
“She insisted on spending time with you, but I had to ask her to put up with this because we’d run out of time if you did.”
He said and pointed to the table.
“…I’ve been concerned about the fact that I haven’t brought you home once since we got engaged.”
“I’m…sorry about that.”
“So from now on, I want you to come here more and more.”
“…yes.”
Patrick nodded and his cheeks relaxed happily.
The sweets on display were all beautiful and elegant looking.
They tasted not too sweet and very delicious.
The tea is also fragrant and comforting.
“How is the academy? Have you gotten used to your classes?”
“Yes, everyone treats me well.”
I thought it would be difficult to expect everyone to get to know me because of my amnesia and the fact that I am one year older than the other students, but thanks to my friend named Rebecca, on the day after the entrance ceremony, I was able to get used to my class right away.
Other classmates also treated me normally.
—I think it may be because I don’t stop them from trying to get close to Theodore.
I think girl friendships are really important.
I can talk normally with the girls, but I have only had minimal conversations with the boys.
Rebecca told me that Theodore is checking on the boys who try to talk to me.
I have a fiancée, so I don’t think I need to be so cautious…
Besides, Rebecca is much prettier than I am, so she should be careful.
When I told her that, she got mad at me. And said, “You don’t understand!
She said that I am the type of person who makes everyone want to protect.
When I replied that I didn’t understand that part, she told me to stay away from men who are not my relatives.
