In Place of Losing My Memory, I Remembered That I Was the Fiancée of the Capture Target - Chapter 5.10
**(Rebecca’s POV 2)**
Even though there shouldn’t be any binding force, I’m somehow experiencing event-like scenarios with Liam, one of the love interests.
What on earth is going on?
Normally, it’s rare to meet students from different grades, but I frequently encounter him in places like the library and the staff room. Some of these encounters mirror the game’s events, while others are different. Initially, we just exchanged glances, but eventually, he started talking to me.
In the game, Liam is incredibly sharp-tongued and his words are always barbed. However, in reality, Liam’s words lack malice and even seem to convey a fondness for me… giving the impression of an earnest young man.
One day, I was having lunch with Alexia, eating sandwiches I had made, when we shared some with the prince and Liam. This led to an event where, as a thank-you, I was inexplicably invited to the royal palace. Moreover, for some reason, Liam and I ended up strolling through the garden alone… and I became his partner for the soirée.
…Isn’t this strange?
In the game, we only become Liam’s partner at the graduation party held at the end of the school year. It’s there that he gives you a necklace and his first kind words. So why is this happening at a soirée before even a third of the year has passed, before the summer break?
The soirée was quite challenging. Being in the spotlight because of Liam’s escort was difficult, but what was even harder was when Alexia, like in the game, was hit with a fan by the rival lady of Patrick’s route.
I was curious about His Highness’ reaction at that time, but…
When Alexia told me about the hidden character and the symptoms she experienced when she lost her memory….it makes me uneasy.
Those symptoms were similar to the poisoning incident in the prince’s route. Alexia shouldn’t have been the one poisoned, yet events similar to the game and connections to the hidden route were happening to Alexia, who shouldn’t exist in the game… it can’t be a coincidence.
I started researching the poisonous plant. Despite visiting the academy’s library and the royal library, I couldn’t find anything relevant.
Just before the end of the summer break, I visited Alexia again, and even more things had happened to her. When I told Alexia about the poison in the game, her face turned pale. …It seemed she had some idea.
I need to find out if that poisonous plant exists as soon as possible. With renewed determination, I headed to the royal library, where I encountered Liam. We had met several times during the summer break… and a lot happened.
“Are you interested in something like that?” Liam asked, looking at the herbal medicine book I was holding. —He used to be awkward in conversation, but recently, he had started talking normally.
“…Yes… I’m looking for a specific herb, but I can’t find it.” I couldn’t exactly say it was a poisonous plant. “I wish there were more detailed books…”
I had already looked through all the books available here.
“In that case, the library at the royal palace would be suitable. They have an extensive collection of specialized books.”
“…But I can’t access such a place.”
An ordinary student couldn’t possibly use the royal palace’s facilities.
“I can get you permission if I’m with you.”
“Really?”
“I often use it for assisting my father with his work, so I have a permit. If I list you as my assistant, you can enter.”
“Really?!”
As expected of the chancellor’s son. To think he had such connections.
“But… I feel bad about imposing on you, Liam…”
“—In that case, will you grant me a favor in return?”
“A favor?”
“…I want to eat those sandwiches you made again, the ones with the filling.”
Before… the sandwiches?
“If that’s okay with you.”
I could make as many as needed.
“Great.”
Liam said with a pleased smile. That rare smile made my heart skip a beat. —And somehow, I ended up going to the marquis’s villa with the sandwiches.
…Well… if it means I can access the royal library for a friend… it’s worth it…
And now, I’m at the royal library. In front of me are rows of precious books I’ve never seen before. Trying not to get distracted, I headed to the shelf with books on herbs. There were many books the same as those in the royal library, but one old-looking book caught my eye.
It seemed to be a collection of rare herbs from around the world, compiled by an individual researcher.
I sat at a reading table and began flipping through the pages. Carefully… not missing anything…
“…Found it.”
A plant with a citrus scent, causing paralysis and fever. And… excessive intake could lead to memory loss…
“…It really exists…”
“Did you find it?” A voice suddenly came from behind, startling me. When I turned around, Liam was peering at the book.
“Poisonous plant? Were you researching something like that?”
“Oh… um…”
Oh no… he saw it.
“—It says here that it’s a rare plant that only grows in the Lestancourt territory.”
I was startled by Liam’s words and looked back at the book.
“Lestancourt…?”
I’ve never heard of it…
“It’s a count’s territory in the north. I’m sure it’s where the queen’s sister married into.”
As expected of a future chancellor candidate. Does he know all the territories?
Wait, the queen’s sister…
“Their youngest son is in your class. He’s adopted into the Bertini family.”
“…Theodore?”
Alexia’s brother…
“Wait…”
Didn’t Alexia say her room smelled like lemon water?
No way…
Wait… I need to remember. The culprit who poisoned in the prince’s route was unknown, but it could only be obtained from a specific place…
On the internet…I’m sure the mystery is revealed in the hidden route…
Alexia also appeared in the hidden route…
Theodore, who is obsessed with Alexia…
The hidden character is… yandere… and also… a siscon…?
“No way…”
“Rebecca?”
Liam looked at me suspiciously as I turned pale.
