In Place of Losing My Memory, I Remembered That I Was the Fiancée of the Capture Target - Chapter 5.9
**(Rebecca’s POV 1)**
Why—of all things—did it have to be this game?
The moment I looked up at the academy, memories from my past life flooded in, and amidst the confusion of all that information, I thought about it.
It was the morning of the entrance ceremony. I felt a sense of déjà vu looking at the school building… and it didn’t take long to remember everything. ——Even though I had come here a few times before, why hadn’t I remembered then?
I had attended university in Japan. I wasn’t particularly studious and spent most of my time indulging in my hobbies like games and anime, essentially an otaku. Despite having played numerous otome games… why did I have to reincarnate into one where all the love interests are such a hassle?
Was it because I played it right before I died? I pulled an all-nighter to clear the route of the third prince. I went to university sleep-deprived and… I probably got hit by a car or something.
I enjoyed reading novels and manga about people being reincarnated into game worlds. But I never thought it would happen to me—let alone that I would be reincarnated as the heroine.
I don’t want to go through with this.
Realizing the situation I was in, I felt a strong resolve. It was the morning of the entrance ceremony… the start of the game. There should be an event happening now… yes, I’m supposed to be transferred here.
I decided to stand at the edge of the corridor and observe. A male student came running and almost bumped into a girl. The boy next to him pulled her arm, preventing her from falling… and immediately, two of the love interests—the black-hearted prince and the sadistic chancellor heir—appeared in front of her.
The four of them were talking about something… did I possibly avoid triggering the event?
I quietly tried to pass by the group.
“…Heroine?”
I couldn’t help but turn around at the small mutter I heard, spoken by the girl surrounded by the prince and his friends.
She was an incredibly beautiful girl. With dark blonde hair neatly braided, and a delicate, pale body that even I, a woman, felt protective of her.
Her sparkling sapphire-blue eyes were looking at me.
Such a pretty girl… I don’t think she appeared in the game. And did she just say “heroine”? That’s not a term used in this world. The only ones who would know it are—someone like me, a reincarnator?
She entered the classroom just before moving to the entrance ceremony. Was she in the same class as me? The boy with the same hair color who was with her… he looked too handsome to be just a background character.
The class was momentarily abuzz with the arrival of the two beautiful people.
“Who are they?”
“Oh, that’s the girl who repeated a year.”
“Repeated a year?”
I reflexively asked back upon hearing the words from the side.
“That’s Alexia Bertini. She’s the cousin of the princes and the fiancée of the student council president.”
One of the girls who was talking informed me.
“She was originally a second-year, but she lost her memory due to an illness.”
“How unfortunate…”
“The boy with her is probably her younger brother, Theodore.”
“What a beautiful siblings…”
The student council president… isn’t he one of the love interests?
His fiancée—she shouldn’t have appeared in the game.
Memory loss?
Repeating a year?
What is going on?
Still puzzled by the differences from the game, the entrance ceremony began. …If I had reincarnated during the entrance exam, I would probably have held back. But apparently, I scored the highest and was chosen to give the speech as a representative. This scene is also in the game, where the student council president, one of the love interests, recognizes my existence.
Standing on the stage, I read the speech… and at the end, I looked at the seat where I had been sitting. Behind me sat Alexia. When our eyes met, she flinched in surprise, her blue eyes widening. I couldn’t help but smile at her cat-like reaction.
At the end of the day, after all the scheduled events, the student council president and love interest, Patrick, appeared in the classroom. He was talking intimately with Alexia. …Weren’t these two supposed to be on such bad terms that they didn’t even speak?
Intrigued, I followed them out of the classroom and encountered the prince and his friends near the carriage stop.
Patrick had his arm around Alexia’s shoulders, and she looked up at him, blushing.
…They’re so lovey-dovey.
Why? What’s going on?
The next day.
Although I wanted to avoid getting involved with the game, my curiosity got the better of me, and I approached Alexia.
As it turned out, she was also a reincarnator and had remembered her past life and the game the same way I did the previous day.
She told me that she had amnesia and had forgotten the cause of her amnesia, so now she and Patrick were good friends.
I’m glad… the game’s constraints aren’t forcing anything. If Alexia firmly holds onto Patrick and doesn’t interact with the other two, we can avoid the game. Since I have the chance, maybe I should go after Mr. Alan, the teacher who was voiced by my favorite voice actor in my past life. I was surprised that his voice was the same as in the game.
I could make beautiful friend with the same previous life, fall in love, and enjoy school life regardless of the game!
———But …my plans crumbled so easily.
