Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear - Chapter 622
Bear-san receives a Letter from a Summoned Bird
A few days have passed since the Huge Slime incident.
I have been holed up for the first time in a long time, and I had stayed indoors. However, I could not stay at home alone like in my former world.
Since I came to this world, more and more people have come to my house.
“Yuna Onee-chan, please watch over my magic training some time again, even if only once in a while.” (Fina)
Fina started to say such a thing, probably because of the Slime.
Fina asked earnestly, so I said, “Sure.”
It was nice to have more means to protect myself than anything else.
Then Noa came to visit me between studies.
“Swaying Bear, Hugging Bear. Over here.” (Noa)
Noa played with Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, who had turned into cub-sized bears.
“I knew it, Bear-san is the best.” (Noa)
Noa looked satisfied as she hugged Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear as they approached her.
“Now I can study hard again.” (Noa)
“Is that so? That’s Great.” (Yuna)
It was a time of peace.
Then I heard from Tirumina-san that the store was doing well, and the director of the orphanage told me there were no problems with daily life, and I was left with nothing to do but relax.
I enjoyed my adventures, but spending time relaxing like this was also nice.
While I was lounging on the bed with Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, Swaying Bear, and Hugging Bear squealed and looked out the window.
“What’s wrong?” (Yuna)
Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear were looking at the window where there was a large bird.
For a moment, I was surprised but soon realized it was Sanya-san’s bird summon.
The bird was as large as an eagle, and when I opened the window, it entered the room and perched on the back of a chair.
Was Sanya-san watching me?
Sanya-san could see things far away through the summoned bird’s eyes.
It was useful but also an ability that could be used for criminal activities.
If you put it that way, magic could be used for various crimes.
A kitchen knife could be used to make delicious food, but it could also be used as a weapon to stab a person.
As with anything, the power depends on the mind of the person who uses it.
I waved my hand in front of the bird, but it didn’t respond, as it was not supposed to be able to control the bird.
At any rate, as before, I looked at the bird’s neck and saw that a tube was strapped to it.
“You have a message, right?” (Yuna)
I opened the lid of the tube attached to the summoned bird’s neck, and a curled-up piece of paper came out from inside.
“I wonder what is it? It’s not a problem, right?” (Yuna)
I had a bad feeling about this, but I couldn’t help but look at it.
I unfold the rolled-up paper.
I knew it was from Sanya-san.
I thought it would be a hassle, but I was wrong.
It was more like a letter for Fina.
It said that once a year, the Adventurers’ Guild of the Royal Capital sponsored an event to compete in dismantling techniques.
The letter was a request for Fina to participate in the event.
I didn’t know there was such an event.
Maybe I should tell Fina about it.
“Kuku.”
The bird summon chirps.
“Here, you can return now.” (Yuna)
“Kuku.”
The bird didn’t fly out the window.
“Are you waiting for a reply to your letter, by any chance?” (Yuna)
I couldn’t reply right away, so I just wrote what I would tell Fina on a piece of paper and put it inside the bird’s tube.
When the bird confirmed that the letter was inside the tube, it flew out of the window.
I closed the window and went to Fina’s house.
Fina was helping out at home, and Tirumina-san and Shuri had gone shopping.
And instead, there was an unusual person in the house, even though it was daytime.
“Gentz-san, you were at home.” (Yuna)
“It’s my day off.” (Gentz)
As a matter of course, the Adventurers’ Guild was not closed on regular holidays. So it was a rotating day off.
“Yuna Onee-chan, have some tea.” (Fina)
“Thank you.” (Yuna)
I drank the tea.
Yes, it was delicious.
“So, what happened today?” (Gentz)
I told him I had received a letter from Sanya-san and what it said.
“They have a dismantling…” (Fina)
“Oh, I remember something like that happening.” (Gentz)
Gentz-san, who was listening to the conversation with me, interjects.
“Father, do you know about it?” (Fina)
“Fina doesn’t know?” (Gentz)
“Yes.” (Fina)
“Well, it’s an event sponsored by the Adventurers’ Guild in the Royal Capital. Besides, Fina has not been a member of the guild until recently…so I haven’t…” (Gentz)
Gentz-san seemed to remember something about Fina in the past and closed his mouth.
Yes, I know. It was easy to forget because it was hard to imagine now, but not so long ago, Fina was trying her best just to survive.
It was only natural that she would not know about events like that in the capital.
“Dad, I’m happy now.” (Fina)
Gentz-san smiled happily at Fina’s words.
“So, what are do you want to do?” (Gentz)
The letter only said that there was a dismantling event and that Sanya wanted Fina to attend.
It did not mention anything about the contents.
“Simply put, this will be a Dismantling Skills and knowledge competition. The main participants are adventurers and employees of the adventurers’ guild.” (Gentz)
“Have you ever participated in this event, Gentz-san?” (Yuna)
“Nope!” (Gentz)
No need to be so proud about it.
“Well, basically, the Adventurers’ Guild in the Royal Capital will be in charge, and transportation and lodging will be at the participant’s own expense. There’s no merit in taking time off work to participate.” (Gentz)
“So no one from the guild in Crimonia will be participating?” (Yuna)
“No, I don’t think so. They will have to be away from Crimonia for a few days. Besides, it’s just a festival organized in the royal capital, so we won’t get paid for dismantling even if we did participate.” (Gentz)
It would certainly be hard not to get paid doing your work.
Given that, the benefits of people from Crimonia participating was low.
“Besides, the staff can’t participate unless the Guild Master gives permission.” (Gentz)
“Really?” (Yuna)
“If we all joined, the Adventurers’ Guild would be out of staff.” (Gentz)
That could certainly happen. If every personnel in charge of dismantling from the Guild joined, there would be problems with work at the Adventurers’ Guild.
“Besides, if the guild master ever did give permission, it will be someone who can act as the guild’s representative.” (Gentz)
“So if I join, will I become a representative of Crimonia?” (Fina)
“That would be different. Fina is not a guild member, and according to the letter that Yuna received, you will be under the care of the guild master of the Royal Capital. Right?” (Gentz)
“Me, participating with an introduction from the guild master in the Royal Capital… Impossible!” (Fina)
Fina shook her head.
“Just to confirm, are adventurers free to join?” (Yuna)
“Adventurers have freedom. What is it? Is Yuna going to be part of this? Did you finally learn how to dismantle without us knowing about it?” (Gentz)
Gentz-san looked a little surprised, but there was no way I could dismantle monsters.
“I won’t participate, I can’t dismantle, and I never will.” (Yuna)
“Yuna Onee-chan is fine with not being able to dismantle for the rest of her life.” (Fina)
Fina raised her voice.
I wondered. Was it my imagination that it sounded like I should be a useless girl for the rest of my life?
“It’s okay. I’m not going to make dismantle anything for the rest of my life.” (Yuna)
“How is that even possible for an adventurer not to do?” (Gentz)
Gentz-san looked at me dismayed, but dismantling was impossible for a city girl.
I didn’t have the skills, knowledge, or experience to dismantle monsters, and that’s a triple whammy.
Even if I were to participate, I would probably fail the first round or fail the qualifying round.
I did not intend to participate, though.
“Fina, why don’t you participate?” (Gentz)
“…!” (Fina)
“It would be a good experience.” (Gentz)
“…but…” (Fina)
“Besides, Yuna is going with you, right?” (Gentz)
“Yes, I’ll go with you.” (Yuna)
If Fina would like to go, I would go with her.
Then I felt safe.
“But my mother…” (Fina)
“You think Tirumina will stop you?” (Gentz)
Fina thought for a moment and shook her head.
“I bet, Fina, I don’t think she’ll let you go alone, but Tirumina’s trust in Yuna is very high.” (Gentz)
She was flattered but embarrassed to be told so clearly.
As I was talking with Fina and Gentz-san, the door opened.
“Oh my, Yuna-chan.” (Tirumina)
“Yuna Nee-chan!” (Shuri)
Coming out of the door were Tirumina-san and Shuri, who had gone shopping.
“What’s wrong?” (Tirumina)
“We were just talking about how Tirumina-san has a high level of trust in me, so I can let Fina go.” (Yuna)
When I replied, Fina said shyly, “No, I wasn’t!” Fina said shyly.
“And what were you talking about?” (Tirumina)
Tirumina-san asked as she put away the items she had bought.
I told her about Sanya-san’s letter.
“Well, if Yuna-chan goes with you, I’ll give you the ok…Gentz is right…there’s no better adventurer to trust than Yuna-chan.” (Tirumina)
It was nice to know that they believed in me.
“Oh, but since you’re escorting her this time, I wonder if there’s a commission? I’d be happy if you can give us a discount as a friend price.” (Tirumina)
“I don’t want your money.” (Yuna)
I had no intention of taking money from Fina and her family.
“But I’d like to see Fina’s participation as well.” (Tirumina)
“Me too!” (Shuri)
At Tirumina-san’s words, Shuri also raised her hand.
“Well about that, Tirumina-san, would you like to go too?” (Yuna)
“Will it be alright?” (Tirumina)
“As long as there are no problems with work.” (Yuna)
Tirumina knew about the bear’s transfer gate.
“Yes. I’m sure Liz-san and the others can take care of the eggs for a bit, and I’m sure we can prepare the store done ahead of time.” (Tirumina)
“Eh then, me too.” (Gentz)
Hearing Tirumina-san’s story, Gentz-san expresses his willingness to go with them, but was rejected.
“Gentz-san must have caused trouble for everyone in the Adventurers’ Guild when he went to the sea.” (Tirumina)
“Well, yes, but…” (Gentz)
“Besides, as the head of the family, I wish you the best of luck.” (Tirumina)
Tirumina-san smiled at Gentz-san.
“Good luck, father.” (Shuri)
“Oh, fine, I’ll stay.” (Gentz)
Shuri even said that, so all he could do was nod.
Gentz-san, I felt sorry for him, but it was the husband’s role to be depended on by his family.
Above all, they could not depend on me all the time, so maybe this would be a good thing for them.
As I was now, I might end up being single all my life.
From out of nowhere, I heard Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear cooing.
